Not all Games have a Life Time Subscription as Possibility, but some do have this option... STO has a LTS system for around $300, and $200 on Sale Dates...

LTS pretty much acts as a Life Time Premium Account for Games with no monthly Subscriptions, but does have a few added Perks, for example, something like 200 in game Credits each month and a few other things...

LTS also have included Automatic Veteran Rewards, which is a reward system for the player for so many Days of a payed subscription, so like when you reach 100 days with your paid Sub, you get a Special reward for your Loyalty, 200 Days another reward, 300, 400, 500 ect.. and so on all have a special reward for these Days of a Paid Subscription... However this does not mean it needs a continual Subscription to get the 100, 200 ect.. day reward, you could miss a month or 2 then restart the subscription and the system would continue on from the days you put in with that month Subscription

Thinking about it, the loss of a player on a monthly Sub tends to depend on Shop bought Items to counter the lack of a Monthly Subscription, but the $300 would cover about (for MWO of $10s a Month) 30 Months of a normal Subscription, so the Company could live with that Bonus, but after that 30 months it is no longer covered by that player since he/she is on the LTS... so that would be a loss of income and would have to rely on that player or other players buying items to make up the loss overall

So would be hard to say if MWO could benefit from a Life Time Subscription Deal

Think MWO could have a Life Time Subscription? and or could MWO have a Veteran Rewards system for their Loyal Customers ?

My First Poll, so hopefully it works lol, also let me know if it needs other options...

Lifetime subs are something that I dislike, I'm afraid. I'd have to say no.

From a business point of view, as it is a service. There is no good reason not to create more choices.

As for veteran rewards. These encourage subscription, so again more money. If someone does not like them, they can just ignore them and they don't need to buy lifer.

I suspect people who paid $120, are voting no, because they don't like the idea that their $120 makes them a founder only.

I agree, we have already payed $120 for the Founders system and would seem like a mean thing to pull off something like the LTS system... But this LTS system could be implanted some time down the road, and could even give a discount for those Legendary Founders... who knows

I say yes, but every game I've seen that's sold lifetime subs prelaunch has failed. Hard.

Aren't (or weren't) those games with Life-Time-Subscription all Pay-to-Play?

I recall Champions Online had a LTS for the initial offering for a limited time before pre-launch (I didn't have the cash at the time or I would have gotten in on it). Now they're f2p, with a monthly sub for premium acct status which gives a monthly online store reward. Instead of a veteran award as an item, maybe give a few extra C-Bills for purchasing equipment. Just a thought.

STO was a subscription Based game to start off with, and had the LTS as an option, a great many took that up as an option... however the game later got taken over or merged with another and then STO went to a F2P Model, they still offer LTS as an option and currently has a Sale for the LTS for only $200, when normally its $300

From a player's perspective, I don't see how a LTS would be worth it. Simply giving someone lifetime premium won't be worth it in the long run, as a dedicated player(i.e. one willing to drop $300 on a game) will eventually max everything out, probably well before 30 months worth of game time.

You would have to offer something else, like perhaps a stipend of cash currency. That has its own issues though, as the the devs would have to keep adding a steady supply of cash shop items, or else risk the ire of their most dedicated core fans. At the same time, if they add too much to the cash shop, they'll be seen as money grubbing, just trying to make a buck rather than develop more free content that everyone can use.

So I voted no to the LTS option. I just think that the risks don't outweigh the benefits, neither for us nor PGI.

Veteran rewards, on the other hand, are a good idea, imo. As long as they're cosmetic and don't give any advantages, like mech skins or re-colored lasers or something, it's a good way to give a little something back to fans of the game.

I thought STO went F2P to try to retain the playerbase after the launch of SW:TOR. The timing certainly suggests so. I would also point out how butthurt all the lifetime subscribers were when it was announced that the game was going F2P. Apples and oranges, I know, but worth mentioning.

Lifetime subscriptions are a double edge sword.

As a player they are tempting because I believe I'll be playing the game for a long time and it will save me money.
As a developer it means a block of money up front.

The risk for developers is players that actually use their LTS. If I offer an LTS for 180 bucks and monthly subscription is 15 bucks. I loose money on the LTS after 12 months.

The risk for players is growing bored with the game before they LTS pays for itself, the servers shut down, or its discontinued and replaced by something else as in the case of DCUO.

IF life time subscriptions are offered for MWO I don't think I would get one. I've already shelled out for a founders package so why spend even more capital on a F2P game that I might not be playing in 2-4 months of time?

That is a good point. Can't compare one game to another at the best of time, never mind when the entire model is different.

Do any of you think there is not enough fans willing to pay a lifetime sub for it not to make this game money and that this is a bad thing?

However, I agree on it not being here at launch. Let us founders enjoy that status as the only perk. Get a lifetime sub in there maybe start of 2013 and discount the $120 from the top of it also. That would give us 4 months to play as founders, get an idea of how long we will play the game then be in a position to decide life or not. Actually a lifetime sub offer in time for Christmas would be a smart move.

As for a price. I would say $250.

i personnal dont like lifetime subs ..just for the fact that if a game sinks i feel letdown...also once they reach that level where all those peeps are at lifetime services how could they make more money to improve features.

i would do the monthly as it would give afew over time perks and i can cancel it as needed..kinda like rifts and fallen earth..though i dont think ether have the lifetime but do have the monthly perks sub.

anyway thats just me
blesses,be to to all
may the light of the moon light your way
safe journeys and clear dreams.
