Following other discussion threads on new mechs for the next IS pack, I thought the Dragoon to be extremely viable 70 ton mech and with the type of hardpoints it might support, would be a very interesting, indeed valuable addition to the game. Its potential loadouts:

2B/1E w ECM (AEM-01)
1B/7E (AEM-002)
3M/5E (AEM-003)
1B/4M/3E (AEM-004)

As you can see, all four variants are extremely different. You can play a laserboat / missileboat / as well as a dual AC/10 brawler. Further, being equipped with JJs and ECM natively provides all sorts of other options. Based on the illustrations, it has near jagermech high mounted arms. The only other platform with as much variety would be the Catapult with the energy-heavy Jester and ballistic-possible K2. This might just be the answer to the Hellbringer out of the box. Of concern though would be the rather large torso profile, but again, not much different from the HBR.

It looks good too.

but recognising that it may be overpowered, we could limit its engine so that it doesnt become the cake and all.

As for being extinct. Sure. As for being the icon of a mad man, we already have the Protector. Why not the megatron to the Optimus?

70 ton Jumping ECM Dual Gauss? yes please...

This would probably be the best IS heavy right out of the gate with those high mounted arms and cockpit. Might be a contender for best mech overall tbh.

If Russ is looking for an ECM heavy in timeline that would do the job.. this isn't bad at all.

Which in itself would be a good reason NOT to include it in the game. Also, the mech is a non-entity in BattleTech. A retro-designed mech for the big bad at the time of the fall of the Star League, really intended for historical purposes/scenarios. Note the canon text on the manufacturing line having being completely retooled and no surviving mechs existing. It has no place in 3050 except as an IS Heavy ECM mech with JJ's and Dual Ballistic wet dream.

That would be cool if MWO was set during the Amaris Coup one day.

It's true, though, that this 'mech wouldn't fit into the timeline. It's extinct, and while there might be a rare example of it somewhere which can be reverse-engineered, I don't think anyone would want a machine in their army associated with a genocidal maniac.

Then again that can be said for many characters in the BattleTech Universe (looking at your Jinjiro Kurita) :P

I just want anything included in the game which would make stupid IS diehards stop screaming "Clan OP!!ONE1!" tbh

PGI really doesn't put enough stock in things like Uniqueness why worry about Extinction?

Dragoon sounds pretty good to me. It looks cool and seems very capable. I'd support adding the mech to the game.

Don't want to ruin it but it says that it went extinct by the 2nd Succession War. This obviously means that no one would have access to it in 3051 so ultimately it won't be in game.

While you are right on that front, PGI have outright invented several variants (Shadow Cat P, Enforcer 5P) and included mechs which were close to extinct in this timeframe (King Crab) so i don't think it completely rules it out. Ill agree its pretty unlikely though.

That's true, you shouldn't see many Royal King Crabs running around (the 'B' variant).

And while the Enforcer ENF-5P is a PGI creation, the Shadow Cat P is based on a Jihad-era configuration which utilizes 6 AP Gauss rifles in addition to a HAG/20 and an active probe.

I've been skimming through some BT fluff on Sarna, and there are a lot of mechs that look like they would be rare, yet are in MWO. Mechs like the Grasshopper and Spider were rare and hardly encountered (through the Succession Wars anyway).

I don't think rarity matters as much as timeline for PGI.

Hey, its wishful thinking anyway.

Another rare example would be the Blood Asp. Everyone clamors for this 90-ton Clan omni, but they're mostly confined to the Clan Homeworlds, and only a couple known examples are in the Clan Hell's Horses touman in the Inner Sphere (lore-wise, anyway). But we'll probably see it in the future anyways. It's a cool 'mech :)

Pros

Its 70 tonnes, it jumps, it has ECM, its what Russ is after.
It also doesn't look like diseased, dingos kidney.

Cons

Its an extinct, dead parrot, of a mech

Maybe's

3d model

For every Quick Draw, and King Crab, there is the Awesome, and Battlemaster

it appeared ten years later than the game time though, in 3060
its predecessor, kingfisher, on the other hand appeared 100-200 years ago and remained in the active use
but kingfisher is meh, he doesn't have those shoulder guns

here is a cool clan assault mech with a maradeur-like gun barrel (it's supposed to be twin gauss rifles there if i get in right so it should have two ballistic hardpoints right on its very top)
