Just a hunch, but I think they started working on the Fire Moth and Viper, then caved in to popular demand and switched to the arctic cheetah and shadow cat.. Seem to remember seeing those 2 mentioned on twitter or something a while back and it would explain why the wave 3 heavy & assault are being released before the light & medium.
If so, maybe they'll release those 2 as a saber style reinforcement package, or reward mechs?
Also, isn't the shadow cat meant to be the replacement/upgrade to the ice ferret? Both 45 tons... Hopefully the ferret will get some (real - not feeble mlx/nova style) quirks or something by the time wave 3 drops, hardly ever see them any more apart from the occasional 3x hellbringer 1x ice ferret CW deck.
Ironically the Arctic Cheetah AND the Shadow Cat were designed to replace aging designs like the Ice Ferret and Mist Lynx. I don't support the removal of a mech, but just like the Lynx, they are going to have a hard time giving the Lynx and Ferret a reason to be once the Viper comes around since it is a medium version of the Arctic Cheetah (just minus ECM and plus quite a few hardpoints and JJs).
