I had this little gem back in the day:

Led me to buy the PC games (which were so much easier to play):

Here's a couple screenshots of that sweet, sweet 16 Bit action!

I played that game a bit not long ago. Only thing that bummed me out was the mech weren't real BT mechs for some odd reason.

I also have MW2 for PlayStation. Fun game but it has power ups for some odd reason. The maps are shrunk down too and worst of all, no mechlab :(. Still, the game was surprisingly fun and pretty good for s mini-Mechwarrior2.

The one armed Atlas Battletech poster, Ive had it since I was around 10, watching over me as I sleep. Couldnt find an image of it somehow... I know we all know the one I'm talking about though.

You mean this one, yes? ;)

For me, it's a combination of TRO 3058, Ghost of Winter, the Legend of the Jade Phoenix omnibus, and the BattleTech cartoon. -_-

Could you imagine if PGI made this warhammer how many people would cry about the gorilla arms.

Or the amount of QQ it would generate, I mean even in TT, they could lay the hurt on a Timber Wolf, especially the 6D, let alone the 6Rb...

I was fortunate to have a great GM who was really into the stories and the lore. We had some amazing 'mech battles and great out of 'mech encounters as well. I was totally immersed.

For me the two iconic mechs have always been the Atlas for the IS and the Timberwolf for the clans. I just wish that the MWO AS-7 was as good as the BT AS-7...

Or really, any of the 100t mechs were....

Had a match the other week against a guy whom used the fallowing lance against me:

2 x http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Cicada (3M variant)

Those fracking Devastators took for ever to bring down....

Agree, facing a Devastator, particularly the DVS-3, is one of those "Oh crap, this is going to hurt..." moments :D

I had played Crescent Hawks Reception.... but my Iconic symbol wasn't until I returned from babbages game store with Crescent Hawks Revenge.... When you booted up the game and it said "Infocom Presents the Crescent Hawks Revenge" and the music kicked in I can't forget how pumped I was to play this game on my pc.

I cannot numerate the countless hours I sat experimenting with different tactics to get past each scenario.

This singular game is what gave me such deep appreciation for tactics over pure firepower as a means to an end....

For me it would be an image like this.

When I was younger I somehow got a demo cd for Mechwarrior 2. I have no clue how or where I got it but once it was installed and started I remember getting to the mechlab and having a choice of the timberwolf, maurader IIC and kitfox I think.

I obviously tried them all but the assault mech with PPCs is what I loved. I enjoyed watching those little lightning balls hit the other mechs and blow them up. Legging them was more fun as they would topple over. Too bad we will never get to see this majestic mech in MWO.

'Cept he was using DVS-2's.... my only saving grace was getting dual gauss 90 tonners with c3 masters and TC's, up on lvl 3 hills...... while using Hatchetment with LFE's and c3 slaves down in woods 12 hexes up...

Still 10 turns of shooting 4 Gauss rifles a turn at those Devastators brought them down, over time, it was just getting stupid with how much punishment they were taking...

It's more or less equally effective in MWO, and equally prone to getting focused down from outside it's effective range or run down by a couple of lights. Locust Power!
