I was really tempted to get the Stormcrow to sell, but since I've only got 1 mech on that account and the TDR-9SE(C) comes fully loaded and decked out, I went with it instead. Anyway it was an interesting experience playing pure IS for CW. I discovered practically all popular Clan mech builds have a pretty glaring vulnerability and I set my Stalker up to exploit it. It was quite entertaining if I was on a team that could hold their line.

This was my first ime in CW, and I really enjoyed the event. I played IS, and I think I qualified in my first 12 out of 13 matches. I hit a wall after that when I got dropped into a match against the 228th and got facerolled a few matches before I figured out I could just go to another planet.
Most of all, I was happy that we only needed 20 points and that we have until 11:59pm PST tonight to get them. I was actually able to hang out with my GF this weekend and actually get my chores/errands done. I need one more point which I'll get after work, and I'll probably choose my first SCR
Thanks PGI! I'm totally into CW now, well played.

Ha ha! I was probably with you then for a few of your matches. Yeah, that Jade Falcon unit really sucked ass to face as a pug. At least one time we made them work for it a bit by staying in our drop zone and hiding in the far corners of the ice map. Getting sniped from 800+ meters away by those guys made it a rough time trying to get to 80 points.
At least those guys gave you a small chance to earn a point for the event. I faced 3 light rushes and lost those matches in under 3 minutes and everyone earning a match score under 20. Which made the 40+ min que time to wait for that a bit painful to bear... ;P
Overall, I didn't do too bad for my matches, I got 20 points in 27 matches. Only 2 of those non-point games happened because I made some REALLY bad judgment calls while playing and then trying desperately to get to 80 points... only to end up with 78 and 76... =/
*edit* Damn you metric system and not being incorporated into USA society!

Then I got tired of trying to carry fodder for premades, and went and played something more fun.

faced you three times I think Appogee and your unit was the largest enemy one with 4? :/
you at least put up a fight, seen worse this event, maybe PGI should have composed the trial drop decks a bit better before the event...

<0 Yeah I faced you in all three of my matches last times. I was in a team of 3, the rest of our team were all solo Pugers. Prior to that I played solo over the weekend. I think you had a 7- or 8-man TCAF unit on your teams.
We had some guys on our side who lost two Mechs within 2 minutes (how is that even possible?) and ended the match with 200 total damage from their 4 Mechs. I recall we lost by 22 Mechs defending (!) in one of the matches.
That's the point where I lost all hope

80 was easy (5 out of 5), even for me who only owns two mechs (and 1 module in grand total). So that was a pretty well though out limit from PGI. So, thank you for the Premium Time.
But that's about it, I couldn't be bothered to continue after 5 because: CW is for newbies and people like me who just started (or don't own a lot of stuff) a game mode not to consider coming back to. It's one thing to get roflstomped once in a while in regular PUG where the watitng time and the match are short and you can continue playing when you disconnect right away.
In CW, you are heavily disadvantages not only wrt to gear, but also wrt to premades vs. PUGs. I realize this is a team game and I should be joining a unit. But the attitude I experienced (this may or may not be representative) during CW is not something to make the game enjoyable: Premades acted like they felt disturbed by so many PUGs in their elite world, PUGs outright ran into walls or some just disconnected after having reached 80 pts.
Or, in short (exemplary of my pre-made experience):

Only did 5 to get the PT. No time to waste with arrogance.

What PGI should consider is making CW, as it's the core game mode, if I got it right, more attractive to a wider range of people is, that most people who are not satisfied and leave do not bother to write in the forums about it. They're just gone. Feedback you get in the Forums is from long time users usually happy to get free stuff or complaining about minute details of a particular event.
I think PGI must strive harder to appeal to a little broader audience and make the learning (and gear) curve a little less steep. Or first CW will die (being only attractive for the few 12-mech premades) and then MWO will die too - and we all do not want that.

Failed in two matches one was an auto win, no opponant, the other was basically my team gave up hit a permade 11 and one other, two disco'd out the match, a couple did endless suicide runs, when had they had some balls we might not have won, but people would have got 80 scores, even that match where we basically played 8v12 still managed to get a 66 match score.
Solo pugged through out, and I have to say to soloists like myself, don't bother showing up if you can't take the rough with the smooth, pugs with a good organiser and people willing to listen can turn over premades, it happend plenty in my 20 matches, so if your not going to try, don't arrive and be dead weight.
Other than that I have to say two maybe three matches, were the best matches I've played in MWO, beating a marik team in the last two seconds, rolling a clan premade, in defence(birdies), and taking down a clan wolf/ghost team up in first wave assault, was pretty darned good, concidering we had a four man and eight puggers against two wolf, one ghost group and a couple of singles.
kind of hoping the wait times stay the same, if they do I will play more CW
