I've normally got a really good ping of 38-45. I notice lag issues about 100 ish or so. My internet is pretty bad here so that's a cause aswell though

I usually hit around 59-66 ping on NA server. On Euro server I hit around 145 and do fine earlier today though on the NA server I hit 39 for a ping. The lag was very noticeable.

I replied hours ago! Forum lag I guess (j/k- FIRST!). My ping is pretty stable from 50-100ms range. It is the difference in ping, between myself and the target, that seems to have the most effect. It seems as if HSR has a cut off time or just drops some data after a certain point. I can blast at a slideshow stepping light with Mongolian smoke signal ISP ping and get no hit reg. I can nail anything +/- 75ms of my own ping usually with no problem. The main hit reg problem is in matches on events when there are so many missiles and projectiles that the engine just chugs data and "glosses over" anything that it wants just to keep things moving at a cost of quality.

This. My ping is typically around 30 (Chicago). So if I play a few matches in the morning, the difference in ping is 100+. Things tend to get better in the afternoon and night.

When my ping break 35, I start to notice it slightly. However, ANYTIME I go on the Oceanic server, even when my ping is a "respectable 200", I see a lot of lag. EU at 150 is drastically less noticeable even though its just a little faster. Pretty much anf PING over 50 starts to affect gameplay. Of note is that any ping over 75 causes MASSIVE lag with the zoom module. For some reason, when ping hits about 75 or higher, the zoom module starts having massive lag problems, with mechs actually showing off to the right or left while still showing in the zoom screen. It makes it very difficult to successfully snipe on any moving target, let alone a super fast light, who will show far off to the side while still showing in the zoom window.

Ping has a exceptionally large influence on LIGHT piloting for me. Even a ping of 50 makes performing precise maneuvers much much harder. Which I why I never pilot a light on EU or heaven forbid Oceanic lol ROFLO

I see no difference between 10ping on NA and 115ping on EU but at 250-300 oceanic its pretty much unplayable with everything being delayed. So i would guess 170 to be where i would feel the lag.

At 120-290, it is fine (I cannot get a ping lower than 120). At 300-400, the gameplay becomes different. Some targets start to teleport.

My normal ping to the NA servers is ~35. As expected, the play is smooth, with good hit reg and movement. I occasionally notice mechs changing position, but the mech involved is almost always a high-ping player.

My ping to the EU servers is ~110-120. Play is still fairly solid, but I definitely notice more hit reg issues and mech position changes. I haven't played enough on EU to say more than that, though.

I haven't played on Oceanic at all (pings > 250 for me).

Well, as I have played the game since beta, I can say that immediately I noticed the reduction in latency on the european servers compared to playing on ones in america. Even playing on the american servers now feels wildly different.

Ping sub 50 on euro servers, ping 125ish on american ones.

Located: The Netherlands
Cable connection (low latency)

Ping to EU: 25ms
Ping to US: 100~ms
Ping to Oceanic: 300+ms

When latency starts to get noticable: 100+ms
When latency starts to impair gameplay: 150+ms)

Oceanic is a pain to play in especially when zooming in/out.

Jitter is what kills me. I get torso shaking on Forest Colony so bad I can't control my mech. Typically that happens at pings over 300 for the most part but I've had it happen in NA servers with my ping in the 90s and Euro servers with my ping in the 150s. I get it on other maps too but FC is by far the worst.

I've played some EU/O servers with ping in the 200's (NA = 20-50 range) and I don't really notice a difference.

HOWEVER rubber-banding is what I hate, and its present in all ranges. I've seen people at 300+ that were moving smoothly while some at sub-100 were moving like it was a slide show.

I agree with all said above. Rubber banding is the worst. Lining up a shot on a mech that's rubber banding, only to have it magically disappear when you take your shot, or worse yet, have a team mate majically reappear in that line of fire. Both can have tragic consequences.

Especially for people who have experienced the game at different pings, at what point do you start noticing ping is having an affect on your gameplay?

When I play on EU servers (ping 40) i often use 270 UAC5 rounds to deal up to 1000 damage (out of 1350 potential damage).
When I use the same mech for CW (US servers - 130 ping), I never break 700 damage. It feels like some of the shots don't register on the US server.

Oceanic servers are totally unplayable to me, as they have 500+ ms ping, European Servers are iffy but playable up to 180-220ms ping (beyond that and it's a game of teleporting mechs on those servers), while US servers are always in the 30-80ms range and don't give me issues at all.

I have a very good gaming pc, excellent high speed broadband connection, my limit seems to be at a point above 220ms of ping. After reaching that point the game begins to act as if it is running at 10 or less frames per second, with higher ping giving further and further lower fps like activity.

Due to this I have had to block connections to Oceanic servers entirey, and any time ping gets over 180ms on European servers I block connections to them.

As an east coast Aussie player, with ping sub 300 i can live with and do decently well with. but once it gets above 300 (or has 300+ ping spikes) its pretty nigh unplayable unless using LRMs (where others get locks and i stay in rear hoping i am where i think i am and not in the open due to lag)

20ish-220 ping doesn't effect my game in any noticeable way.
When frame per second goes below 20 the game just goes to a lag, aiming is jerky, movement isn't precise with legs left or right they seem to turn an extra amount of degree, weapons fire slower, acceleration and decellaration go wonky, pretty much everything grinds to a slow down and doesn't work well. I can pretty much feel it and see it when my frames change up and down between 30, everything below 20 is really really not good even when its just minor spike in frames dropping down to like 17 for a split second.

I'm use to dealing with a ping of 220, as being from NZ but find 300+ tricky and EU hits 400 so yuk (unless LRM spamming)

Have played with 300 and it starts to suck. Australian connection to the NA server at 250 is the best it's gonna get most likely, so i'd love to know how this game is played with anything less than 100!

Servers are going to Poop again!

Noticing a lot of problems in UK/Europe, making game on both US and EU servers unplayable at times..

More Disconnects also..

Hi I'm a New Zealand player and I've noticed issues like this too as well.

It's probably the influx of new players coming in from Steam but I've noticed that my traffic routing to the Oceanic is worse then it is to the NA server. (250-400 vs 190-230)

Ping isn't much of a factor for me I can USUALLY deal with it, I have done for years and CS has taught me to predict how shots should go and I can usually hold up very well but the packet loss and ping spikes are really affecting me the most.

I've had one disconnect so far and whilst I've yet to clock in at least 150 hours, this isn't giving any negative feedback to MWO. Just minor issues really.

I have already sent in a support e-mail to see what can be done.

If there's anyone else in NZ that's on Spark or on another ISP can you reply to me and see what pings you get to the Oceanic/Singapore servers? Would be REAL interesting to see what others are getting.
