Voip was dead on arrival with no way to instant report spammers and children who scream crap during the pre match screen which "hides" the offender. If you want Voip to work, don't allow players to turn it off, and make it easy to report, ie forcing everyone to use it. Otherwise yet another waste of time and resources by PGI.

There needs to be a way to test it out of game. I've tried all the settings and my microphone won't register. Also, a mike click or something to let you know you are transmitting would help to.

You can't hide on the prematch screen anymore. That was fixed the first patch after voip came out.

How does more people disabling VoIP help the game?

When people complain about VOIP being a "failure" I have to wonder how often they use it themselves.

Thing about in game chat is all the organized people already were on teamspeak with teams. There are only a few people for one reason or another in the solo games that want to organize and will use the game chat. And only a small number of those with any idea of what is going on.

Bingo Sulla hit it on the head it was the organized team players playing in the solo MM queue along with the ngng gang and Russ's cronies little pals that cried for VOIP to be put in the game when it had already died twice before it was not the pugs who wanted VIOP or not that many that are true pugs and were not part of the CW team crowd already.

Without target ID (hit R then it says enemy is in A5)with map coordinates(A5)to use VOIP right it is just a nerd fest of rage talk and senseless commands given by players that just want to nerd chat.
VOIP becomes useless even if you want to command and try to help win.

Depends how mad I am at the team ignoring it, or trolls on it before I turn it off. I run both TS, my units and this.

Whenever I use VOIP I've noticed that I tend to win matches, or at least it's a lot closer of a game.

I echo the others. Give it time, it'll catch on.

AHH yes I do been around long before you first week of MWO just posting the truth PUGS wanted new maps new game modes hundreds of usefull fixes ETC VOIP was voted down twice in 3 years and I was these groups bending his=RUSS ear till he said ok lets put it in the game it has not helped MWO overall and many more important thing could have been done to enhance the game.

If Russ does not get rid of his EAR TROLLS this game will continue to decline.

You have to institute player levels and have higher level people identified within the team... even a gold/silver/bronze rating will help...

If a higher level player speaks in voip the presumption is that other players will take notice and listen..

The biggest problem with it is the quality. I am not sure if most people just have terrible mics, or if the codec quality is really low...but most of the time, I cannot understand the person speaking.

The only real problem I have it is that every few matches you get some try hard punk who abuses the team over VoIP. Without 1) a reporting system, and 2) comprehensive enforcement of abuse, I tend to keep it muted.

I really like VOIP, the longer it stays out, the more people will use it, and they will get better at using it.

OMG, I am so tired of the "I'm gonna tattle crowd, bitching about not being able to report someone who offended them by saying, "poopy" once too often...

Grow a spine, thicken your skin, and realize the world don't revolve around your preferences, suck it up and participate in life.

True that since the 'name flash' indicator at the bottom of the middle of screen is, at best, 'randomly effective' in letting you know if you're transmitting.

Some of the most entertaining matches tonight were when random people I didn't know where using the VOIP feature. Some to try and direct where the team was, some to cleverly cajole the team into performing better.

Debatable, but worth a shot.

Again with with the "I wanna tattle on someone" silliness...

There's a mute function, there's the ability to grow a thick skin...

Yep, after years of being used to playing in the deafening silence of ignorance, most 'hard core' pugs just aren't used to the concept of "communication."

I know that when I pug, you'll find it's the "tagged" players, members of units who have been communicating for years, that are the ones commonly "communicating" on VOIP, while the untagged people generally don't.
