Disclaimer: First of all, this topic is meant to be taken lightheartedly. It contains some, or hopefully, most of the memorable (good-bad-disputable) events of the MWO development timeline. As you'll read through it is also a slight window to the community that crawls over-in-under this forum

So, the stages of development of MW:O as seen by the community(?):

2012 Closed Beta
2012 Gravity adjustment
2012 R&R. Forum melts. Got expunged.
2012 Ghost heat implementation.
2012 Splatcat #neverforgets
2012-09/10: Open Beta announced/made effective - Massive order of cheese from the forums to add to the whine.
2012 "Deep into Community Warfare"
2012-10 Phoenix Pack Release
2012-11 Lurmgeddon I begins.
2012-12 ECM - birth of the godmode Raven 3L
2013-2014 Poptarting Meta
2013 The Hit-Box crisis. A dark era of invincible Spider mechs. (+Lag Shield)
2013 Lurmgeddon II (not sure on the date though)
2013-03 Consumables announced. Forums melt (p2w - locked only mc consumables) .
2013-04 New vision modes for Night Vision and Thermal. Very nice.
2013-08 8v8 turns into 12v12.
2013-08 3rd person view. Forums melt.
2013-09: "Release"
2014-02 UI 2.0. - Clickfest
2014 Lurmgeddon III - NARC became useful and LRMs got a speed buff and nerf on the exact same day (not sure on the date though)
2014-06 Ballistic Nerf
2014 Private matches. Forums melt. (I'm still salty)
2014-06 Clan Invasion - Surprised by their initial balance
2014-06 DirectX 11 (date?)
2014-08 JJ nerf end of the poptarts (yay!) - HGNs shelved.
2014-09 IGP-PGI departure announcement.
2014-09 1 yr anniversary program.
2014-10 Halloween community event, forums melt in love. Forums offer to have babies of developers.
2014-11 The Quirkening! (quirks 1 pass)
2014 Hitreg detection improved
2014-12 Community Warfare release
2014 Clan laser-vomit meta
2014-11 Paulconomy 2.0 - Forums melt.
2015 Regular tournaments/community events. Forums 1/3 melt due the grinding nature of some events.
2015-03 This thread started. Part of the community steps up from the basement of their houses and asks for the head of OP's creator. Mailed them a few condoms so they don't reproduce.
2015 Urbanmech. Ultimate move of 2015 (or ever), hands down.
2015 MASC implementation. This is going to be juicy. Prediction: Forum melts.

Please add/change any date.

I think someone already spent a bunch of time creating a MWO timeline and used it to try and bring back "broken promises". Not saying that's what you did, but that's what this timeline was used for before.

I found the link:
http://www.tiki-toki...-10-23_13:32:00!

But for me that's basically memorable (can't give very specific dates, and my months are probably off.) This is all I can remember by memory. I'm sure more will come to me as time goes on.

Aug '12: I buy into Founder's and join Closed Beta
Aug '12: River City map released
Aug '12: Streaks OP, Commando's exploding. Jenners rule the earth.
Aug/Sept '12: Raven released. Super even more OP
Sept '12: Raven hit boxes OP
Sept - Oct '12: Open Beta announced. A LOT OF PEOPLE SAYING: NO, DON'T DO IT. IT'S WAY TO EARLY.
Sept - Oct '12: Hit reg bad.
Oct '12: Forum warning messages go unheeded, Open Beta powers through.
Oct '12: Oh the horror.
Nov '12: LRMageddon begins.
Nov '12 - Apr '13: Lots of hope in Ask The Dev's posts. (haven't seen most of the things talked about)
March '13: Consumables announced. Forums melt.
Apr '13: New vision modes for Night Vision and Thermal. Very nice.
Apr '13: HSR improved, SRMs usable. Forums rejoice.
Aug '13: 8v8 turns into 12v12.
Consumables not that bad.
Movement Tutorial sometime around here I think.
Aug '13: 3rd person view. Forums melt.
Sept '13: LAUNCH *groan* Definitely not a very exciting time. Nothing special released. No CW. Forums still upset over 3PV.
Sept '13: Talk of CW, Merc corps, Loyalists, etc. Forums hype.
Oct - Nov '13: UI2.0 PTR. Lot's of feedback given.
Dec '13: Clans. Forums melt. Dark times. Totally blew the epic release that could have been had. "Gold" mechs given bad name.
Jan '14: Russ gives lots of info. Sheds light on upcoming things.
Jan '14: Beginning of Dev Vlogs
Feb '14: UI 2.0. No feedback implemented about too many clicks from couple months back, no smurfy view implemented. Convoluted, over-organized, and overall just bad layout. Still stuck with it.
June '14: Clan mechs drop. Surprised by their initial balance (although unbalanced, a lot better than what i expected)
Aug '14: IGP bought out.
Aug '14: CW Phase 1
Sept '14: PGI announces IGP has been bought out.
Sept '14: 1 yr anniversary program
Dec '14: King Crab
Dec '14: CW beta hits.

No, you see, this is "lighthearted". (y'know, so that they can say anyone who says anything about it is overreacting and such.)

It's just to have a laugh to be honest. Things have improved A LOT since last year, particularly after two landmarks, once they got the ownership of the IP extended and they divorced from IGP. Development really took off during/after this transition period. There's work to be done, maps/modes/nerfing the SCR-TBR, but such is life.

Anyone remember the dates of the 1st-4th LRMpocalypses?

First time I ever had nothing left of my Mech but the cockpit - good times.

I think he means HGN, the Highlander. I used to love my 733, but after the JJ nerf it was little more than a 90 ton Atlas wannabe.

Ah, of course. Schrödinger's douche principle - where a person says something confrontational or accusatory and decides on whether they were "just joking" or not based on how everyone reacts.

Please write
2012-09
instead of
09-2012

The latter kills the alignment with lines that only have a year without a month while the first one does not.
See:
2012: stuff
2012-09: only slightly offsetted stuff.

Month first makes it harder to read. Very disturbing and completely unnecessary and easily avoidable.
Immediately makes me think if the author doesn't care about his readers at all and as a consequence question the whole content of the thread.

Lol you sound like me trying to explain to the plebs at work why we need the material designation for a 120 o-ring to be 120v instead of v120.
And when designating locations, the system tracks locations per character. It does not see 12 as twelve, it sees it as, 'one' and then 'two'. Thus Bin111 is not Bin One-hundred and Eleven. It's BinOneOneOne. And BinOneOneOne (Bin111) comes before BinOneTwo (Bin12). And that is why your count batches aren't in order! GET IT?! While Bin11 and Bin12 are right next to each other on this here shelf, Bin111 is on the other side of the room over there some where. The computer doesn't care where Bin111 is, and it doesn't care where Bin11 is. Alphanumerically, it makes sense that the order follows: Bin11, Bin111, Bin12. Even though that is not how they are physically ordered.
And then by this point their eyes are rolling back into their head and their mouth starts foaming and the "off-air" tone is so loud inside their head I can hear it.
And yet here I am, giving them a rage speech that would make Kings look like boys.

It needs to be fluid darnit! IT NEEDS TO MAKE SENSE!!! *slaps everyone*

Jajajaja laughed a lot. So much theory crafting. Appropriate for the thread. Approved.

Every hero need to die - and the Reign of the Catapult did caused the first tears

better to mention November 2012 and how ECM screwed the Solo Queue (and ended my fresh carrier as Solo DC)

I like to remember the mistakes/errors/poor decisions as funny flops, but hey, that's just a theory a game theory.

I remember when we had R&R. And it was all Founders Mechs on the field, because that was pretty much all there was in the game. Ahhh... the days before the first Lurmaggedon.

I remember the days of legends long past... And I weep for all we have lost.

But then I get over it cause we got some pretty cool s**t in the end.

If anyone has a positive or "positive" (controversial) change made by PGI, they are welcome as well. For example, at some moment in 2014, hitreg got revised.
