Why? I like simulator style games and this is a ton of fun, fun combat, fun customization.
Dont really take breaks 7 dont play any other game.
Faster maps would improve it a lot, by that I mean FPS. I dont see why FPS should suffer when thermal and night vision are used, it should run faster due to the simplicity. If it has to run slower using these features, less maps where there needed would make it better

First and foremost would be the removal of pinpoint accuracy and instant convergence.

Funny that

MWO: Targeting in the table top game had no group fire, and damage from each weapon was randomly distributed across different areas of the 'Mech. Will you be "rebooting" group fire? PS: Do you like my location?

[GARTH] He says he's on top of the TNT roof with binoculars, I think we should answer that.

[PAUL] I wont answer squat unless he has a gun.

Okay seriously, the topic of pin-point accuracy/concentrated damage is something we are going to have to watch very carefully. Theres no real reason why lasers shouldnt be pin-point accurate and ballistic shot munitions shouldnt do area damage. We could go into numerous physics debates discussing how particles (including energy) disseminate over distance but that is not going to be conclusive to balanced gameplay. As for group fire, theres nothing really wrong with the model and it provides a means of making a MechWarrior tactically think about what gets fired and when. Needless to say, gameplay tuning will drive how we approach targeting and concentrated/area damage.

Seems that was their plan

1. Why do you still play this game?
I love the franchise, I also like the gameplay a lot (less twitch based and more tactical).

2. Do you take regulary breaks? If so, why?
I frequently take breaks, I'm coming off of a long one. Their are just too many things vying for my entertainment time and $.

3. How can PGI improve? What would you like to have see it changed?
I've played since beta and although there were several things I wasn't a huge fan of, none of them were dealbreakers for me. I'm not a big fan of ECM, but it can be an interesting dynamic, I also don't like 'ghost heat' but at least at my Elo it did seem to fix a lot of the boating problems. I've had my own pet solutions to various problems, but my background is business not game design and I know enough to realize that my solutions are probably naive no matter how good they seem to me. So my playtime isn't contingent on them making my perfect game. My problem is that there just isn't much to keep me playing and I was never particularly interested in CW (I pretty much solo all the time). I started up again because of the recent weekend events and if there were more of that I would put the game back on my regular rotation but as it is I will probably just put it back on backburner.

Right now I'm playing a ton of Marvel Heroes even though I think MWO is more fun (so MH is getting my money). The reason is simple, they keep bribing me (and I like being bribed). They have frequent events, they give stuff away all the time, they have loyalty rewards that don't punish you for not logging in occasionally and they also release new heroes frequently that are reasonably priced or can be earned in a reasonable amount of time so they gameplay remains dynamic.

Personally I think PGI could take a page from this. I like PGI's events but there should be more of them (perhaps 1+ a month?) and I don't like that they are generally only on the weekends, weekends aren't a good time for me. I would prefer if they lasted a week. This would allow players to space out their playtime more so they don't get burned out by constantly dropping if they don't want to and allow them to work their schedule around it. Some of the events had a bit too stringent of criteria as well, if I play ~5 matches and don't earn a point I turn off the game. There's no malice its just what I personally do. I prefer straight up 'if you win a game you get a point'. I can understand that maybe that can be exploited, but with the recent requirements to earn a 30+ score it forced me to bring out my Assault mechs even though I felt like playing with my mediums and lights. Back in the day I could earn 30+ without thinking but I'm very rusty now.

I really like the game and I try to tell people to try it all the time but I'm not really sure when I'm going to play it again. Sorry for the length.

1. Partly I play because I like the franchise and seeing all the different kinds of mechs come to life. Part is the Marik community.

2. Yes I'm in the middle of one now. There is no singular why. part of it is I get in a rut. Another is I get tired of the metahumping. Part of it is I find other games that draw my interest for a while.

3. I want 3 things.

First, A purpose to CW. By which I mean making planets matter. Logistics, and a player run diplomacy system.

Second, Melee and knockdown mechanics

Third, some kind of stock mode
