If you magine those are people, and that Victor weighs 80kg. I think the grasshopper looks at least 10-15kg lighter, so scaling as compared to Victor is fine.

Russ answered a tweet and stated it would not have huge archetype.

also look at all those huge dead zone/gaps on the Grasshopper. Something the VTR and CTF don't have, but are very beneficial to the mechs that do have.

Actually the Victor is over-sized for an 80 tonner as well. Therefore such comparison is invalid.

rigging, textures meshes, all the camo skins. Apparently you can't just grab a scaling slider, and pick your size. (Condensed from previous PGI defending their scaling posts).

Which may all be true. Which, as I told them then, would be even more reason to GET IT RIGHT IN THE FIRST BLOODY PLACE.

Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man!

The best defense was when they said that mechs are so huge because they have lots of empty space from missile tubes. But then we get modern mechs with 100 tubes, and they're not huge.

I actually think it looks fine in the image comparing to the Cataphract as well. Taller and slimmer, but it doesn't actually look heavier.

and they had to find space outside the Catapults massive, empty space ears to mount VCRs, too. Surprised they haven't removed the doors yet as "too hard to rig", like on the Centy, etc.

When they go over the cats, the doors will be the first thing they remove. You know it's true. It's probably gonna end up with three 'missile stripes' glued on the front of the box, one for each missile hardpoint, just like the modern cent.

I think scaling is done through some sort of special vision goggles. They come in two forms. There's the "beer version" where people mechs magically look more attractive the more alcohol that is consumed. Then there's the "high version" where everything like film grain is viewed like it was from a Cheech and Chong movie.

As long as people are justifying such vision with the PGI-rose colored glasses, we will continue to get these mechs as currently constituted. It will keep being repeated as long as the Quickdraw is the standard bearer of MWO scaling.

If they had made Zeus Awesome V2.0 the outcry would have been earth shattering. So instead, a smaller group cries it is too small, and then cries a laser boat mech with good agility and XL friendly hitbox, in the middle of LASER HSR META LAND is scaled bigger than other IS heavy mechs that have been on the decline for months now.

PGI, they can not win when they releae a mech, some people will cry and cry no matter what happens.

I say, TY PGI, for making the Zeus smaller so I have a light assault chassis that can take a hit besides the Stalker.
I will kill all of you in my pulse laser boat Grasshoppers. I dont care if it is tall. If I can get 600 dmg games in the Gargamel with medium mech amounts of firepower loadouts, I think I will be fine in this Ed "too tall" Jones insect mech.

Stop crying. Every new mech can't be better then the last one. What do you people want? A game with 100 ton Firemoths so you can shoot people with 80 point alphas from 98% cover? SOUNDS JUST LIKE BATTLETECH TO ME!!

The outcry is because we can't have goldilocks scaling, it is either too small or too large. There wouldn't be as big of a problem if that were the case, but it's not, we have scaling that is all over the place when it comes to mechs.

I feel a mistake being made here is capacity. The Atlas can weight UP TO 100 Tons. Stripped it is 10 tons. A locust stripped weighs only 1 ton. So the chassis itself is not a good indicator of capability and may be designed larger/smaller based on materials etc.

There I've justified some interesting mech scaling decisions by PGI :)

Show the new player the same mech in full ortho view. Biasing the results form a single angle seems pretty dishonest to me.

(Mind you, the Quicky is too bloody big, but last I checked we weren't playing some 2D SouthPark game.....)

Zeus carries the fewest weapons so probably ok. Grasshopper can boat energy so an ST engine will do for that, and jump-jet, so better than the Thor by a bunch.
