I could see it being a useful cover mechanism. Though I think if it was a thing that you could only activate when at full stop.
What do you guys think? Would it be useful or could it be abused?

We can do without the juvenile Tbagger antics.

If you could crouch up and down quickly, it would become the new form of poptarting for mechs with high hardpoints. That might be problematic as you could position yourself perfectly and just bob up and down with PPFLD weapons, with less exposure than jumpsniping, no leg damage, no need for repositioning between shots.
I also see in front of me how "crouchtapping" combined with JJ tapping makes mech warp and clip up and down with hitboxes all over the place.
So IMO a crouch feature would need to be slow enough to prevent this, a full 2 seconds both down and up or the like. Useful for hiding your mech behind low cover for a while but not for any kind of twitchy maneuvers. I mean it's ok if you can raise to shoot and crouch back, but the speed of doing so should not be quicker than what it currently takes to peek by moving back and forth, and tapping could be prevented through having a click on the crouch button always following through a full crouch up or down. Not sure how the animation should look?
Another thing to think about is controls for stretching out the arms as seen on so many BT pictures, it would significantly change the balance between mechs if arm mounted weapons could be momentarily raised, and completely change the game for mechs like the gargoyle.

feasable? no
the impact on mech balance by the different mechs shapes would be horrible catastrophic.
Especially crouchtarding is going to appear as some shooters already have it.

In my years playing previous games, I've never really found crouching negatively impacting balance.

Crouching is cool, right up until we get what equates to the mech dolphin dive, cuz instead of a slowish mech crouch like I think it is in MW3, instead we would prolly get an instant crouch like in human shooters.
