Sorry guys, the catapult was a true dev favorite back in the day. in early open beta, EVERY SINGLE CRAZY OP LOADOUT was on a catapult. Splatats, boomcats, dual gauss cats. when we got weapon geometry changes put in, the first thing they did was put giant gun barrels on the beloved K2 so the forums would stop complaining about how they were supposed to be MG mounts.
And then, somthing happened. I don;t know what, maybe it was the pheonix pack, maybe whoever was in love with the K2 quit, i don;t know, but the catapult wasn't updated to go along with the new meta of crazy PPC loadouts, poptarting, and the like. dual gauss was good, but the shiny new Jager could do it with high mounts. SRM got broken, for like a year. Crazy streak aiming was discovered and fixed. All the crazy catapult boat loadouts were either fixed, surpassed, or done better on a different mech.
And suddenly, the Catapult, who had been enjoying life at the top for over a year found itself ignored, cast aside for new shiny mechs, unable to keep up with its older sibling the Stalker on mega PPC alphas, couldn't jump like a Phract 3d, couldn't hill peek like a jager, or run AC40 with an XL so it could move faster than 50KPH. Catapult, found itself the last mech at the party after everyone left. They all went to the next club, and Catapult couldnt get in.
So you see, PGI doesnt hate the mech, it just got ignored. it went from 2k00l4sk00l, to ignored, and then to misfit where the other kids picked on it. Those VCR ears? thats the mech equivolent of a wedgie. PGI doesn't hate it, PGI just joined in with the other bullies and picked on it too.
No, when it comes to grudges, I gotta go with Victor. they designed it well, and then seeing it used for evil(meta poptart evil) they continually **** on it until it was just a shadow of what it could be, and then ignore it on quirk passes like it is in time out yet. Naughty naughty Victor, shame on you for being a tryhard first choice. You go stand in the corner for 2 years until we figure out what to do with you.
