My gamble will have to be they realize the target is too high for the time given and extend the event or in some other way fangdangle it into something manageable.
heck did we even need 50 assault matches to win the main prize in the older events?

Now a little about me and MWO. I work Monday-Friday 8-5; once off work I usually end up going home and playing MWO for an hour or two. So I have the whole weekend that I could dedicate to trying to get 40 points for the mech(which I would totally love to do). However, I have things I do every Saturday where I hang out with lots of friends and enjoy life away from work where i can relax and chill. If I stay up extremely late on Saturday (like till 2-4 in the morning) I get in a couple of hours of play. On Sundays, I again have a lot of things I have to take care of to prepare for the coming week. So playing MWO all day Sunday is difficult to do. Then I go to work Monday, so no play time for the event.
My point is, I'm thrilled that y'all are giving us events and rewards. I will try to get some of the lower tier rewards, but I stand absolutely no chance of getting a mech or any of the top tier rewards. So thanks again for the event and rewards, but I (and a lot of players who are like me) won't be enjoying this event very much.

This is the entire reaosn I play MW:O less and less. I feel like I am being punished for not devoting ungodly amounts of time to the game.

Frankly there's no way I'm wasting my weekend desperately trying to hit 40 matches when I already saw how much time I spent last night WAITING for a match due to the new algorithm.

I would love to really participate in the events PGI stages, think they've had some great rewards and some pretty fun idea. But with work, family, general life, I'm lucky if I can play for an hour or two during the week and maybe 3~4 hours over the weekend, assuming I don't get nagged to death by the wife who literally hates it when I play.
I managed to get all 12 rewards in the last event but that was a much more reasonable setup than Tukayyid will be. The last time made it to the Tier 1 reward in one of these challenges was the March 2nd Adder challenge. The last time I made it Tier 2 was...Invasion Challenge in Dec. I don't believe I've made it past Tier 2 in any Tiered challenge, yea, just check, nope never.
Now, I'm a Founder, but with the limited time to play and frankly sup par hardware and even more sup par reflexes I'm not a good player. I'll never be a competative player. I rarely make a score of 80 in CW as I pug drop exclusively and despite trying to follow orders and stay with the team I go down fast. I know I'm not the target demographic for challenges like this but I would like to have some hope of at least getting a participation banner. (And despite being a lousy pilot I've still dropped way too much cash on this game so I am in PGI's market demographic.)
I do want to thank PGI for putting on events like this but I would hope in the future they offer those of us that want to participate but cannot a little bit. Week long events are a huge help and anything big enough to celebrate with a huge battle should have more time than just a weekend.
(Just a note: I managed a very rare 3 hours of play last night, got in 5 CW matches, 2 of which were ghost drops and over in under 2 minutes each. No match lasted longer 20 minutes. Only one of those drops was even semi-close (well, not really, 26-48) and all 3 non ghost drops were losses. So for 3 hours of play I would have scored 0 (ZERO) points. That's way too much time just trying to find a queue with any activity and then waiting to form a team and then waiting for the count-down for someone like me to want to play CW.)

Edit: Why are the rewards so top heavy? The significant rewards start at 35 matches. (30 if you really want a mech bay) Wouldn't it be better to put one of the large rewards like the mech at 10-20 points? Make the players who work weekends and earn more money (for buying robots) happy?
Exactly! I thought we were moving away from these high-point challenges after that 80-point Adder nightmare.
Some of us, you know, work full-time, or have school, or need to eat...and sleep. Which means we have at most maybe 6 hours a day to contribute to this little Mechwarrior project of yours, PGI. And that's before our partners start yelling at us for spending too much time playing videogames.
Come on! I have one day off this weekend, but if I get called up because someone calls out, guess who's not going to Tukayyid?
This is why I refuse to buy premium time and I hate it when it's a reward: I can't freakin' make the most of it!

And right before a map reset? Should be a good time!
May the best faction who's primary color is blue and rhymes with "miner" win!

MOST of these events promote an unhealthy lifestyle given the time constraint/investment PGI dictates. Is that what you want? Is that how you SHOULD be running these events?
One or two events (the Centurion and Thunderbolt) stick out as a fun reward that people can complete in a timely manner, and choose to continue playing, or fulfill other, real life issues and come back to the game later, when those issues are addressed.

Placing that at 40 matches on a weekend-only event immediately tells the players 'Hey, we don't think you guys should get this without devoting huge parts of your weekend to the game.'
In my case, while I'm out of work right now, I have other things I do on the weekend. Regular things. Things that don't require me to give up other activities in order to get good enjoyment and/or rewards out of them. A family birthday. Friends who come up from 15+ miles away just to spend time together. That kind of event.
The rewards to time investment on this essentially can never be enough to make me say 'screw that, I don't give a fetid pair of dingoes' kidneys about these real life things', but the proportion can be warped to the point where I will say 'Holy moon-jumping goat balls, this scrap-rutting event has some ludicrously can-slappingly difficult rewards to reach.'
I'm going to be giving the event a good go, but don't even remotely expect to get anywhere near that 'mech. Not without skipping sleep multiple nights, which I can't afford to do if I want to be awake for my mother's birthday party or if I expect to finish recovering from this cold or if I want to, you know, be at all coherent when I play the game. Or avoid mild brain damage (didn't know that, did you? Skipping sleep for a really extended period of time actually causes permanent issues in the brain, caffeine or no caffeine.)
Goodness knows I'll try, but whoever decided the 'mech should be placed way the table-flipping inferno out there really needs their cranial contents either examined carefully or roughly scrambled with ham, herbs, and bits of cheese, because their egg is either cooking or already hardboiled. Stretch goals are fine and all, but main non-extravagant goals should actually be, you know, attainable by regular people who can't afford to drop every last event on the weekend outside of this in order to faceplant into MWO like an eager carnal services salesperson into- well, you get the picture.
Now that I have your attention via exceptionally colorful language- please consider shuffling the rewards a bit. A champion 'mech is not an appropriate reward for dumping your whole weekend when people who can't afford to do so don't get a 'mech. A hero 'mech possibly, with a standard or champion 'mech earlier on on the rewards list, but not a champion 'mech at the 25+ hour mark.
I sincerely hope you guys are tracking total login time (not play time, since that doesn't include queue waiting) for players who participate and comparing it to rewards earned so you can see that this is a (distressingly large) bit out of hand.
