Cons

Its an extinct, dead parrot, of a mech

So what you're saying is that it could just be resting?

Following other discussion threads on new mechs for the next IS pack, I thought the Dragoon to be extremely viable 70 ton mech and with the type of hardpoints it might support, would be a very interesting, indeed valuable addition to the game. Its potential loadouts:

As for being extinct. Sure. As for being the icon of a mad man, we already have the Protector. Why not the megatron to the Optimus?

Yeah I mentioned it here in this thread.

Also wrote to Russ about implementing the Dragoon on Twitter but he didn't reply.

it appeared ten years later than the game time though, in 3060
its predecessor, kingfisher, on the other hand appeared 100-200 years ago and remained in the active use
but kingfisher is meh, he doesn't have those shoulder guns

here is a cool clan assault mech with a maradeur-like gun barrel (it's supposed to be twin gauss rifles there if i get in right so it should have two ballistic hardpoints right on its very top)

Kingfisher does have shoulder mounted guns, look at the model:

Those are energy mounts, one in each torso. Its no Blood Asp, but id argue it would be a better assault than the Gladiator, due to not wasting 8 tons on semi useless class I JJs and having Endo steel it has pretty much the same podspace, despite running a standard 360.

Nope, it is an ex parrot. if it wasnt nailed to its perch it would be six foot under, pushing up the daisies

Dragoon sounds pretty good to me. It looks cool and seems very capable. I'd support adding the mech to the game.

Yeah, looks like a pretty good option for an IS ECM Heavy to me too.

The MWO Dragoon is a balance nightmare waiting to happen. We're better off without it.

I agree that the mech may promise to be OP with high weapon mounts, JJs and ECM. What we can do to limit its potency is 1) limit engines to say 300, or even 280 (preferred) 2) give it unfavourable hit boxes (not preferred), or 3) movt nerfs (torso twist angle, speed, etc.). But there should be nothing inherently wrong that gifts IS with a heavy that can hold its own against the Timberwolf / HellBringer.

wouldn't the Champion make a better choice, since it 1:has plenty of production models already, 2: comes back into existence after being lostech and 3: doesn't have almost identical names with a 'mech we already have? really, why have i suddenly have to hear about that crap dragoon so much.....

I do like the Champion. I have supported it in a few other posts.

I think Russ is looking for a potential IS Heavy ECM mech right now. The Dragoon has an ECM variant and the Champion does not. If ECM in a Heavy was important, I could see the Dragoon as a better candidate than the Champion.

Funny thing is, PGI has made fictitious variants before. There is no reason they couldn't make an ECM version of the Champion. I just think they would avoid making a fictional variant just for ECM.

I wouldn't mind a variant of the Champion with ECM added to it. PGI did it with most of the existing IS ECM-capable chassis already.

The only real issue with making the Champion with ECM is it is on the low end of the Heavy class weight wise. At 60 tons it is almost a Medium. Add ECM and you lose some additional tonnage because of that item.

On the plus side though, it could be made to go fast (crack over 100kph with speed tweak) and be scaled a bit on the smaller side of the Heavy.

Ultimately the Chapion coyld be a Heavy mech version of a Cicada. Hmmm

But wouldn't having a Champion Champion be a bit silly? Sounds like a mech that would be piloted by Major Major Major Major...
