But which 5 individual variants of those chassis.
For example, my 5 favorite, most played mechs in MWO:
1) HBK-4G (F) Hunchback
-It's my go-to, signature mech when serious off the reservation wrecking needs to happen. Looks great, moves nice and easy, is tough enough to take a hit, and hit back well above it's weight. Don't think I've ever broke 100 damage in it... but 5 kill matches are not uncommon. 8 is my record in it. Nothing fancy, jsut the plain jane ac20 (ammox4), 3xML and a 225std. Old school
2) CN9-D Centurion
- Has supplanted the Wang, mostly because the current HBK-4G just fits my AC20 needs and style better. Absolutely LOVE the balance of this mech. Tough as nails, tanky, at 107 it's decently fast, and it packs deceptive firepower with the 2xSRM4, 2xML and it's autoshotty LB-10X. Probably my most consistent mech, nothing flashy, just never seems to get a bad game, and seems like it needs 550+ dmg and 3 kills like it's on autopilot.
3) UM-R60 Urbanmech
- Oh my. The fun, the lolz..and shockingly...the effectiveness. Still new enough that the R63 or R60L might supplant it when the dust settles, but so far, despite have the lightest armament, my "Ghetto Deputy Dawg" (call him Southland...some of you will figure it out, lol) is by far my most effective. Who knew a LPL, ML and 4xMG could be so fun? He's decently agile, decently tanky, and deceptively strong. And what's more, beside the PNT-10K, the Urbie is the only Light I don't actually suck in.
4) HBK-4J Hunchback
-Inefficient, poorly optimized, slow and dependent on one of the weakest weapon systems in the game. Yet one of my highest avg damage mechs, and it just suits me. Sometimes it's fun to autovomit streams of LRMs (especially on Caustic), despite not having enough ammo, the back up weapons being too hot, and the mech being too slow, lol. Not a proponent of letting others aim for me, prefer to get where I can lase them with my own TAG, but I sure won't pass up a friendly lock or NARC. Out of over 100 mechs, I have....3? With LRMs, currently. This one narrowly nudge out my VND-1AA "Huntress" for the honors.
5) SMN-P Summoner Prime
-Let's be honest. It's....just... bad. But, it's my favorite Heavy in the game. Love the looks, love the mobility, love it's toughness..... hate the "almost there" feel to the firepower (and find the 4ERML and Gauss boring to run) and hoverjets. But it plays mostly like a Medium Mech, and Medium Mechs are what I excel in. Someday (in my fever dreams, lol) I'll almost be as good as Koreanese was. On an off day. Lol. Anyhow....always was my favorite Clan Mech, and Alex's iteration of it has grown on me.... and I even though I have to carry hard to do well in it(as opposed to the scores I get asleep at the wheel in my Timbys), it's the only Clan Mech I actually have FUN in. I run it either Bone Stock, or in my (I) version (yes I have 2) or as a Summoner-M knockoff (instead of the silliness of 2 tons of SSRM ammo, I add a second ton of LB-X).
So there you have it, my 5 Top 5 must have mechs, in MWO as of today. The HBK-4G is my favorite and best, the CN9-D my most consistent and the the Urbie, the most fun. But if I was going to get all but 5 mechs wiped from my account tomorrow, these are the 5 I would choose to keep. Even without the current quirks on the 4G and 9D, they'd stay, though I admit the 4J would be replaced by my VND-1AA in that case. (Just in case someone gets confused how I can reconcile my Quirk thread and liking quirked mechs in this one).
Such Meta, Much Comp, WOW! Right,

How about you?
