Catapult, Awesome, Nova, and Summoner

Why?

All of them are abnormally large for their weight. All of them also compete with other mechs of similar weight that are clearly favored (Catapult = almost anything, Awesome = loses to Stalker and Zues, which are both oddly small and tough, Nova = loses to the sacred Stormcrow, and Summoner = loses to any other Clan Heavy.)

The Catapult suffered the further abuse of getting VCR's stuck to its ears. Meanwhile, the Awesome is so hated it'll either never gain anything from the geometry updates or it'll get PPC nipples so its torsos are even easier to hit. And the Nova explodes because of Ghost Heat, which I guess is supposed to be funny or something. And the Summoner... well, it's not that it is terrible, but rather that is was "pre-nerfed" while the other Clan Heavies kept having goodies given to them.

I'd say the Dragon *almost* made it to this list, except for the silly quirks 1 or 2 variants got, but it's a contender for failure.

The Nova is a strong candidate. It was designed when jumpjets were the end-all-be-all of mobility, but before it came out they got a huge nerf. You can just hear the conversation though. "This thing has 12 energy hardpoints AND jumpjets? Jeezis! Nerf the hell out of this thing, stat!"

So it got terrible hitboxes, a massive model, and it literally has the worst agility of any medium mech in the game. Apparently PGI didn't consider the fact that it has no endo, no ferro, and the fact that having more than about eight energy hardpoints really isn't that useful. It did have the one 12 slas gimmick, but even that has been superseded by the Stormcrow now.

It's the Flea. They have already started as much. However, I believe the BJ-1DC is the second most hated mech.
At one time it was decent, bit now.
It has reduced Yaw mobility, unlike other non-jumping BJ variants.
It has lower engine ratings, unlike other non-JJ variants.
It has AC2 quirks, same value as JJ variants
It is the ginger BJ, swept into the corner by PGI.

I hate the mechs that have terrible size scale for their weight class. Dragon comes to mind.

catapult because they have visually defaced it and continually nerfed it.

awesome because they made it comically fat and gave it arguably the worst hero mech in the game (certainly is if you base it on the amount of MC it costs)

Hated: Catapult-K2
Forgotten: Jenner. Has, flat out, the worst quirks in the game. Even the Cataphract and Victor now have better quirks.

Sorry guys, the catapult was a true dev favorite back in the day. in early open beta, EVERY SINGLE CRAZY OP LOADOUT was on a catapult. Splatats, boomcats, dual gauss cats. when we got weapon geometry changes put in, the first thing they did was put giant gun barrels on the beloved K2 so the forums would stop complaining about how they were supposed to be MG mounts.

And then, somthing happened. I don;t know what, maybe it was the pheonix pack, maybe whoever was in love with the K2 quit, i don;t know, but the catapult wasn't updated to go along with the new meta of crazy PPC loadouts, poptarting, and the like. dual gauss was good, but the shiny new Jager could do it with high mounts. SRM got broken, for like a year. Crazy streak aiming was discovered and fixed. All the crazy catapult boat loadouts were either fixed, surpassed, or done better on a different mech.

And suddenly, the Catapult, who had been enjoying life at the top for over a year found itself ignored, cast aside for new shiny mechs, unable to keep up with its older sibling the Stalker on mega PPC alphas, couldn't jump like a Phract 3d, couldn't hill peek like a jager, or run AC40 with an XL so it could move faster than 50KPH. Catapult, found itself the last mech at the party after everyone left. They all went to the next club, and Catapult couldnt get in.

So you see, PGI doesnt hate the mech, it just got ignored. it went from 2k00l4sk00l, to ignored, and then to misfit where the other kids picked on it. Those VCR ears? thats the mech equivolent of a wedgie. PGI doesn't hate it, PGI just joined in with the other bullies and picked on it too.

No, when it comes to grudges, I gotta go with Victor. they designed it well, and then seeing it used for evil(meta poptart evil) they continually **** on it until it was just a shadow of what it could be, and then ignore it on quirk passes like it is in time out yet. Naughty naughty Victor, shame on you for being a tryhard first choice. You go stand in the corner for 2 years until we figure out what to do with you.

Firstly . . . This is not an anti PGI post.

Which of the current mechs do you think PGI has gotten the most wrong, either because of law or just out of "they could be awesome just if ..."

I would like to propose the Nova.
Bigger and fatter than I should be.
Slower than it should be. ( comparatively )
What no missile points ....

On the plus side it is one of the few mechs that feels like a large stomppy robot ...

I'd pilot a billion armless Novas for a billion years if I didn't have to get back in my Awesome.

You *can* do 600 damage games in locusts with stock loadouts and single heatsinks if the enemy is braindead enough, that doesn't make it in any capacity a good build.

Saying "I did x in y once every 2000 matches" doesn't prove a thing, anyone can cherry pick results.

I think the lynx is probably the best mech in the game at the moment my regular score is ~ 350 going up to 550 on a good day ...
It feels like one of the few light mechs you can actually use in the role of scout .... But I really do suck in anything above a medium.

Sorry but skills have nothing to do with the thread. I'm light pilot too, and I can do well with my Lynx....but I do way better in other lights.

About scout role.... well, I really would like recon and scout role to be useful. But with those tiny maps we have.....

Anyway PGI hate (or indifference) for the Lynx is been established when they didn't offer config. F as reincorcement.
Even if all Lynx pilots were asking it.

I've done over 700dmg with 3 kills in a Spider-5V.

Don't make it a good mech...

I would like to propose: The Flea.

A 'mech designed and shown off as the 18th mech for MWO.

Now more than 40 mechs later... it's still not in the game.

PGI has considered "other ventures" or "lost interest in making it" or so some users on the forum have claimed.

And yes the Nova feels right as a large stompy robot. ^_^
