What Is The Point Of The Lfg Tool?

Forgive my ignorance but I do not understand. At least right now it's working almost exactly the same way that the solo queue normally works. You queue in, get with a bunch of random people, then drop. I don't understand what it's supposed to accomplish.

I think the idea is if you are with a consistent group match to match, you guys will be more motivated to communicate and work together, either by VOIP or with TS. I haven't tried it yet though that is just the impression I got.

If you find a group you perfom good with its really more fun than just random PUG matches.

I just played with a great group who used voice comms and coordinated. Tons of fun.

I dont see the point of communicating with these grouped up people like I do with pugs. Language support or I won't use it.

For some reason they think if a player is in a group they become a better player.

for small player guilds like mine, you had to scour multiple ts3s to cobble a 12-man together...

this allows ppl to quickly find a group, designate a ts3 to meet, build your faction friendslist...

very good feature...

the current LFG tool is more or less so pgi can point and say "We're making progress!"

You have more chance to type things while in the "lobby" and no doubt discussions can be made to join a TS Server for even better communications. You can also see what mechs other players are dropping with and even make changes based on such observations.

If you are happy with your group you know that you can rinse and repeat without worrying about the solo queue.

LFG hopefully introduces group play to the PUGs in a simple manner which hopefully encourages them to expand their views of officially joining units for even better organised group drops. This hopefully leads on to eventual CW participation.

To me i see it as the building block for developing organised group encouragement.

a few days ago I was in a pretty good pug match. the kind that come down to the last minute with only one or two left on each team. The one left on our team was from a popular/internet famous unit. he was in a streak crow, with no backup weapons at all rendering him completely useless at the end of the match so he ran off and shut down and hid. when it was said to him that he should at least throw an medium laser on his build his reply was "yeah yeah. whatever." I kept wondering why wouldn't he take off a ton of ammo and just put a medium laser in the head so he would always have a weapon to use no matter what.

Then it dawned on me...he was used to "coordinating your drop deck to be effective". he didn't have a backup because he was used to his team mates to propping him up.

Think of it as training wheels to get people pulled into units and TS and organized play :)

What do you mean by "language support"?

I'm not trying to be rude at all, I don't understand. Do you mean translation of game UI into other languages aside from English? Or somehow translation software integrated to translate chat in real-time?

Of course there is a point to communicate with them; winning! Calling out targets, scouting, suggestions for tactics, etc.

He means the ability to choose your language so you don't get LFG'd with non-native speaking people.

At least that's the way it's coming across.

Effectively it's a replacement for player lobbies. Not a good replacement, but that's the functionality it's supposed to be simulating. The chance to play more than just one game with a group of people that you don't already know.

its so that instead of waiting in a queue for no one to show up, you instead wait in lfg for no one to show up.

This is one of those challenges that would be better if people would turn their in game voice chat on. Joined a 10 man a few minutes ago, and we got stomped hard 12-0, but I think me and the other guy who were actually communicating and talking were the only ones to score the minimum 30 points to qualify.
