Another big thing that people miss out on is that you start the game with a free Mech, fully loaded with a good weapons kit. If you can't win a match with a perfectly good, fully-loaded Mech... then buying C-bills and XP won't help you at all. Only actual play experience can make you better so you can win more.

This is a P2W game - "Play 2 Win"

I understand that I can get the same thing by playing longer, my point is that some of us would rather the playing field be EQUAL from the get go. WE don't want to have to work harder and longer than the people with money do just to be an equal. You say it just takes a little more time for the poor to be able to succeed in this game than the rich.

I am sorry for being so confrontational here but I was so excited when I heard there was going to be a NEW MechWarrior and it was going to be FREE to play. then several months later i get an email telling me that I can pay money to gain an advantage over the others in the game. Well you let the air out of my sail with that one guys.

In my opinion you are setting this game up to fail real fast with this type of misleading advertising. the game is NOT FREE when others get to pay for advantages, its only free to be a target for the paying customers

I don't see how you would be at any disadvantage. It's not asif this is a standard multiplayer game where higher level = always better (IE wow or any other level based MMO) Even this having more weapons and gear to equip to the mech they are still limited by tonnage and from what I have seen in the videos published the hardpoint system per mech is pretty stringent to prevent people from being able to min/max to levels that it gets silly.

I have a suggestion for you if you are an avid FPSer hook up with one of the F2P games (I would suggest Tribes or TF2) give it a week or so to get used to the game play then determine if you really think things like boosts really are pay to win or if they are simply pay to be impatient.

What do yall think of this?

Some people want everything to be free... which just isn't realistic.

A better way to view this kind of thing might be 'try before you buy'... but marketing departments don't like truth that label as much.

While you are correct that the standard definition of P2W requires a combat advantage. There is no real need for hostile name calling

@Psyche Unless I misunderstood your initial point... Remember there is no single player

You misunderstood the initial point, Players don't 'progress' collectively as a community/group [based on released information - the Meta-Game may have Faction or Unit progression but thats not known and not what I'm discussing].

The pilot/account progression/mod unlocking/specialisation system would be considered a Single-Player component of the game.

About 500 votes as I look at it.

24 think it is pay to win. That is not a bad number, we're an intelligent community

The idea of this being pay to win comes from people simply wanting to get ahead of others as much as they can. Individual gamer's are often deluded in how big and important their status is. So they get a little annoyed when people rank up faster etc through paying.

Not pay to win, just paying to get where we are all going, quicker.

Do you or do you not gain an in game advantage by paying for the founder packs? This is a simple yes or no question. and keep in mind that a 1% increase is a gain

if yes- the game is pay to play with an advantage over the other players going to the paying customers
if no - the game is FREE as advertised and everyone has the same chances at success playing it.

It is not too much to expect an even playing field for all game players in a free game

Just like Jump Jets ruined Mercenaries you will ruin this game by giving advantages only to selected people. GREED it's all GREED.

Like I said, I would rather BUY the game and everyone be equal than play as a free target for others.
if you're going to advertise the game as free to play then it should be free, it wasn't advertised as a free/pay for advantages game. It was advertised as FREE

Durring a match? No there is zero advantage. All boosts will do is when the match is over and repair are done the guy with the founders mech will have a little more ingame money left. thats prettymuch the extent of it. Whether you consider that a "Pay to win" scenario then thats your call

If your skills are better than his you will still mop the floor with him

I think it funny that almost every poster here saying there isn't a big advantage with getting the extras was made by a paid founder getting the advantages...lol so funny

I would think that it is because we don't feel we are getting any advantages. The majority of us just wanted to support a game we want to play and a franchise we love. Mechs and C-bill boosts are just a bonus.

Sure it gives me an advantage. I have the opportunity make more credits to buy weapons and mechs sooner.

Edit:Added opportunity, because if you suck at playing you probably still wont make anything.

And what do you think the guy is going to do with the "little more ingame money"(cbills) he is collecting, he is going to add bigger and better weapons on his mech, make it faster than mine and even more armore than mine. I don't understand how you don't see this as an advantage over the unpaid player????

Because Mechs come as loaded as they can. Sure he can put a bigger gun in there but hes going to have to drop some armor or downgrade his engine. If he wants it faster hes going to have to drop some weapons or armor. Mechs come with no space extra to just drop in something as an upgrade. They have to make room for it by removing something thats already there.

You make my point here, they are trying to make money off of something they advertise as FREE, if they stop advertising the game as free I would be happy to pay for it, but unlike some of you I don't like paying for free $hit.
