I started with my stalkers (3rd account, and loved the 3F already)
Mastered the 3F quickly, and then SLOWLY started to try other mechs.
I'm not a real newb.
I now have a mastered Arrow, and Huggin.
All the hero mechs I bought I plan to master.... well most....
My point is, its SLOW....... and I don't like the 3 variants rule....
I think of all my bitching tonight, that's the one thing that is depressing me.
I don't even mind buying them, its playing them.
Every time I buy a mech simply to master the one I want, i'm torn.... "do I master it with MC, or bite the bullet, and grind this thing?"
But I refuse to spend the MC, because that's not paying for something, that's simply paying to NOT do something....
I also struggled with this concept early on in my game life here at MWO. But i came to find out Premium Time is the best way for me to do such a thing. I am getting a bonus on my earrings, I get to play the mech and learn it while getting in some practice(even if it is the PUB queue 9 out of 10 times) and i also spend less money on the Prem Time Via mechs packs, Rewards, Etc, Etc.
But IMO Just buying Premium Time and playing those mechs is the fastest cheapest way to level them. I can earn anywhere from 700-4000 exp in one match. Makes leveling a breeze when each game basically equates to one skill un lock and i can fully elite most mechs in a night of play. But my suggestions would be PREMIUM TIME! if you dont have it already!
Also, just an FYI HERO MECHS ARE OFTEN VERY LACK LUSTER! They are in NO WAY a P2W mechs and give you NO ADVANTAGE (Often the opposite) over the enemy. Mechs like the Ember and Grey Death do nothing other mechs for cbills cannot do better they are often just different like a all energy variant or a chassis or a special set of hardpoints stuff like that. BUt fi you think buying the hero mechs will give you a leg up tech wise you are sadly mistaken.
Also, just because you bought mechs and didn't follow the rules doesn't mean the rules are broken. Yea grinding 3 chassis is a snore fest most the time but thems is the rules.
