I'm noticing my sidetorsos being blown off really easily since the last patch. Did the Cataphract get nerfed somehow? Negative quirks?

its CT hitbox was reduced in size. ergo, side torso size increased, relatively speaking.

Why did they do that? I can't even keep my weapons on now. Torso twisting just gets my weapons blown off faster...

This seems like a huge nerf to an already second rate chassis with no outstanding quirks.

....... Why did they adjust the ct? I thought they just smoothed out the model for performance reasons??

Uh. you used to get CT cored almost as fast as the Catapults. if anything this makes you more survivable, unless you're running XL in which case perhaps look at your builds. if anything this is a buff, as you should be better able to protect the CT now.

A buff? Well, no.

What's happening now is that I'm having my STs blown off before my CT even goes orange...

That's not a buff. That's a nerf.

it shouldn't be making that big a difference. most of the time fighting Cataphracts previously i'd core them before they'd taken much damage to the sides. and there is such thing as twisting too much.

spend less time giving them your side torso's if you're feeling like they come off too fast. i'd rather that than CT cored in no time any day, so i dont see why you're complaining.

Well, someone posted this to me on TS, and it looks like they increased each ST by about 30%

I'd say that's 100% a nerf of the CTF...I don't even want to play them now, totally nerfed.

Then you're stuck in a low Elo bracket because before this patch I rarely ever got cored out in a CTF. The Ilya is (was, before being nerfed) my favorite mech in the game. Now I'm getting dearmed nearly every game from ST destruction.

so don't play it? still failing to see the problem. you'll die slower than you did previously, even if you're losing sides slightly faster. like i said, change your twist pattern a bit, and probably make sure you aren't running XL. XL was already dodgy on the Phract and i'd say its def a no go now.

I'm glad to see you're totally on the same page as I am that the CTF was just nerfed.

You're just the kind of fellow who doesn't have an issue with an already mediocre chassis getting even worse.

A little off topic, but I finally decided to use and work on Catapults and I thought I was crazy for thinking Catapults had their CTs obliterated the moment the enemy glances at it. Might be time to buy an XL for the poor thing.

Catapults were always fantastic with XLs.

Cataphracts were always good with STDs.

Now Cataphracts are bad no matter what engine you put in them, because you very quickly become a weaponless engine on legs.

The vast majority of competitive builds on the phract were XL builds.

The only one I remember that used a standard was the 2PPC 1UAC build... There was also the ML/AC20 build, but that one had a pretty short moment in the sun before being eclipsed.

With the level of firepower clan mechs bring, an Inner Sphere mech that isn't XL friendly is rarely viable these days.

Well the craziest part is that the CTF is not viable with an XL *OR* an STD!

I've been running 3xAC5+3xMLs on the Ilya with a STD engine and I can't keep my damn weapons on my mech now no matter how hard I try.

The STs just melt right off...

It's really, really, really, really stupid what they did to the Cataphract.

Then Russ has no clue what he's talking about because someone actually just tested it:

https://www.reddit.c...hract_hitboxes/

Might want to go back and assure Russ that yes, they did change the size of the STs.

I mean it literally says in the patch notes they reduced the size of the CT (which de facto means an increase in the size of the STs).

So either Russ doesn't really pay attention to what goes into the patches or you just completely made up a bunch of bullcrap about Russ "assuring us" that a change listed in the patch notes was just put there as an early April Fool's joke.
