Just installed a new SSD and a brand new fresh copy of windows. I'm trying to get MWO installed, and it downloads the entire game data (6.5 gigs!) and every time it tells me it is corrupted. There seems to be nothing I can do to make any difference. I've tried it 5 times!

help!

Have you run repair tool or are you just deleting and reinstalling?

I have no option to run the repair tool, probably because it comes with the game. I'm not deleting and reinstalling, I'm installing for the first time. I have a completely fresh windows install on a new hard drive. Win 8.1 64 bit.

If you are not using one, have you tried using a download manager (e.g. free download manager) to do so?

If you continue to have problems with this, try contacting support@mwomercs.com.

A free download manager to download what? To download the game? can you do that? I figured you had to download the game through the installer, are there instructions somewhere to do it otherwise?

I just did windows updates, followed by turning off the windows firewall and virus scanner, and still no luck.

I contacted support but they're only open during business hours which makes it really hard to deal with them, and I was kinda hoping I could play over the weekend

IIRC correctly, downloading the installer and running it will set up the registry entries, create the folders and install certain essential files for downloading the rest of the game.

Once the basic installation is done i.e. before it starts downloading the various game assets stop the application and search for the MWO Repair Tool in the Bin32 folder.

Execute that to download the game assets and keep running it till it successfully downloads everything. It may take a few attempts as it sounds like your connection may be having some issues.

downloaded the repair tool, had it pull everything down, did another scan afterward, and it's flagging a bunch of just downloaded files for repair.

This is not a problem with my connection, I'm quite positive. I can't remember the last time I ever had a corrupted file from a TCP/IP transfer, and my connection is very stable and very fast.

So, after a few rounds with the repair tool, it seems there there are some files that are corrupted on the download server, or the file hashes are stored wrong, or something. Every time through the loop, there's the same stack of files that come back corupted.

Last resort: support@mwomercs.com

Maybe they can give you the direct links to the files.

Oh btw, not sure if you have set your DNS to google's DNS servers but if not, you could try that before trying the repair tool again.

Edit: You might want to check this thread out. Looks like the tool is not getting the right files.

Okay, finally got a test to come back clean! Right after doing another windows update. Installing Elite: Dangerous forced a fresh install of .NET 3.5 (which I'd already manually done) and a couple other updates installed as well.

This leads me to believe that there wasn't actually a problem with the servers, nor the connection, nor the hashes

In fact, my though is that there may have been a bug in the libraries that they were using to calculate the hashes to determine the file integrity, and those libraries were updated when I updated my PC.

VERY INTERESTING INDEED

thanks guys :)

Already running a newer .net then what can be downloaded manually 4.5.2 installed 2/6/15 thru windows update and still have the problems I am the author of the thread linked to above.

I will say though 95% of the time I do not have issues with the level.pak files, but this weekend I had 3 of them flag bad at that same time.
