Man the artwork looks terrible. Wasted the MC on the Sherman and the standard camo colors i use on the Atlas. Now the Atlas has a 'okay-ish' quality but:
Looks bad.

Lordred nudged me about this a couple days ago, and I did some asking around today to see where we might stand on this.
Texture normalization and a 4K pack release are not something that the art department has in production at the moment. Unfortunately, the resources and time available right now aren't going to provide us with the opportunity to work on this in the near future.
What's the point of releasing hideous 1K cammos that only a blind man would buy?
Make them at least 2K, like the Mauler!
Seriously, I paint most of my mechs flat black because the low quality textures hurt my eyes.

But, as long as the everage Gamer has only 2GB of VRAM on his Graphicscards ... there are only few, who are interested in.
AND .. its Cry-Engine. You can see in Star Citizen, what will happen, if you have HUGE Textures.
It will stream the textures, and you will get nasty streaming-texture-popups.
Look at the pillar on the right side. All the details (I love details) on the pillar are only textures. But you can see every LOD-Level while loading it. UGLY
And you NEED lots of VRAM, espaccially in greater monitor-resolutions. Do you observe the "normal" vram-usage on your game NOW?
It fills 4GBs of vram in UHD. NOW. Without greater textures.
So maybe all of you, who are demanding greater resolution textures should check, if you card is able to process them without performance loss.
Maybe PGI have to release a High-Quality-Client for the guys who whant it all :-)

I still think it would be better if they brought every resolution in the game down to 1k and then made a download pack for a 2k or 4k high resolution texture pack, it would shrink the size of the game for the base install and allow hi end users good-looking mechs.

That'd be a decent solution.
But that would require... Effort and CONSISTENCY! *I shudder at the thought!*

Edit:
Well, not even 2GB of my 4GB VRAM.
Edit2: Okay lets be fair, in a regular game its more.
still, could be more. And most of that is because of the high resolution I am playing in
