Those quirks are not very good.

Really? +47 armor to the Zeus is not very good?

Even the Awesome doesn't get that much, and it only gets structure.

What scares me is trying to imagine why it would need it ... And why the legs are boosted instead of the arms. You know, the arms with most of the firepower in them ...

The Awesome is a horrible mech. You compare one of worst mech chassis in game to Zeus and point out similarities in quirks. Hmm. Intredasting. What other similarities we find? Poor hardpoint placement and lack of jump jet to poptart? Mmm.

The thing about range quirks - they're not very useful unless applied to very short ranged weapons. Even then they're needed in substantial amounts. The slight increase in maximum and effective range is really situational. That makes range quirks pretty weak - and even weaken on weapons like the PPC, which desperately needs velocity increase and heat reduction to even enter the realm of usability. That's why you're getting head tilts and funny looks from at least the Zeus quirks.

That's also a lot of quirked armor, oddly placed - torso halves and CT I get, if we're worried it's a little big, but legs? Feels strange. Arms would've been understandable, as the Zeus has big shoulders and carries most of it's main weapons there.

Subject to change is good. It's just a strange place to start.

I knew this was going to happen. I just knew it. A single head missile hardpoint gets quirked (for your solo SRM 4 or LRM 5  ) and we can't get a second ML quirk or even a LL quirk? Seriously? Who at all thinks that is a good use of a quirk? I mean REALLY?! This is beyond pants-on-head stupid, here.

God damn sometimes these choices are frustrating.

Yes, you got the point, well done. The entire thrust of my post is that the Awesome has terrible hitboxes and is considered a bad mech, for which is got large quirks. Assuming the Zeus's hitboxes aren't as bad as the Awesome's, and it's hard to imagine they would be, the Zeus is going to have a lot of armor. You're scoffing, but this gives it as much side torso armor as an Atlas, in a package that is presumably much smaller.

I am suprisied that no one mentioned the size of the "Glass House" on the Zues.

So the question is, will it have the old "Catapult / Cataphract Syndrome"? As in largest/ every pain of glass being a part "head" hitbox.

Phew...I know the Grasshopper will be beast but was somehow expecting it to get Thunderbolt-esque quirks and become the only Mech we see for a long time. Nothing pops out as "Holy ****!" so that's great because the hitboxes plus hardpoints are already going to make it beastly!

Plus we won't have to hear silly a portmanteau like "wubhopper"...

still funny people are complaining even before they played the mechs, I remember before quirks were introduced most mechs had no quirks at least when one was added you knew what was bad and what not, now DOA DOA DOA qq everywhere.

Clanner does not understand post-quirk society. Then again, clanner cannot underestand a post rock-banging society.

With the quirks as they are now, the Zeus looks pretty not good.

Really I just want these mechs to have good quirks and be good in general. The Panther is meh, the Enforcer doesn't excell at anything in its weight category and the Clans are going to get a fresh batch of really good mechs with really good hardpoints like the Shadow Cat and the Cauldron Born.

If the Grasshopper and Zeus are not good then the Resistance pack will really not have been worth it at all.

It is worth noting that between the hardpoint amounts and locations, and the quirks you've deigned to give those mechs (many of which are bizarre and worthless), these mechs offer nothing over any existing IS mech.

Well, a Grasshopper variant that offers ECM (for which a canon variant exists) might do something to alleviate those woes. We'll see with PGI does with them, even if they seem underwhelming at the moment.

It's pretty easy to estimate the effectiveness of a mech based on its quirks, hardpoints, hitboxes, and possible loadouts. Nothing really screams "garbage" about these new mechs, but they're unimpressive compared to what the IS can already field and pale in comparison to Clan Wave 3's impressive showing.

Actually I quite like the panthers. Although I agree about the enforcer.

Well, i came back for the Resistance pack because i love Panthers.

The Panther and Enforcer were released, and are terrible (though I still love my Panther)...but at least I could still have hope for the Grasshopper and Zeus!

Nope. Nope.

They look nice, but their hardpoints and quirks are terrible.

AMS quirks? Seriously? Is this an early April fool's joke?

And then we see Wave 3, which looks to have 4 top-tier 'Mechs.

EDIT: And I'm sure they're all going to come with SHS, as well, so we IS folks have to do more grinding the clans don't have to bother with!

I'm also a fan of the panther. I just don't think it can beat the firestarter or raven at their respective roles. The 8Z is the only one I think stands a chance of being competitive right now, as a tiny Wolverine 6K, but at that rate you might as well just drop in the Wolverine instead and use light mechs that are good at being light mechs.
