There are elements in all of our Houses that are so hungry for war that they will bite whatever comes nearest. Whether we learn to muzzle them or not is the difference between civilization and the mongrel packs of dogs we regularly crush on the Periphery.
Does anyone here think that a FIFTH Succession War is sane? Because if Marik and Kurita go to war,that's what you have. A war, while a crazed pack of almost-humans bred for nothing but ceaseless aggression and destruction climb over your crumbling walls and prepare to end one of the greatest symbols of diplomacy between rivals, the FRR.
Please. Go that last step. You can declare batchalls and everything as you fight for nothing but the sake of more fighting, just like the filth now polluting the Inner Sphere. I'm sure the Clans will applaud as they watch their own propaganda proven in every pile of burning wreckage you produce killing each other, until they can tie their slave-cords around the wrists of whoever's left. Surely,they will say, the Combine and the Free Worlds League are two mongrel dogs, playing at being civilized until one treads on the other's tail and then goes for his throat. No better than pirates, seeking only loot and slaughter.
Are you dogs, or men? Do we follow the way of the fools who think all the Inner Sphere is merely a Solaris arena writ large, that they can dance their machines through, uncaring as the C-bills flow and the cities burn?
Those who desire only war on every border are no different than the very Clans the League detests and the Combine abhors. They are the enemy of the State. To a citizen of the Confederation, the State is his father, as the Coordinator is the loving parent of the Combine. To propose such mindless bloodshed is beyond treason, it is the act of a sinful child who would slay his own father, because he is not allowed to "play" by pulling the tail off the family cat or walk about the yard of his neighbor, stabbing their children with a kitchen knife.
What do you fight for? Do you fight because you hate? Because you wish to control a neighbor who you have lived with in peace for decades? To kill for the sake of killing?
The Confederation fights for the love of it's life, for it's freedom from the chains of the Suns, to remove the indecency of those who would found an empire based solely on conquest. We kill to destroy our oppressors, that others will not live in terror and pain when they inevitably strike again.
You who are in the League- do you believe the Combine looms above you to enslave your worlds? Or the Clans? One you would only have the excuse of hatred to battle, the other is an army dedicated to the destruction of society and it's replacement with a tyranny even Hanse Davion would have never imagined possible in his most frenzied of dreams.
You who are in the Combine- where is your duty strongest? A quarrel fanned by
mercenaries to drum up business, or a war with the nation that intended to consume your own a decade ago and to protect your citizens from Kerensky's demented idea of civilization? The Jaguars and Bears are there to be hunted and cherish your distraction from duty as worlds fall.
You who are in the Confederation- are you so bored that the only game you play is seeing if you can poke the Dragon and the Eagle with sticks until one claws at the other? Shame. Kill filthy Clanners with the FRR. See through the ruse of Davion's "Oh, I am so weak- I shall lay here
fighting Kurita and Marik simultaneously and be the pathetic unworthy opponent of Liao." and crush them as well, before the viper bites at your distracted heels.
