in my oppinion of the whole event.

welcome to the tukayyid clan rofl stomp enjoy re-writing history guys

why do you say these things badger, you must be mad bro.

truth is YES i am mad after giving a little bit of thought and reading some basic fluff of the battle guess what...clans didnt have identical drop patterns, they didnt have identical numbers and they sure as hell didnt use the current in game tactics of overwhelming teamwork to obliterate IS mechs in an instant with heavy point damage weapon builds. zelbriggen anyone?

sorry guys but this is an unfair event from the mechanical get go, then you move onto the elephant in the room, PUG drops against heavy clan companies, voip can only go so far to heard cats and even with some good teamwork you'll bust maybe 2-3 mechs on the enemy side for every 10-13mechs on is.

to compound my maddened status it takes me on average 20 minutes to get into a fight only to be swept aside from well beyond my max range within the first 5minutes

sorry pgi this event has one outcome, CLAN dominance, IS jsut cant cut the mustard here, the big is companies will put up heavy resistance but we'll lose hard and it will simply be a sour feeling overall.

i thought this is part of the lore

Clans will win because IS pugs mechs are junk compare to the stock clan mech. Our pugs will be in trials, mechs.with single.heatsinks and using lrms. Our premades will Kill the clans but in the end we will be out numbered by pos IS mechs.

Ultimately the event will be a disappointment to the majority of IS players. I've been sat in a game Que for 45 minutes now having done 4 consecutive ghost drops. I was looking forward to completing the personal achievements in a structured fashion with a committed team, PUGS or no, but if it takes me an hour to get to an actual game, what is the point in even trying.

Truthfully, win or lose this event ghost drops have removed the "fun" from the game. Whats the point in even trying, I'll go play something else instead.

Trough numerous Twitter exchanges with Russ, it has become clear that Battle of TUKAYYID Event mechanics were crafted in such a way as to COMPLETELY negate the Inner Sphere Quanitative advantage. With but a SINGLE sector up for grabs at any one time, the Clans will ALWAYS be able to source a Team PRIOR to the Ghost Drop counter reaching ZERO. Thus CATAGORICALLY the IS numeric edge has bee CASTRATED for the entirety of the 144-hour Event.

Separately the Inner Sphere SIGNIFICANT advantage in Light Mechs and Light Mech Tactics (Light Rush) is COMPLETELY negated by the fact there will NOT be a single "Attack" mission for the Inner Sphere throughout the 144hrs of the Battle of TUKAYYID Event.

The loss of one or the other Inner Sphere advantage could have been accommodated, adapted to and perhaps overcome.

The loss of BOTH advantages is akin to a PGI-initiated "Pearl Harbor"-like decriment to Inner Sphere likelihood of being competitive during the EVENT.

It is NOT that the Inner Sphere is likely to now lose the Event... it is that Event Mechanics were designed to hamstring what were previously Inner Sphere STRENGTHS.

I admit that I should have anticipated the neutering of the Inner Sphere Light Rush.

But it is the Event-design that SPECIFICALLY castrates the Inner Sphere advantage of Numeric Superiority that was a PGI choice... a choice I obviously was surprised by and do not agree with.

ALL that being said, what are we left with?

An Event that had the Clans race out to a 70% lead which has subsequently been whittled down to 47%.

Now THAT is some exceptionally fine Event metrics IMO.

Yes, I have a serious case of #SourGrapes over Event Mechanics, but as I reflect on it, Event Mechanics weed out the Light Rush CONTROVERSY as well as the NUMERIC SUPERIORITY CONTROVERSY and sets the Event FIRMLY on the issues of Inner Sphere QUIRKS verses the INNATE Clan advantage of Clan Tech (XL engine dynamics, Weapon base-capabilities, etc) and THIS is a fair BETA question to be answered/data gathered from.

Besides providing insight into the question of balancing IS Quirks against Clan Tech, the Event is also proving a wealth of data when the Clans prosecute ONLY "Attack" and "Hold Territory" missions verses the Inner Sphere prosecuting ONLY "Defense" and "Counterattack" missions.

During the MAR CW Event (that saw the Clans lose 50-worlds) each side was able to procedure the FULL range of missions. It was this FULL-RANGE of missions that produced the 53% Clan win percentage. Now that each side has been restricted to two separate sets of mission types: "Attack (with its HEAVY-zerging of the Omega)" and the attrition-based "Hold Territory" missions for the Clans. Attrition-based "Counterattack" and attrition-based "Defense" missions for the Inner Sphere. Here the Clans hold the advantage as the zerging of the Omega (either by IS Lights or Clan Heavies) is a weakness of the CW BETA that still draws substantial PGI attention in trying to lessen the effectiveness of Omega-zerging (either IS Light OR Clan Heavy.)

One additional key note is that approximately an hour ago all 63-Sectors were fully occupied with Combats and there were 54-Inner Sphere Teams in queue and 13-Clan Teams in Queue ALL waiting to drop. In other words more than 1500-gamers were in a match and more than 1600-gamers were sitting in queue awaiting a chance to drop into matche.

THESE NUMBERS ALONE are a win for PGI as the Event is stressing the PGI Event game mechanics as well as the servers. A good move by PGI was right about the Event one-hour mark when additional cores were brought online to better service CW demands.

All manner of data should be flowing to PGI as the Battle of TUKAYYID continues. Just as Russ put out a "CW Metric" post concerning the MAR CW event, I expect a similar collection of metrics to be subsequently discussed by PGI in an addition MWO Forums "Command Chair" thread.

Besides all the faction matters - plus 25 min waiting time for one match...this is a thing which makes the event nearly undoable. PGI - do something. Switching in the waiting fm place 15 to 11 to 20 makes me very unhappy - who wants to spend free daytime with waiting?

Seriously - one match within two hours? I´m upset.

Ok, why eachtime you speak about the clan you basicly say they are OP?
There is only 3 mech viable in CW for urbie sake!

Timber Wolf, Stormcrow and Hellbringer. The rest is far from being dangerous.

And even theses 3 are largely beatable by the quircked inner sphere mechs.

Lots of time, most of them failed miserably, because... You know, Ice Ferret are far from being effective like Raven, Firestarters and even urbanmech?

Against other mechs? Yes they are pretty worthless, but for destroying generators they are perfect, especially with armor quirks and new 1E 1M arm with heat gen quirks.

Except they get devastated in a few hit, they don't really have the jesus hitbox like IS light mechs. ;)

"2 specific nerfs to IS tactics"

The third effect this event is having is it is effectively keeping the better IS teams on ice while they dwell in the queue trying to get matches. The Elite clan teams can queue up at will and stomp all the pugs they can chew through (potentially dropping upto 3-4 times per hour) , any good IS teams are limited to about 1 drop every hour.

How many matches have actually had good teams on both sides, not nearly as many as needed to guage a qualitative advantage either way IMO.

This event is a give away to the Clan players. With their instant drops against a large population of pug players they'll get their 50 matches quickly. They get the event rewards and the faction loyalty rewards while the majority of IS players will be stuck in que.

How many will get their 50 points and just stop? Who could blame them after grinding out 50 CW battles? That will make the IS que time skyrocket.

PGI has real problems with thinking these events and mechanics through.

Your comment Sir, is an excellent point that explains not just Clan Wolf's but also -MS-'s insurmountable lead in the EVENT TOP UNIT category.

While I would dearly like to see the Inner Sphere Factions/Units/Individual-Gamers have at least a shot at gaining "TOP" Event- recognition.. but with current Event-mechanics it just isn't going to happen imo.

You just hit upon a very real future concern for the Event.

By extending the Event until Thursday, PGI only exacerbated the problem you describe.

The primary means PGI has to circumvent this problem would appear to be granting additional "Clan Amnesty / ZERO-time Penalties" for not just individual gamers (as is the current PGI offer), but entire Units to move from the Inner Sphere to the Clan side of the Event.

Any other ideas/recommended fixes, not just for the next Event but as potential remedial action PGI just might be able to implement for the remainder of the is Event?

More than 2-days in and with less than 4-days remaining and there has been a remarkable adjustment to the question of just who will win the Battle of TUKAYYID Event. Where as previously better than 80% of respondents indicated that they believed the Inner Sphere would win, this lead for the Inner Sphere has bee. Reduced to 55% believe the Inner Sphere will persevere and realize the Victory that seemed all to close at hand a mere three days ago.

Yes, it is true that the Clans lost close to 80-worlds (net) in the past month, but will some exceptionally close fought matches, the Clans now routinely dominate the the Battle of TUKAYYID Event for long stretches of the clock.

As the smaller population in the Clans hits 50-wins and pick up there final prize of the Event, there is now a very real concern that Clan gamers will simply go back to Public Queues or begin brief respites/hiatus from MWO gaming as this current event and its 144-hours demands a level of participation never before seen in a PGI Weekend Challenge (mini-Event.)

Time will tell and gaming will prove conclusively (one can only HOPE) who won this past BETA Phase.

Once that is in the books, we can all enjoy a moment or two of FASA-reminisces for those so inclined and then jump right into CW BETA Phase 2!

After a few games I quit out of the event. The servers are laggy, the prizes don't mean anything to me, 12 mans farming pugs, the latter sometimes filled with trial mechs. I can't wait for this to finish and get back to the regular CW.

With the Battle of TUKAYYID Event now complete, I would like to offer my thanks to PGI for giving us Community Warfare's inaguaral Event. It was fun, it was engaging and it proved to be incredibly addicting ~ where did the last 144-hours go!?!

While many of us love to roleplay every now and again, I a, fully aware and appreciate the overwhelmingly GOOD sportsmanship shown my MANY of our fellow MWO-gamers both during the Event and. Ow that is complete. I enjoy gaming with the members of this community and look forward to many matches and Event s yet to come!

And while I have no doubt that, "The Coordinator expected a different result, he is very conscious of all the many sacrifices so many of us made this past week so that we could participate as much as we did." (In Defense of the Inner Sphere for me and mine, an in OPN REVIVAL for our brethren-Clanners gamers.)

May we never lose sight of the fact that it should be our shared enjoyment of our game/MWO brings us TOGETHER rather than the resulting completion putting us ASUNDER.
