The DWF-B is a real gem, seen two of them today. An LB10 and two ER PPCs, which isn't great but okay I guess. Two medium pulse lasers feel like an afterthought. And then four uAC2s, which is decent- oh, wait, those four uAC2s are fed by a grand total of two tons of ammo.

I will make every attempt to expedite my Clan Trial Guide. I've done all 4 Clan Lights (this rotation and the previous one)... just 12 more mechs to go.

And the Ice Ferret? Good god, that thing is unusable. It's huge, has almost no firepower, and yet still overheats like crazy. And then the weapon ranges are all over the place with an ER PPC, SSRM2, and ER SL.

Stock loadouts had some idea, but weren't always great on synergy. Just enlightening!

I played all the new trials today, and honestly the Gargoyle felt powerful and strong compared to these two.

It's a terrible loadout, but you have armor (not really) and speed(weeeeeeeeeeee)! Once you go through all the ammo, you have epic navel pewpew. What could possibly go wrong?

I can't run this thing. It's simply near impossible; ecm counters almost all it's weapons, has less leg armor than any other trial, goes far too slow. Just move it out of trial rotation. It's not good for any new players in the game, which will struggle to death on this mech.

Think about this PGI, what if a new player walks in, thinks that the Mist Lynx looks cool and pretty suitable to their style at first glance, plays a match, and gets one shotted by a locust? They might think something like P2W etc, as this mech just isn't suited for a new player. At least change variants to MLX-B (decent brawler) or MLX-C (decent sniper). And for god's sake don't put the MLX-A in place of the Prime. We don't need to make it even worse as it is right now. Just move the Prime to any other light mech in the game, even a locust if you have to PGI. It's not gonna be fun for any veterans, not to mention a new player. Do it for player retention.

you have to play it like an elemental. then and only then you well see just how OP that little mech is. like all the BAD IS players crying
OP build
2MGs with 1 ton ammo
1 SRM2 1 ton ammo
1 ERML
^that the OP build for the 25 ton elemental

I think I have a "solution", but it would require "redeveloping" the idea of a Champion mech.

The simple premise is this...

Just like the originating the idea of the Champion mech (custom builds that are better than stock), we do the same deal with the Clan Mechs, but give it a different designation... like (H) for Honorary build or some Clan word to show honor/skill or something.

Instead of giving an XP bonus (the lol omnipod set bonus of 2.5% XP means for every 1000XP, you get 25 more XP, which is a complete running joke), it would give the user that uses the STOCK omnipod set 15 or 20% of a C-BILL BONUS.

Given that the pricing of Champions is fixed (25% MC marked up from the base chassis, which honestly sucks if you are a Cataphract-3D lover), giving it an XP bonus is no less a bad deal for the average player.

If the MC cost went up 15%, a 15% C-bill bonus for that particular variant is more appropriate (numbers can change for obvious reasons) and it WOULD NOT eat into the pack sales at all.

It accomplishes both purposes (and honestly all Champion mechs need to be converted into a C-bill bonus and NOT an XP bonus) as that would help people get better with the game.

The C-bill bonus is tied to the CHASSIS and NOT the omnipods. Having the regular chassis provides zero bonus anyways. This would be a pseudo incentive to use a chassis AND stick with the stock omnipods (virtually every Clan mech has that one variant IMO that can be made into something useful). Removing the stock omnipods would immediately lose or reduce said bonus.

It's that simple.

Of course... I doubt this would be acceptable for the Paulconomy, so it'll never happen.

Each and every clan trial mech is beyond terrible. I cannot imagine that a new player picks up one of them and does well in a match. I know I sure couldn't, and I've been playing since closed beta.

It is high time PGI came up with Clan Champion mechs. The sooner, the better.

PGI should create at least slightly updated champions for Clanners. But on a serious note, pretty much all the mechs in this set (especially excluding Mist Lynx, maybe Garg too) are pretty strong. Mini-dakka wolf, Stormcrow that is strong as usual, etc are in the set, along with strong supporting mechs like the Ice Ferret (it basically is a big spider and still works a-ok), Hellbringer is good long range sniper or closer ranged brawler depending on how one plays it, Kit Fox is an anti missile boat and also spots targets, and Mad Dog can spew those missiles out for the Kit Fox. Some may be a bit underwhelming compared to the other champions but they are at least partially good.

The Dwf and Scr are practically already set to rock in comp matches. Ice Ferret, Kit Fox, and Garg might be workable but harder to use, and Mad Dog/Hellbringer are still a bit subpar in their loadouts as of now (though great mechs if it were bit updated). But Mist Lynx... for crying out loud how do you use it in stock mode?

Welcome to the Clan light mech arsenal....stay a while and relish in all that is our fastest lights mech.

And I am the guy that said the Raven trial is still very strong. Well in all honesty once one knows how to play lights then it isn't that hard to use it. But Mist Lynx Prime stock version is just... I cry every time.

I remember grinding my first mechs out with a trial AWS 8T. kids these days with their suped up champion mechs and clam tech. Get off me lawn.

I was grinding for two months on a trial blackjack. Boating flamers. That 8T is actually not terrible, enough SHS to cool to an extent, LL to snipe a bit. Little slow but no biggy, as it has 6 and a 1/2 times more leg armor than the Mist. LRMs are bit screwed due to the torso ammo but still workable. Torso twist. In all honesty I'd rather have BJ-1X or AWS-8T stock in trial que rather than Mist Lynx Prime stock. That's how bad the MLX-Prime stock is.

No.
Keep the mech there to let the players realize that the fallacy "Clan is OP" is only true when you buy a bunch of omniparts to swap in for the best configs. Stock clan mechs with their limited ammo tonnage gets screwed with the PGI system, that's one of the big reasons people go to lasers.
So yeah keep the stock junk mech in there, awareness is a good thing.

Go play it ten matches and then tell me your average damage, average assists, average everything. Also tell me how much you enjoyed it. I already did about ten matches and I can tell you that my average damage was under 50 probably after running out of both LRMs and SSRMs and with a bit more of MG. Oh and tell me each round your survived. Most likely not.

Seriously this mech is no fun. Trying to find a niche, but it's just a waste of a trial mech slot that could've been set for any other mech.

Cheetah is faster, better armored, and better armed. It also has these really useful things called TORSO HARDPOINTS and its hitboxes will likely be better (i.e. arms won't be as huge from a relative standpoint).
The Cheetah is a 100% direct upgrade to the Lynx in every possible way, shape, and form, with zero compromises whatsoever in any area. It's as superior to the MLX as DHS are to SHS, or Endo is to Standard Internals.

Yes I know, I meant the Misty is gonna suck so hard. I'm betting I'm never gonna see that thing again after Cheeter comes in. Nor will I ever see lower tonnage lights in the IS side. Maybe if PGI gimps the Cheeter with a trolly flamer or something...

Oh... that.
Farming got "upgraded" with the new trial rotation.
Of the trial mechs... only the Stormcrow-C barely qualifies for being the "best" overall option. This is just a quick look at the current list. (The next best is the Kitfox-C.) Of course... that assumes you "like" LBX for newbies. (I don't, but humor the idea for a brief moment.)
Otherwise... I'll just stop because I'm dead tired.

Tbh the two mechs that I think are ggclose can't run it are the Garg and Mist. Even the Garg can have a small niche, but can't see anything in the Misty as of it's loadout.

Dwf is actually hella strong, as it is a minidakka. Just don't fire PPCs until out of ammo or in emergencies.

Even Ice Ferret has a small niche as it can stay 1000+ m away and snipe.

Trial Direwolf strong? 4 Ultra AC2s and 2 tonnes of ammo? That's 20 tons wasted for measly 300 damage. How about champion Banshee that can wub 3 times under 2 seconds delivering 99 pinpoint damage without overheating? It's a god among the terribad clan trial mechs.

Disagreed here, Banshee is strong, but Dwf is strong as well in my opinion. The ACs and PPCs can do tons of damage when played like the UAC5 boat. Maybe a bit under the actual UAC boat but even then the trial can do a good job with enough hitting. The LBX and PPCs are the main hard hitters; the UACs are to add on that damage. Plus 300 damage for a newer player is fantastic, I used to do under 10 when I started (mostly due to graphical issues and differences between MW4 Mekpak 3.1 and MWO).

Banshee if not well piloted will do worse due to heat and not knowing the shield arms, and not knowing to hill hump. Dwf-B is pretty much spray and pray MAC10 style, pretty easy sitting near some cover in case some lrms come your way. Then hide for a bit, reposition, spray more.

Huh. Except MLX-P there is new useless SCR-C armed with a "trenchgun" instead of SCR-P which was "nube friendly" plus TBR-P is gone and new players gonna taste the worst version of "Gargle". Sad trend we got folks.

Edit: If PGI's want trial SCR-C use this build... SCR-C

Oh, come on... Paper Wubshee is the worst build ever seen before cause of XL drive.

I'm missing ADR-Prime, honestly.
