Why is it the Beta looked better than it does now?

Because during the beta they had to show off to get people interested, and later when they started playing, PGI had to make sure they can actually run the game on their crap computers. Also, some changes were done because the traffic generated by the techniques was deemed to costly.

Remember during the launct "party" when they melted a computer by running the tourney on it

What?! It's that huge?

It may be taller than the 'Phract, but at least it doesn't have a bad case of Pancake Torso.

Edit: Heres an update, i'm glad PGI is continuing to touch these things up

OP full of much win.

Still looks like PGI have a hell of a long way to go.. ..some of the issues are just terribad, I couldn't believe the Zeus when it came out, the clipping was immediately obvious..

yeah some of the kit fox feet animation is pretty minimal, but even the little they did makes it look so much better

It is not decreasing, it is going BACKWARDS!

The graphics are worse, the sounds are worse, the damaged parts look a lot worse (remember the heat marks that lasers left? Good times) and the animations follow suit.

Games these days are 10+ GB in size, stop using the excuse that you don't want a bigger install. You guys are getting very lazy and it reflects on the game quality. Stop releasing mechs after IS pack 3 and start fixing and improving the graphical fidelity, please.

Thanks.

Lots of good points, but I gave a like to the OP specifically for the scaling issue in MW:O. If PGI would go back and rescale medium mechs so that they were all smaller than the heavies, just about every problem with making mediums viable would evaporate.

Don't even get me started on the ridiculously scaled battleship-in-a-breadbox Stalker and the jumbo-dumbo Catapult.

I kinda feel that my cries have been heard (reverse movement and knee misalignment)... it took quite a number of PMs to the lead animator (which is a nice guy)

Decrease in quality of mechs being released is being balanced by decreased usefulness of mechs currently in the game (nerfs.) So, it all works out... sort of...
