To reward slacking? Only individual performance should be rewarded. The formula could be improved for sure to reduce killstealing habits.

This is why I can't wait for Solaris-styled free-for-alls to be implemented; feels like we have that now.

Why encourage teamwork on one hand and reward individual kills on the other?

LThanks for the event. Two things, 80 points is bit too high for a weekend event that has a kill assist condition. Especilly since I usealy only get to play one day, got to play since Friday's start only have 53, people who have to work and family won't get to play much. Agree with another person CW shoud count for 2. Length of event should be from Thursday to Tuesday or longer maybe Tuesday to Tuesday. Achieving a good match score say 40 in public and something a little higher in CW. Crasses to desktop haven't been fixed, way too frequently cutting off Voip helps but only a bit.

With 80 points, this challenge should have gone on for 5 days...

Because no teamwork in pug. No point when I fail is ok, no point because half of my team does less than 100 dmg is not ok.

Come on guys, your servers are down. My King Crab is locked in a match which isn't ending. I can't get back in and it's showing me a different map and kicking me out again. (My friend is having the same problem in a different match).

Give us 10 or so bonus points please :)

Point conditions are fine. I believe that the points system for damage/assists/kills- team damage was the best one. Encouraged play through a whole match. This event. Game play (remember I said point conditions are fine but players are twisting it) is ATROCIOUS. Battle lines crashing in the middle. No attempt at longevity. Team play non-existent. Disconnect at earliest sign of point conditions. I have my premium time and I'm out. Great freebie nonetheless if you power through it.

100% solo queue:

79 matches for 50 points and the mech.

Last challenge in solo queue took me 74 matches to get the mech.

I actually looked in my history, if we would have used the k/a/w conditions from the last challenge I actually would have had the mech around 60 matches (if mech was only 25 points).

So overall this formula seems worse for me personally.

Just a thought. To prevent all this mass rush-die-DC that we are seeing for this event. How about making the points only count if you stay connected to the match until it is completed? This way the stupid tactics to rush and try to get a kill will be minimized, as you would want to stay alive as long as possible because you are there for the whole match regardless. It does leave it open to trolls who will hide, but no matter what formula PGI uses, someone will troll it. It would also minimize the DCs, try to get another match in and then go back, since you could miss the end of the match. Regardless of how it is tweaked, this formula is a lot worse then the ones with a win requirement, at least in those people tried to work as a team a bit more.

Russ mentioned on Twitter that he's sick of the whining about events and wants to just stop doing them because of all the bellyaching.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If Russ is not in charge of how these events are run then he should listen to his community and fire those who are running MWO into the ground. The events themselves are great and are good for the community overall but the way they are implemented is not.

First kill-assists-win or kill-assist is a bad way to do challenges for the community as only 20-30% receive the prizes and say it is fun. A better approach would be make it based on all assists or damage per match that way everyone would feel there participation was rewarded not just players trolling matches for kill stealing ETC. There would be no kills to steal just everyone doing there part to win and receive the prizes.

PLUS THIS TOURNAMENT/CHALLANGE METHOD WOULD ACTULY HELP BUILD THE COMMUNITY NOT DEVIDE IT.

But I doubt Russ will even take this into consideration because I feel he wants to destroy the game he created instead of work with his community and hides on Twitter rather than face the forums.

the best thing you can say about this tournament is that the players the MM gives me dont determine if I qualify or not

Ozealot (Way too much. Over the top. Overkill. )

Im talking from a business perspective anyone that was in charge OF COMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OR ANY ASPECT OF MWO NOT RELATED TO ACTUAL GAME CODING OR ART I would fire.3 years of bad community relation overall bad game development and bad QA should be fired.

What else is there to say to a game owner when the product is not producing a viable community and actual bottom line profits?
I would suggest to Russ find some staff with some common sense and overall management capability's.

If this sounds harsh O-WELL that's business get over it

Interesting. How do you know what PGI's profits are?

Overall, I enjoy having these challenges for something more to do.

However, there are those that ruin the experience for everyone.

I know others have already mentioned it, but I wanted to emphasize that I think the best method for scoring is using either match score or some calculation based on performance (scouting, flanking, etc). You would earn a certain number of points each match towards the prizes. This way every match you play is helping you earn the reward, and the only way to get to that reward is to play well. No kill stealing or rash, suicidal decisions to meet the conditions to earn a point.

Its not like it will be perfect either, but at least there is more incentive to play well.

Hopefully Russ and PGI would consider this method at least once to try it. I believe it will get great reception.

Well first, Thanks for the freebies PGI.

However, there are a few things that are worth mentioning.

- Basing the qualifying score on kills creates poisonous gameplay and chat. This is not a game where "i saw him first so its mine is a thing.. this is not CoD. Here, mechs have armor. A kill is just one in a million shot at the right moment. (you introduced most damage reward... so you are perfectly aware of this). You could go with total match score. Scoring system based on kills means suicidal runs.

- Before going too far with challenge tiers, you can get an idea about the gameplay in your own game by actually playing it. (i mean properly... not sugar coated private matches with those mysterious comp-players). You can not find out everything just by looking at telemetry. this game is played by people... not AIs.

- 80 points in 2 days means roughly 160 matches average. which is about 18 hours of non-stop play time in 2 days. That is beyond insane. its not about having enough free time... 18 hours in a toxic environment for 2 days is not healthy... as the devs you should try it.

- if you want to do challenge... do it in small paces with less expensive rewards... no need to go for a big prize. Combined with kill requirement, The larger the challenge is the more toxic the gameplay becomes. Because people will do anything to get the top prize. And when its far far away... they try harder and faster... and that gives you suicidal runs and friendly fire.

I know that these challenges are supposed to bring in players. But currently that i have the challenge completed. I feel like throwing up if i hear or see anything related to MWO. Which is not good.

What is the problem to count kills right for this event? Is it crap in the game system itself or anything else? The game oafter each match shows me many kills and these are not applied to my standings in this event. :) Something stinks here ...

You can get only "one" point for a game, not matter if you have one or five kills. The condition is simply "at least one kill and at least one assist".

I don't blame conditions. I don't get a point for each time I get a kill. It means I didn't get a point several times with successfull kill in the match. No matter if one or several ...
