This was bound to happen going off through past experience. but it is funny how those people who are calling PGI greedy don't say anything when they extend deadlines to competitions. Ya'll need to learn how to be content even when it doesn't benefit you. I am pretty sure if you hadn't purchased this pack this would be good news to you. Play fair guys

I made my purchase yesterday, i would have preferred to wait it out since i have expenses coming up as i move to a new place this week. you don't see me complaining.

I will go slow for you AnimeFreak because you seem dense, stupid or all around mentally challenged. PGI made this into something its not now due to the extension.

I assure you, my reading comprehension skills are pretty good, and I do find it rather unfair that you are questioning both my intelligence and my ability to comprehend the written word when I have not done any such thing to you or anybody else. Guess that's the internet for you. Whatever.

"it is deceptive to remind people "get it before X date" and THEN on the very last moment to "change your mind" and extended it. It doesn't sit well with people."

Have you (or anybody else for that matter) considered for a moment that in all likelihood, when the decision to put the deadline out there, it was actually intended to be a hard deadline? This is the part where I throw some disparaging remark about people's lack of critical thinking skills and move on with my overall statement...

In any event, there were many people saying 'oh crap, just 1 week is not enough time, please PGI, can you extend that deadline please?' and PGI decided to acquiesce to those folks. This is *not* something PGI had to do, but decided to do so anyway. To be clear, this was not a magnanimous decision, but one based purely on making money. It probably took them a week to hear enough people to warrant making the decision to change.

Deception, by its very definition implies malice (even if unintended). This strikes me as being less in the realm of deception and more in the realm of very bad timing. Feces occurs.

"It really does feel this was a scam. A week was a ridiculous amount of time to set, and then to change it immediately as the date ran out."

I can't help how you feel. I disagree with you however as a scam requires intentional deception and deception implies malice and I do not think PGI intended on deceiving anybody.

Now, I will agree that a week was a poor choice and not one I would have made. But again, it is likely that at the time things were posted, that was the intend and the intention was to stick with it. Enough people waved money in their face and said 'if you give us 1-2 more weeks, it's yours, we promise'. I think PGI would have been stupid to NOT change it.

Again, it most likely took them most of the week to get enough people waving money in their face.

"I don't think I want to "invest" another $ in this game now, considering all I got to do to get "early rewards" is to wait."

Then don't. Ever since the Phoenix Pack, this sort of stuff has been set on a timer, where you get your rewards after a timeframe has elapsed. It's not new.

Bitching is saying you got a bigger cookie then me. voicing our opinion about a questionable marketing and shady business practice is another thing you will learn in time.

Bitching is complaining, usually about nothing of consequence, and usually not offering any sort of reasonable solution. And to be quite frank, I have seen a lot of people bitching.

Regarding questionable marketing and/or shady business practices, I find that is is best to not attribute malice to something that was most likely caused by incompetence. And given what I have seen of questionable marketing and shady business practices, this whole thing sounds more like someone making a bad call than any sort of poor intentions.

I mean, seriously, I highly doubt Russ (or anybody at PGI) wakes up in the morning and wonders how they can **** over or otherwise piss off the player base. That makes no sense.

View PostLordLosh, on 01 March 2015 - 04:27 PM, said:

Regardless our voice was heard and Russ is going to make it up to us. So we win you lose STFU and move on.

I jumped on the bandwagon before the 28th just like a number of other folks, so I'm not exactly sure how I lose anything. I was also not aware that this was some sort of pissing contest where the side that wins gets to take home a trophy and the loser gets to pound sand.

I am also very pleased that the deadline was extended. I was hoping that would happen. I did manage to meet the Feb. 28 deadline, but it was unpleasant to say the least. I am not angry nor upset with PGI and since I love playing MWO I am happy that PGI could make a bit more from their content.

I do believe a bit of thank you is in order to the people that scrapped up 120 in such short notice.

Well I also managed to buy before 28th an I am also happy for those people who now can gather the money to get a chance on the extended deal. Shadowcat and Ebon Jaguar are great mechs. Gladiator is a classic to!

What would make all those sweet Mech Packs even more enjoyable to me would be full camo pattern support on those Invasion (and other premium) mechs. It was said that we would get the Clan camos for our Invasion variants for starters. And it was also said that PGI got some more workers in the 3d/texture department.

So maybe some time in the future we can hope for basic camo pattern support on PGI's money earning premium mechs?

Thanks PGI, for a bait and switch. What are you doing now, taking pointers from Nvidia's marketing team? I call BS. Guess I shouldn't trust them on promos for time limited offer when they will just extend that window. Nice for the folks that didn't get in on it and did, but a load of dung on the guys that didn't putz around and got their pre-order in.

I'm happy other people can get in on this.

I'm not happy that I cut out my vices and extracurricular activities before the end of the month to be able to afford this when I didn't have to. That's the only part that I'm pretty grumpy about. I have limited disposable income and it didn't have to be as bad as it was this month. Could have went half and half and not have to sweat it.

Analogy:
Scenario:
Power Outage.
Me sweating after climbing steps, "I finally made it to the 30th floor!"
Power comes back on.
Coworker talks to me, "Hi Bob, thank god the elevator came back on. Imagine having to take the stairs."
Me to coworker, "God dmit"

Sums it up pretty good for me. The regret is there though.

Man, I went through all that trouble and they do this. C'mon, Russ and gang. I could have split the difference. Anyhoo, it's all good for those who want a shot at extra variants. Thanks just the same.

Its idiotic, but I do feel kind cheated.

And you'll be getting a little something extra because of that.

being Australian with loads of country and animals that kick my ass daily, I.................. managed to pay on day 1....

now I am sending millions of deadly animals your way Canada. you will "appreciate" their uniqueness.

then I might leave em all there, and say "sale EXTENDED"....!

pathetic.

I paid for Resistance pack, no faction content selection yet.

And considering that wave III "early adopter" mechs will be available afterwards for CBILLS.....

I don't think I want to "invest" another $ in this game now, considering all I got to do to get "early rewards" is to wait.

So yeah. The deal was, that I had to pay in February or miss out the 4th variants. And let's face it, especially for the Arctic Cheetah, you're going to want the 4th variant if you're going to get it at all.

So, my options were to either skip the packages completely and wait for the C-Bill release, or get them in Feb.

So, I decided to buy.

The next day they announce "just kidding, you don't have to buy in February."

I'm not annoyed because other people can get stuff, too. Anyone thinking that would be why people are angry obviously isn't very smart.

I'm annoyed because I was tricked to pay before even seeing the rest of the concept arts. I would think that good business would try to avoid making the customers feel fooled right after the money has changed hands. In that regard, this stunt was a fiasco.

The last time I spent my money on something "exclusive" in this game. Probably the last time I spend money at all. GGWP, PGI.

What it's not enough that you get more shiny mechs for almost 200 bucks? I'd say it serves you right for just throwing money away at more mechs when you should have enough cbills to get them for free and upgrade them in time. Having everything right away just takes away more point in playing the game.

Oh... so the problem here is not PGI's questionable practices to get more money, the problem is that I purchased the product they are selling. And not only you make that brilliant comment, you also are illuminated enough to tell me how I should play, how much Cbills should I have and how much should I wait for content.
The narcisissm-induced stupidity in this forum is sometimes apalling.

Extending the deadline? Great! 8 days was really short notice for too many people.
Extending the deadline and only telling us after the first deadline passes? Yeah... Just a forum post a day or two ahead of time would've been a good enough heads-up.

Doing something like this is great because you show that you will always break under the pressure of possible discontent.
Now while I am happy for those that can somehow manage to get the pack that they couldn't before,
once again a pack that was "limited" edition , "specia"l , with a deadline got prolonged. That makes me as a "real" early adapter feel cheated and not supported. Why should I remain an early adopter if EVERYTIME it doesn't matter?!

Of course you can play off the good will and love for the franchise of your customers, and if it helps your bottom line , yay- capitalism! But even in capitalism you can do things the right way...

Wait so people are complaining that they're getting what they bought?

Had they known they could buy stuff a few weeks later, wouldn't they have bought it anyway, given the speed at which they responded the first time round? Also, concept art doesn't determine effectiveness of the mech.

Either way they seem a very vocal pod of whales.

Made a poll in Feature suggestions just to show the numbers off people who are not so satisfied about this decision.
Not to be misunderstood but a deadline is a deadline and its good that other players get the chance now too, but its the same for the loyality mechs that where for the people who followed PGI from the beginning. but then it was just something you get when you just buy a top tier mechpack, so nothing special anymore.
I personally think that PGI should give more, I don't know, respect, well maybe its the wrong word but... I think you know what I mean.
I the end we are loyal and we buy top tier packages and we are early adopter and so on and somehow some off us want to show that we are supporting PGI in this way.

here is the poll just for numbers

You were not tricked mate, you took a decision with the information available. They were very clear regarding the concept art release date. You, and only you, decided to trust PGI, none put a gun to your head to give them money for something you didn't have available information. If you don't like it, don't buy it and stick to your decision.

Just noting that this is the only way to teach them a lesson if you're annoyed at their behaviour.

As an Australian player who has been affected by Cyclone Marcia on the Queensland coast, this is a welcome extension to the deadline following the days of clean-up and power outage that followed the Cyclone's wake.
