Well and 50t Blackjack Omni Version has 26.5t of pod space available !!
The Firestarter Omni has two Flamer plus 13.5 t pod space.
The Avatar 70t Mech with 2 Medium Lasers and 34t pod space
90t Sunder has 36t of pod space.

I don't think they need any special treatment than other omnis.

POP=DEAD
well the current BJ is sleek and XL proven - but the BJ Omni -will lack speed and in the artwork is much wider

the Firestarter Omni - could work - but 13.5t for IS is not much - ok its main problem is space
with only 5 in the LA; 8 in the RA; 3 in the RT; 1 in H and LT - it will be extreme hard to have a good weapon mix - most likely 2 Large Laser and 2 Medium Laser - for 13 Heatsinks

Don't think you can compare it with any 45t ClanOmni ;)

It will be fine the 1-2% quirks with IS weapons will work just as well for IS omnimechs as it does for the lower tier Clan mechs.

Placing the same limitations on them as Clan Omnimechs while giving them access to strictly IS technology puts them at a severe disadvantage compared to both. This is especially true of ones with single heat sinks like the Owens or We could give them the advantages of both, but that creates the opposite problem. How do you think this could be rectified?

An easy one would be to just give them huge quirks, which I suppose is viable. Maybe being able to alter engine size and heat sinks while still having fixed structure/armor type/jets?

We don't really have to worry about them now, since most of them show up in the late 50's and 60's, though the Raptor came out in 3052 which is pretty close. Would make for a good platform to test the concept.

ALL Omnimechs play by Omnimech construction rules...that is the way it should be. If you want IS omnimechs to not suck, stop complaining about clans so hard...

It's not just replair and reload. Omnitech is a purely strategic advantage. But this game has no real strategic layer to take advantage of it. The advantages of maintenance and custom tailoring your loadouts on the jump-ship ride over to fit the anticipated environment just dont happen here. And those advantages will likely never come into play, as the kind of strategic layer required for them to have a credible effect seems to be at odds with the kind of tactical-fixated play PGI is aiming for.

In our application, Omnitech is a solution with no problem.

I've suggested several times, one option would be to let omni's save up to 3 load outs, and let them change them out based on the map / objectives during that 60 second count down we get pre-match. I think that could help give the tactical flexablilty that Omni's should have over battlemechs... as it really does bother me, that we have full mech factory level customization of IS battlemechs in game.

hey that was my idea - ;)
i really had hope when they had this "plans" for the MM while back: "you could keep the guys you have dropped with"
including a ingame menu - that would have been the perfect place for OmniPod swaping

I think the best way to go about introducing both clan battlemechs and IS omnimechs is to make the omnimech construction rules the rules for all clan mechs and the battlemech construction rules the rules for all IS mechs (but letting IS omnis swap pods).

I was thinking more of a drop down menu, that is only avaible to Omni's.

How it could work, would be you click on your mech, and select saved load out 1, 2 or 3. And be good to go, to add a disadvantage to this, Omni's would require 2 to 3 saved load outs to be battle ready.

Keep the same rules that Clan OmniMechs use, locked hardware is locked hardware. I would give in and toss DHS on the all the ones that use SHS, simply due to how PGI did the heat system, although that could cause some space issues.

Considering the IFR has 9T of pod space, and mounts 2 ERLL, seems like your mech comes out ahead...

That would be absurdly OP for IS omnimechs...and would completely gimp the clan battlemechs...

No thanks.

First well not really Ferret is a good share faster and the ERMs are almost as good as ISLs while the ERS are almost as good as the ISMs

About the second - either you or me have problems with reading - i don't get how your answer has anything to do with Roukens statement

Having the same construction rules as the rest of IS mechs would make them OP? Even letting them change omnipods wouldn't make that big of a difference.

Spoiler

Is this keeping the Instant Dynamic Capacity we have now or is this only adjusting Dissipation, for Capacity over time?

I'd be fine boosting up SHS to 0.14, but it looks like DHS would stay at 0.20, which is still an improvement for external DHS!

Rouken is saying let the IS OmniMechs follow the IS Mech construction rules, ie - swap everything and anything, only they have OmniPods. That would definitely not be a good thing and would make the IS Omni's rather OP and give them a distinct edge on the Clans across the board.

I just realized, Gyrok and I agree on something...

So..either I'm very very wrong, or we're right.

Jury is still out, but I don't THINK we're wrong on this....

Well, perhaps you see something I do not. So let me elaborate and you can tell me where I go wrong.

All omnipods do is increase the chances a mech will have the hard points it needs for a given task. So for arguments sake, we will assume that all IS omnimechs have good hard points. Using the IS construction rules means they will be just another IS mech with good hard points. So what unquirked IS mech, with good hard points, is the match of the current clan mechs?
