Had fun in them during DragonCon '11. And am hoping to get some time during Gencon in August. (bouncing between them and the Artemis games.)

Former Denver crew, here.

Played since 4.0 and have partied with Freezemoon in Japan. I showed him what we yanks are made of, but he spiked a 'martian football' in my face. :) I was a medium mech maniac; hunted people in a stock Hollander II.

Actually thinking of making my own 'pods' since the Denver community fractured and the pods went offline—all just to play MWO in. :P I'll be sure to document the process (if I decided to do it), so you all can see what I churn up.

OK, former San Diego player here, from '94 to '96 while i was working for Uncle Sam. I did play BT from time to time but was mostly a RP player. Fun times.......

that I just experienced again 3 weeks ago. There's 12 active Pods in downtown Minneapolis, MN. When I found out, I drove the 4 hour (one way) trip just to spend a Saturday afternoon reliving memories.

The place is called the Fallout Shelter Arcade and they have a Facebook page if anyone wants to look it up.

Never been in any pod, but I'm building my own little pod and want to add a touch of gaming to it. So far it has cost hundreds. Took 2 years, I think it will take 5 years in total to complete.

Drinks Cooler
Laptop
PC
22" Screen for laptop and one for PC
Digital TV Box
Landline phone
Printer
Compartments for stationary, headset etc
Air Conditioner

Not finished yet. Far from, its a frame with everything held in its own wooden frame to help me decide where to position everything. Some of it has never been used, all brand new, I must be crazy.

It is an experiment to for all those people who work from home plus to figure out how small an office space can be but still offer everything. I have even considered health and fitness. With weights being built inside the walls of my little pod and from inside the pod I will be able to pull handles, give my arms a workout. Took an old multi-gym apart. Just not sure about legs workout but I'll figure out something practical.

Amazing levels of interest came in when I showed how keen I was to add a MechWarrior theme to it. So much I had to take the progress offline. People offered thousands for what I was making. I was like, dude, I got a job I ain't a one man factory. Many gamers want this for the ultimate home experience and believe it or not they are very keen on the idea of a workout also being built into it. I thought that was just me

They had a set in Las Vegas down the street from my house. It's long gone.

They use to have them in the circle center mall in Indianapolis. I use to play about once a week sometimes the guy who was running the pods would play red planet and if you showed up on those nights you got to play for free because he wanted some on to play with. Those we the days.like 12 years ago. :)

Back in the day, I saw a world championship match televised. I remember the nickname "Sea Cucumber" for one of the Japanese team... for real. I have always wanted to check out a Pod.

I did cry when it closed. Literally. I was the regional manager there. I had just spent a month living in Dallas running the store after the general manager left and we had pulled sales up a good fifteen percent in that month. The site was on the way back, the staff was enjoying working there and it showed in how well they took care of the customers. Then the day after I made a job offer for the GM position to the assistant GM of the Indianapolis site my boss called and told me we were closing the site in two days.

On Halloween I had to give the entire staff the news and let them all go. The next time I saw my boss I told her I didn't want to do this job anymore.

The only closing that hit me harder was the BattleTech Center itself.

You may remember me then I played there before it closed, went by the handle of Wolf421 then, played Battletech and Red Planet.
Never knew why one day it was there and the next it was gone. Dude that really sucked the way they closed the location. Heck I even had a job interview there earlier that year. (I didn't get the job)
Isis was one hell of a GM and BT warrior (I fought her in my Master Trials) yepper got my (BEEP) handed to me in a little over a minute too!

I spent many a friday night (when I could get it off) or saturday afternoon playing there back in the mid to late 90's (I come in and nock back a Jolt Cola or two at the bar with one of the sandwiches or fires before jumping into a pod for a match.) Those where the good old days for me. (Single and free and not worrying about how I spent my paycheck)

The worst thing to hear from your boss (We wish you luck in all your future endeavors.) just before they drop the bomb on you that you're being laid off or fired. I can honestly say I've only been fired once in my 30+ years of working.

Just joined this site, and haven't played the beta yet. But I work for a university with a game design program and I am kind of interested in the whole pod idea. I never had the chance to play the Tesla pods. Could be a very interesting project for the DIY crowd.

Never played a Mechwarrior pod game but played on the Gundam (blasphemy!) ones here in Japan many times. It really is bloody good fun.

Heard of them just a bit when they were out but never lived close enough to one to ever see one in person.

Went to Virtual World in Pasadena, CA a couple of times. Loved the hell out of it. Played Red Planet too, but the Battletech Pods were the best. Also got my Technical Readout 3050 for the old borad game there too

Actually, I will admit to never having played table top Battletech. My introduction was via the Battletech pods at Montreal's long defunct Virtual World VR entertainment center in the 90s. It was expensive- $10 for a 10 minute match -but I bought the glossy rulebook they had, and when I was off work I'd stop in to watch other people play on the waiting hall's monitors.

I thought it was THE coolest thing ever invented.
