Since it seems there is no possibility nor any discussion from PGI employees regarding the removal of instant convergence, it's time to address the elephant in the room.

Let us forget the TT implementation for a moment.

Let's consider that the issue is balance in a FPS-style interpretation.

As it sits right now, clan mechs are able to achieve a great mix of firepower, speed, and survivability simply because a loss of a side torso does not lead to death.

Now, lets consider that IS weaponry is heavier than our clan counterparts, and also that we have less tonnage on average available because of the (relative) inability to use Ferro and Endo at the same time. Combine this with the XL problem, we're left with mechs that are drastically inferior in our ability to build balance into them.

I get that the rules were based on the TT idea that IS XL engines are slightly larger. That doesn't really matter anymore. MWO at this point is loosely based on TT rules at this point, and it's time to make one more adjustment to make the game more fun and balanced.

Remove engine explosions caused by the loss of a side torso in IS XL mechs.

And, while you're at it: Lock the engines, Endo and Ferro to the variant...

Remove the inability to add Endo to Clam mechs?

Better idea, give the IS their Light Engines. 75% weight for Clam durability, on top of the superior customisation. Most mechs would take that.

I'm a player of the Inner Sphere.

I fight for House Steiner.

XL engines are fine. Move along.

Nope.

When IS gets their light engine, then you will have something closer to what your looking for. For now, it is STD and XL. Just make a choice, durability or speed.

Nope.

How about PGI invest in properly implementing internal damage allocation and critical before we re-invent the wheel? <_<

Light fusion engine. IS standard engine more durability since it is a simpler heavier engine. IS XL side torso's have more durability since they do have 3 crits on each side as opposed to 2 on the Omni XL.

None of these ideas are mine but they all make sense and I hope they are in game asap because Omni XL is easy mode overpowered. OP. If I could make the OP bigger, page 2 of this topic would read O and page 3 would read P.
