Unfortunately, Heavy Gear lacks the very one thing I like: Warfare! So far, it looks all eSports to me.

But if I am wrong, someone please correct me.
No, you are correct. Heavy Gear isn't like Community Warfare. There's no large galactic conflict or war. Heavy Gear will be like gladiator fighting, where you battle it out and rise through the ranks. StompyBot (the developer) is aiming for a visceral arena environment, where players have to maintain their mechs, buys parts, hire npcs like engineers, campaigners, cheerleaders, mechanics, etc. Its about fighting for fame and glory.
The mechanized suits (called Gears) are more like medium mechs in MWO. Very agile and manoeuvrable. The Devs are aiming for a very deep experience, both in the arena atmosphere of the game, and also the mechanics. The NDA I signed prevents me from divulging too much, but Heavy Gear is one to keep an eye on. As I said, it's still early days. Once the game starts coming together I recommend MWO players to take a look.

So it's another MW:O.....a game you fight arena battles in, gain rank and money, and buy new gear to repeat the process?

There is no need to violate your NDA. I'm one of the first to register with them since they opened it (

When Clans arrived I hopped back into the game to see what has changed. To my dissapointment after almost 2 years of development....nothing changed. Still meaningless team-deathmach, now 12v12 (on maps designed for 8v8...glorious). Couple of new maps and bunch of new Mechs. On top of that terrible hit-reg issues intoduced. New clan mechs kept me playing for a while but again it was becoming boring. And with nerf to payment system I lost my interest completely. Now I only check the forum from time to time, rarely bother to start the game.
EDIT: I actually recenly tried getting back to MW:Living Legends (free Crysis mod) because as far as I remember this was fun....but it's a ghosttown now.

Uh...huh? I'm fairly certain the servers aren't actually running video of the games, so I'm rather confused by this statement here, servers running low FPS? You mean, YOUR FPS was at 30, as in, you hit F9 and it was showing 30 up in the upper left corner?
Hitreg going wonky is due to multiple high latency high loss connections, it's a problem with serverside authorization netcode, sadly, but the advantages do tend to outweigh the disadvantages. Typically the high latency/loss issue easily dealt with by the server simply not allowing anyone with a ping/loss over X for Y time frame to remain connected, but alas, that doesn't work to well for an online game with company run servers in North America as quite a few of the players across the Atlantic and all of the players across the Pacific would be kicked from the servers constantly. That's not a good thing to do to paying customers, and worse to do to POTENTIALLY paying customers, so PGI doesn't do that, despite it being a great way to deal with the problem. What we can do is hope ENOUGH people in Europe and the Pan-Oceanic areas start to play and, most importantly, SPEND MONEY to make setting up regional servers a viable thing for PGI to do.
So get your friends to start playing Europeans and you folks in Oz and Kiwiland, the more and the sooner, the quicker we can get regional servers up for you folks.
FPS for servers mean how often they work, like how often it updates data about hits, damage, position of mechs etc. Here is a pretty good post that explains what it means:
http://www.reddit.co..._affect/cdwm8ub
What I'm saying is if the servers are too slow to keep up with the data that needs to be processed it will have to start dropping data to catch up, thus leading to shots that hit with no damage since the server dropped that data when the data queue was getting too long. And our reticles will still blink red since the game we're running on our computer register a hit, but the servers can just end up not updating that data at all. The very apparent difference of how servers registered damage for the short period it was actually running at 30 FPS vs how it went to crap again afterwards just tells me the server really is not good enough to run MWO.

So, when a few friends who refuse to touch MWO with a 10-foot pole asked me to come play another game with them, I agreed. I got a refund on my Wave 3 pack, but my Urbies will be waiting for me when I come back later.

The meta and cheesy munchkin game play that prevails is also a turn-off. A few games every other day is enough to remind me how far off they missed the target (unless it was to keep it a minimally viable product forever, in which case, they KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK!!!) LoL

I feel like MWO is actually getting worse, and that's mainly due to the influx of new players coupled with a MM system which bunches us together in Pug-mode.. Oh my F*ck!ng GOD, it's awful.

well i hope you don't have plans to go back to Planetside 2 , i've canceled my subscription since the game now is a Lag fest and i mean 16000ms lagspikes and no significant new content for a long time. just a new map and cosmetics.

Saddly some mechs are broken and worst of all people don't accept it because they love to have cheap victories while using exploits.
Worst part comes when some players say that using exploits are a viable "tactic"

Yeah. Sometimes I start thinking, that problem is not in game - problem is in players, who started to play meta builds only and, therefore, those people, who prefer diversity and don't play meta builds only - started sucking hard. I agree, that may be I'm bad player, but...isn't the main intention of MM - to provide teammates and enemies with appropriate level of skill for me? Not to manipulate my freakin W/L ratio and rate CB/XP earning - but to provide enjoyable gameplay! If I'm bad player, then why I'm not being put into team of bad players vs team of bad players? M? May because there are no more "bad" players in this game? Casuals quited and only hardcore "meta" players left? It feels so bad, when you're being kicked from the second game in a row simply for being casual player, who prefer quiet enjoyable game, instead of so called "challenge".

In fact, i think due all the money I invested here, Mechwarrior is the only game I have been playing in the last 2 years... Its weird, you can't get tired of it, even with all the bugs and "variety"... sometimes even playing around in the mechlab is enough to spend a couple hours...

I was playing a lot more CW before the LRM nerf or BUG that arrived in the first patch of 2015. CW is a tactics game and so weapons that support defined tactics like LRMs are effective. Now I am just waiting for PGI to fix the LRM bug as far as CW is concerned, but I do play CW occasionally. CW was fairly balanced with working LRMs, now it's highly weighted to the Attackers so it's just an un-level field of play.
