Hmm. MWO seems to have a lot of psychics and telepaths playing the game, capable of finding out other players' intentions.

It's not tied to the match rewards. It's an anti C-Bill farming mechanic that was added in closed beta. In early closed beta players could drop in a mech, quit, drop in a new match, quit, drop in a new match quit, etc. Yes they only got the match win/loss rewards plus any salvage if the team managed to win anyways, but they could do 100+ drops an hour with no effort and earn a ton of C-Bills. It was also easily scripted so people could farm C-bills all day while they were at work. The lockout stops that kind of farming.

True enough. The lockout period doesn't have to be the full battle to achieve that though. That's overkill. 5 minute lockout after starting the game would do the same job, and dead people might stop bitching at people for surviving longer than them.

Just die with dignity don't go off in a corner and hide for some magical opening that isn't likely.

I can understand this but most light mechs usually run to the out of bounds line to suicide instead of taking their death, wasting everyones time while they run away from the inevitable.

i can usually tell someone whos hunting from someone who is trying to draw out the game intentionally. if you dont have any damage at all or you have a lot of ammo for that point in the game, its probibly an indication that you did not fight and are unlikely to win anyway.

I honestly don't understand why anyone would like to "preserve" their KDR because it does NOT show who's a better mechwarrior. Details here.

But it is a metric the individual values. Why should WE have a right to tell lil Billy what he MUST track?

After all once I die I relinquished the right to tell other how to play the game. B)

When you enter a match, you willingly enter a match that could take up to the timer to complete. Everyone has the complete freedom of using advanced tactics if they want to. It is a video game. Get over it. If you dont like what the last guy is doing, hit the escape key and click to go to the next match.

Reporting a players position is a reportable offence and should not be used.

Screenshot, email it to Support@mwomercs.com with time and map info of the match.

Get team traitors removed from the game.

This is why you let the light do it his way. They can pull it off, took out 4 mechs at the end and my team kept quite for the minute and a half I needed them to so they could spread out.

Nice story but never seen it happen. Usually a light runs away and shutsdown at the edge of the map. Its kind of obvious what their intentions are when the enemy outnumbers them by about 6 mechs. You arent going to pull off an ambush or do anything but waste time. In this regard i respect the ones that run out of bounds more and there are plenty, this means most just ARE trying to preserve their k/d.

++++ breaking news ++++

when being the last mech, you probably don't have enough time to type your whole mindset to explain it to your 'team'.

they 'team' that doesn't like to watch the light do it his way, should just logg off and get into another match.

Everyone giving away the position of a teammate - who is still in the game - should be banned for a week or more.

exception is, when that last player alive logged off

but everyone telling the enemy 'he is in D4 D3 now' shouldn't be allowed to play

One additional point. A player that is "logged off" might have just suffered a lost connection and might be trying to log back on. You do not know what happened, and it is still team treason if you do report his position.

Follow Wheaton's Law, or someone will send you to support for treason.

That lone light is ineffective and slowing down getting into the next game, I don't care.

The lone light is the most effective at the end of the game. The light relies not on armor, but on speed and strategy. Whereas other mechs use armor as a sort of health bar to death, speed and hitting and running is always available to the light, provided he has both legs. This is why, if any mech is to finish a down and dirty endurance fight, its the light.

Exactly and certain maps only amplify this, its easier to pull it off on certain maps over others. Just so happens on this map which was Canyon JJ's give the light a real advantage if they have more than one equipped. The few times I actually play a heavy or an assault and its less than three mechs left vs a good light pilot I do start to sweat.

Get up to the higher ELO brackets and it happens more frequently, folks in the lowers are still trying to figure out how to shoot and scoot as a light Radar Derp and Seismic are a powerful combination as a light player.

Its not your place. You don't "deserve" to be told anything to keep you from being treasonous.

And when I'm last man, I've got a lot more important things going on than reassuring some entitled brats about my plan.

Had a match last week that speaks to this.

Forest colony, my team folded like a cheap suit, but at least in the process of their push mauled the remaining mechs leaving me alone in my very beat up panther. So I went back to base to see if the turrets could even the odds.

Then I started getting demands by players on voip to just go die. I was highly offended and said "no I am not obliged to present myself for execution. They want my mech, come and get it. Well, turrets got one and smashed another near death. I poked a little and then nothing. I waited. More demands I just die. Again told em no, and id rather get a tie but I wasn't going to charge a stormcrow and lrm stalker in a panther. I was going to play my game.

So I started peaking out and almost got killed by the stormcrow. Having overextended Ihad no choice but to engage. So I did... almost killed the crow, but lost my right arm and ran out of ammo in the process. I took off in one of the craziest wild weasel runs ever. The stalker charged, blew up the turrets
So here I sit once out of the line of fire, weaponless, all turrets gone and shut down. They are capping base. What am i told to do? Go get killed. I angrilly this time tell that player absolutely not. The only thing I have left is the moral victory that they did not kill me and I was going to take that. If he didn't want to wait the next 30 seconds he could log out.

In the end, I had second highest match mode in what was a fairly epic match.

Why is this relevant? They couldn't report my position because EVERYONE knew where I was. Because the players on my team were so selfish, they did not want me to play the game I was dealt. They died, were bored and wouldn't move on.

If you have a problem with the PGI embargo of your "in game" mech, talk to PGI. Demanding someone else ruin their playtime for your convenience is the acme of self centered egotism and you need to re evaluate your priorities and ethics for I submit, they're a mess at best.

It doesn't really matter, giving away teammates coordinates is against the rules and you're being a jerk.

Just because you're incapable of doing something does not mean everyone is as incapable as you. :P

Some people think they are somewhat above the law ... until they rub against a real 1%'er.
