There ya go. In less time than it takes to read this thread or respond to this post, you can hear from the man himself.

No twitter account is needed to read. Just bookmark it and read.

Russ is often replying to players past midnight.

He has said in the town halls that twitter lets him respond to us fast without wading through 30 pages of arguments.

Town halls, monthly roadmaps and constant twitter. If you feel like PGI is not in communication with the player base, I don't know how to help you.

Yeah that is very enlightening.

now if you click each response and read the corresponding q's then you get an idea of what the hell he was talking about.

still it is meager at best . (and i would argue not quicker than reading a forum post.)

but that is twitter for you

narrow limited information provided in a timely fashion for those who cant be bothered to pay attention to detail.

the whole reason for those asking for forum presence is so we can get meat, because you know we are kinda interested in this game, and like to know the details that go into making it .

The sole use of Twitter to communicate with your customers is extremely unprofessional.

And customers who write complete BS on a gaming Forum is also extremely unprofessional.

But, as I said, it's not the sole method...

He does a monthly road map post laying out all the upcoming patches and progress on existing development.

He has also done multiple 2-3 hour town halls answering questions from the player base, culled from the forums.

So, you are simply wrong. Twitter is simply the fastest method.

Unprofessional?

A guy spending his spare time? On a hobby? A game? Unprofessional?

How dares he!? How dastardly!

How is that ANY different to a quick response in the forum thread, that is buried 20 pages in? If you follow the forum dev tracker and read a one sentence reply, you will also lack context. You also selectively ignored all of the newsworthy quotes, probably because players like Zeece, Bishop Steiner, Roadbeer (and sometimes myself) will make a quick forum post with the information that the payers would want to know. Russ knows we help him out and repost newsworthy stuff in the forums with a link to the tweet.

Are you guys seriously asking Russ to give lengthy response to EVERY forum post that gets filled with 30 pages of trolling? Shouldn't he spend his time actually working on the game, instead?

Generally curious what the hope is for those unhappy in this thread. Have you listened to the town halls? Have you read Zeece's recaps? If Russ made one response a day in the forums, would that make you happy? 2? 10? Or are you just sitting behind a keyboard and complaining because you have nothing better to do?

To be clear, THERE ARE PLENTY of things that we can fairly ***** about in this game right now. I really don't think lack of communication is one of them.

He does twitter because he can take his phone with him everywhere. These forums are tricky to navigate on a phone.

But there is a simple fix, get twitter! It's not going to spy on your or take over your brain. You don't even have to post. And if your sole interest is MWO, only follow Russ, Paul and the other devs. Just rename it "MWitter" (yes I know how incredibly dumb that sounds)

Official information always ends up here. He teases and discusses things on twitter. Pretty simple.

Absolutely this.

Or, y'know, just bookmark his twitter feed on your favorite wireless device or desktop web browser and check it once a day for extra tidbits on the game you love. You don't even need to sign up this way. After you stalk him on Twitter for a while, you may decide to sign up and ask a question. If it's respectful, you'll probably even get a response! From the President of the company that makes the game you love. Sometimes, you find out details that no one else has heard yet, and you can share it with the forums.

This is what is best about social media, right? Otherwise, wait a month for the next, lengthy and official Road map, or any of the official announcements/command chair posts. All of which are in the forums.

Lighten up guys. Can't we all just agree to complain about how [insert mech here] is OP?

I agree with the Twitter haters, I'll never get a Twitter account myself. But that's mainly because I, like most of the MWO playerbase, am in my 30's and it's getting harder each day to accept new things.

My Grandfather refuses to use a cell phone, my Father still listens to vinyl records, and I reject the Twitters. So it goes with each generation.

No problem with the "Get Off My Lawn!" mentality of not wanting to access Twitter. And that's part of the reason why we repost newsworthy tweets here in the forums.

I just don't understand why Russ' use of Twitter, because it is efficient for him, makes people angry. And I certainly don't think it's fair to say that PGI doesn't communicate, just because some of the communication is not your preferred method. Can we agree on that?

Russ Twitter account could just mirror all his posts to here to some "Russ Bullocks Twitter" -thread... shouldn't be that hard to do.

If it's not hard to do, is it worth doing at all?

Instead of that obvious solution, we could instead have a global, massive heat spike that hits everyone in the game every time Russ tweets something. Also, it would double IS dakka rate for the remainder of those matches, because Clams OP. Now, THAT would be something.

I don't see Twitter efficient. I see it as avoiding the real issues and making empty comments to be passed as "interaction".

I don't really care if Russ uses twitter or not. I'm just commenting on why I think so many people here are against it. :D

Perhaps the frequent Town Halls are more to your liking then? I assume you have listened to them all, right?

Greetings all,

There are 'issues' with Twitter currently, appears there was a major security breach.
- Accounts have been 'reset' by Twitter. (At least that's what the e-mail stated.)

If your looking for what's happening on a routine basis from the Dev.'s check out the thread:
http://mwomercs.com/...eloper-tracker/

It's not live, but it will list who's saying what to whom.

Hey guys!

How would you feel about having a pinned thread in General Discussion that gets updated with a post when Russ posts a new tweet?

We'll see what we can do for an automated posting thread, but for the moment it's gonna have to be manually done!

A pinned threat is a good idea, but I'd put it in the Dev Tracker section.

The real problem is Twitter is just a juvenile site that doesn't allow for substantive discussion in any real depth due to the 140-character limit. It's great for headline-style updates, hashtags to grab attention, and quick links to more in-depth articles or commentaries (like news blurbs that link elsewhere), it's almost OK for quick Q&A sessions, but it sucks for real conversation.

A pinned thread is cool and all, but my question is: Why Twitter at all when it comes to the game?

People will be checking that twitter link religiously looking for anything related to the Game (KInd or the reason we are all HERE on these forums) and instead be seeing pics of his lunch most of the time.

Then when he finally Tweets something about the game, most people wont even be able to take part in the conversation unless they make a twitter account and more than likely someone will just make a thread Here about what he said.

If it refers to the game then why not just post it Here instead of Twitter? Not all players have a Twitter account, but yet All the players have a forum account.

Maybe its just me, but I dont see the reasoning behind making a post about a game someplace that doesnt reach your playerbase and doesnt let them participate unless they take added steps to install things they may not be interested in.

Leads me to believe that hes only watching his own Twitter, and not even looking here. Hes only interested in the views of people with Twitter accounts I think. Which is a bit rude imo. The people Here are the ones buying MC and Mech packs (Because you must have an account here to do so) to help support the game.

Cheers

Jax
