When this event was announced, I selected Clan as my faction. Not because the Clans are so OP or whatever, but because I like they way the Clan mechs look (I hate Stalkers).
Fortunately for me, Clan saw less people and their wait times were less.

Had some good drops, a couple of bad ones and I decided to hit the LFG Tool. I found a cool bunch of guys on Saturday night and had a blast rolling with them. Found them again on Sunday and continued to have a great time.

Instant matches, good solid games.
Honestly, LFG has made this event amazing for me.

Still, I really do feel bad about the IS wait times. That sucks.
Wish you guys didn't get penalized for people dropping out of your queue.

Patience is a virtue. But mine has a limit. :(

Sunday was not bad though.

It was their choice to play IS. They wanted to play overpowered Stalkers and Thunderbolts. Thats their own fault.

The best part is I dont even care if Clans win or not. I get absolutely nothing if Clans win. So this whole event is just about getting my 80 match score and collecting as many IS tears as possible.

Have to say, I've never been an advocate of getting rid of convergence, but having participated in Tukayyid.... Apart from completely binning the game, giving us our money back and handing over the rights to someone else, maybe sorting convergence would be a better way forward.

I got 25 games in and thought, you know what, just F*ck this, for good..

I have a Clan account and an IS account. Just been on Hellbore Springs.. hardly got a shot off against the PP FLD of the 12-Dongalleers.. (or whoever they are..) We lost 48-12.

Seems like Clans are now restricted to the Pulse Laser category while IS can pump out quirked AC5s, Er Large Lasers, PPCs and Gauss.. I'm only playing as clan in this because I don't wanna queue!

I have had some really good games, but it's SO open to exploitation. Split the queues if necessary and create 12mans only.. please?!

Grrr!

this here is part of the problem with contests...they want a 'team game' yet everything they do is mostly single player based yet they want CW to be unit based yet most players are not unit based.

Most of us were IS faction long before quirks came into play, so our decision to be IS has nothing to do with them. I do know a number of people who went Clan once the Clan Mechs came out and they saw how powerful they were compared to the IS Mechs. Quite literally the only reason they went Clan, they were OP. None of those people have left the Clans to come back to the IS however, even after the quirks.

Also I'd like to point out that the real balance of power in MWO is easy to see, just look at the Mechs being used in the money tourney, little hint, they aren't Stalkers, Dragons and Thunderbolts...

Que times for IS were long usually, even dropping with a 12 man group, we had to wait 10 minutes on average. Dropping solo in CW I had at least 30 minutes of wait for a drop, over 70 minutes once when there were over 54 drops in the que for IS. It doesn't help that people leave the que after a few minutes and rejoin, that knocks entire drops back in the que, so please, if you aren't willing to wait 30 minutes, don't que up.

Regardless of why you played IS it was still your choice to play IS. You didnt have to.

I agree. Rewarding the top 3 units is fine. But why not reward everyone who helped their faction win? It doesnt make much sense... and it leads to the wrong mentality for players, instead of wanting their team to win, they just want to get their 80 points and dont care if their team wins or loses.

In response to the thread title: Not enjoying it. But my problem is not with this specific event, it's CW in general. Wait times are still long and PUGs stand little chance of victory. As a dedicated PUG player this event is just not interesting to me.

Reading this from an English-person's point of view, I am utterly perplexed...

Anyway...

Just did another match on Tukayyid and came up against a German 12 man unit (TJ) and found they had ALL STALKERS apart from 2 Dragons on Boreal Vault... the dragons were stood on the mound between the gates facing in to help clear up anyone who made it past the 10 stalkers... I'm talking literally here! - This game is far too open to exploitation and the Meta just isn't funny. I'm saddened that blatant abuse is what people are willing to do to get their kicks on here. For the 12 players who weren't in easy mode it was a really sh!tty situation.

Maximum Cheese=Crash N Burn=Byebye MWO...

Yes, it was our choice to be IS, a choice we made years ago in MWO, and some of us made it back in the 80s playing BTech. We didn't pick OUR faction because we wanted OP toys, we picked our faction expecting to be Underpowered compared to the Clans.

I'm thinking you didn't pick to be Clan because you liked being on the underpowered side.

And as for the rewards PGI is giving out, team oriented rewards are because at the end of the day this IS a team oriented game. Personal rewards are a carrot to get solo players into CW, which is very heavily biased to teams. Kind of a no brainer there.

Uhm, Clans having an issue with being outranged by Stalkers using LL... Yes I am aware of their stupidly long range quirks, but I know for a fact that Clans can out range them with more than a single weapon, so....

I've seen a LOT of weird builds this weekend in CW, Clan and IS both. Most of them are not CW friendly builds, straight up, and quite a few were just horrible builds regardless of the setting. If you drop as Clan and are out ranged by the IS, that is entirely on you because the Clans have multiple weapon systems that will out range the IS, even the Stalker. I had enough Clan ERL, guass and ERPPCs fired at me this weekend to know that it's not an issue for the organized units, just seems to be a PUG thing.

No I picked Clan to collect IS tears to use as embryonic fluid for the next generation of clan superbabies.

Well, I skipped the first three days because I had CW-able mechs, but on basics. So I did the grind and skipped the huge waits on the initial day or two. It got me into a unit - which I've yet to drop with since I decided to go for at least speed tweak on everything before dropping - and it got me into CW. I can guarantee I'll be playing more CW, because while I got killed with other IS pugs today by semi-organized clanners and once by a 12 man from 322, we didn't get stomped according to players there who had proper CW experience. If we can hold out for 23 minutes against a rather well-organized 12 man using a randomly assembled pug-containing team, then I can't wait to drop with my unit whether during this event or the next. Because loss or not it was hella fun.

Well, judging by the forums, you will have enough of those to cover a few generations I am thinking. I also see enough tears from the Clans to satisfy the thirst of many of the desert dwellers in the Inner Sphere.

Both sides are full of surat feces if you ask me, the game actually seems to be in a very good spot as far as balance between the Clans and Inner Sphere is concerned. Clans are slightly OP but not an autowin option, and that seems to be about perfect. Some work still needs done, but overall, well balanced.

Me, I just enjoy killing Clans with my IS Mechs that are not quirked to hell and back nor using loadouts to make the most of the quirks they have. A superior opponent is always the best opponent, the Clan Trueborn in me thinks...

My opinion on Tukayyid:

I'm having lots of fun.

I'm a PUG for FRR, and i'm using the LFG to group up and get to 10+ players before launching. This has brought the wait time to 10-15 minutes, which is acceptable.
You get to meet other players and chat a bit while waiting, so the wait feels even shorter.

The games until now have been pretty fun and balanced. All PUGs vs PUGs, hard, well fought games.

Won some, lost some.

It can sure be made better, but i have nothing to complain too much about.

As I thought, this event has mixed results.

Positive notes first:
  • It's alot of people playing and participating. When it's pug vs pug (i.e. nobody's worrying about having as much metacheese as possible), the games are very fun and entertaining, while also challenging and dynamic.
  • There are some organized units who play well without subscribing to the metacheese bandwagon, and facing such units is just as fun, even if I'm losing handily to them.
  • The rewards from faction loyalty & the event rewards are pretty cool.
  • Speed-related hit registration issues have been a little lower than normal for me. Not sure why, but it's neat.

Negative notes next:
  • There's way more IS pug players than Clan ones, and as a result that's severely skewing the qeue and the results of the event.
  • Imbalance exists in highly disproportionate amounts on both sides, in the form of CERML-boating (and ghost heat loopholing) & Streak-6 boating on the Clan side, and in the form of quirks elevating Stalker-4Ns, Dragon-1Ns, Thunderbolts, Grid Irons, and the Firestarter-S to "godmode".
  • Consumables are being tossed all over the place every match. I spend more time shooting down and looking for UAVs than actual mech combat - and have no other choice because of how much of an advantage those things give. That's stupid. And then there's the "Meteor Strike" paytowin options....
  • There are a large number of exploits, glitches, invisible walls, and so on related to map design. It really gets annoying at times.
  • Very limited gameplay due to how chokepoint-centric the maps are. Really wish the gates weren't the only ways in, that the maps were larger and spherical in nature, and allowed for alternate routes, flanks, objective placement, and more.

I was disappointed in CW from the start. It's a 96 mech bloodbath. Twice as many mechs die in half the time on maps that deliberately funnel teams into direct contact. Ugly. The fun of mech to mech battling is mostly lost and gamey tricks abound.

In general, there is no sense of planetary assault, of territorial progress and no real purpose in taking a planet other than to shift the borders on the large map. The cannon is a ridiculous objective. An "orbital" cannon should be in orbit. Speaking of that, if the cannon is operational how are the dropships getting down unmolested? If the we know the attacker has dropships and flying mechs, why do we build a gate on the approach? If we know the defender put up a gate, why are dropping outside of it?

Aside from the chokepoint of death, the maps are themed on environments like taiga and alpine. This is very pretty but has no relation to the "mode" of invasion.

Needless to say, CW left a sour taste for me. I play it now and then to keep up with it, but progress has been slow and decisions not well thought out. CW needs more than a reset. It needs to go back to square one.

The event is a disaster. Knowing that there are more IS players, making it a Clan v. Sphere event was an obvious mistake. It could easily have been broader and more generic - allowing for IS/IS infighting. If indeed it was a "stress test", PGI should have more obviously said so in the fine print AND should not have linked to the lore. (Personally, I don't care about the lore. It's a giant repository of bad science fiction. But some people do care.)

I've played a few games and haven't noticed any fetching differences between the event and the usual CW. Sure, as a solo, it's painfully clear when the other side is organized, but it's still the familiar bloodbath. The same gamey Stormcrow rushes or, if they're defending, the withering stroll up Laser Lane.

The only problem I'm having is 6-16 FpS. By the time I have a shot lined up, I've been killed.

otherwise, the better team keeps right on winning. Which is how its supposed to work.

I really, really dislike all the CW maps (I'm not a big fan of most of the normal mode ones either though). Yesterday after my third frustrating match in a row I checked my stats and saw I've got 9 points for 9 games. I will probably try to get one more point today, but after that I probably won't play in the event anymore. So far I've been really let down by CW, I hadn't played it in quite sometime before this event and I now remember why.
