Damn, I find this joystick to be rather sexy. It might just be the very reason I'll buy it. Curse my lack of objectivity.

Hey, the biggest complaint about it is that it falls apart at the drop of a hat. If you're willing to be extra careful, it sounds like a good stick, performance-wise

this thing just arrived:

Tested on IL2 and the feedback is just nice. the only drawback i see is the throttle control (Centered at the back of the base?... nuts), but i'm waiting for a separated throttle, so no worries :)

A question for anyone uses a stick and pedals: Do you prefer using the pedals for torso twist, or for turning, and then using the stick for twist? And then of people who have tried this, did you end up just ditching the pedals and just going for a stick twist function to operate the torso twist?
Thanks for any input anybody has in this area, as I am curious for when I get my own sticks and pedals.

Ok... No way that thing belongs anywhere outside of a 'Mech cockpit. And here I was all set to buy a Saitek X52.... I must have both!!!!!

I'll try to be careful with it. I'm not the kind of player who takes out his rage on the input devices. :)

I looked at a couple of reviews on YouTube, and I did notice that it has a light base. I guess if I'm going to get one of these, I'd better velcro it to the table.

Don't know if you mean mine or Long Wang's picture. Mine is a Saitek Cyborg EVO Force, Long Wang's is a Saitek Cyborg F.L.Y. 5

Stats and stuff on the F.L.Y. 5

I think they don't brake that easy. I've had a ms sidewinder force feedback, a logitech wingman extreme and this one, and the first 2 worked fine (and still do) for years, and this new one seems the same quality. Of course, this are cheap sticks, and if you abuse them they brake sooner than a 940, but if you don't hit them everytime you miss a shot they stand nice.

Don't like pedals to twist, nor turn. While i use the pedals for the rudder when at flight sims, I got used to do both with the stick at mechwarrior, and that's how i work. Of course, you need a stick with rudder twist control, and it depends on what you are used to, or which way you start and learn. Every way is fine if you like it.

I have this stick and have been using it with MWLL for a while now, and it is a bit fragile...especially the 4 thumb buttons that around the HAT (they are super flimsy and prone to snap off under pressure).

So you don't need to be a chronic hardware abuser to break this one. The main reason I got this stick was that I wanted to use it in my left hand (throttle on the y axis turning on the x) and mouse in my right, and this stick is about as close to ambidextrous as you are going to get.

but like I said earlier in the thread, I'm planning on using my new G940 for MWO.

Currently when I play MWLL I use the stick for throttle and turning and mouse for torso twist/aiming. In the past I have used the peddles for turnign and stick for twist/aiming and trottle for forward/reverse, and that is my intention for MWO as long as the G940 is supported

Way too expensive. State-of-the-art controller btw. Logitech made a milestone with this one adding the Force Feedback to a Hotas IMO.

Question: What game play style is everyone basing their joystick selections on? Fixed sight (MW4) or floating (MW3)? I will not give up my mouse if there is a floating sight. I would use a free look button on the mouse for pitch and torso and a joystick in the left hand for turning. I'd probably use the joystick y-axis for throttle control.

by "floating sight" do you mean that you just point the cursor where you want to hit and pull the trigger? I would hate that, far too easy and unrealistic, becoming more of a flinch game.

Unrealistic? It's 3049. Fixed sights are sooo last millenia.

I'm expecting fixed, and purchased a joystick accordingly. Although, the throttle does have a mouse nub thingie on it.

Agree. Not much joysticks have an analog-like nub hat: most of them have a POV (or two, or three...) so i guess devs are not thinking we all are going to play with two joysticks: one to move around and another one to aim, while you're using your throttle and shooting two weapon groups. That's sick.

The Warthog is expensive, but it's a piece of art and very well constructed. I mean c'mon you get functioning switches that *click* and trim wheels.

Saving up for the G940 myself, would love to hear more opinions from any owners about it.

Edit: also plan on playing Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover with it

The Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog is top notch kit, to be sure. It can make sense to chose it if you have the funds, and fly dual engine aircraft combat sims. Does it make a great choice for piloting a mech sim? Well... how do you plan to control torso twist?
The HOTAS Warthog does not have a twisting stick. If you plan to use rudder pedals for part of your control scheme, then the Warthog HOTAS could probably work well for you. If you aren't using rudder pedals with it, I suspect it's not going to be a great choice for mech sim'ing.

Some pluses... if you plan to center-mount it (stick between the legs), you can remove that rectangular base plate. The T.A.R.G.E.T. software has provisions for off-setting the output to compensate for mounting the stick with the approx. 15 degree angle typically utilized to keep the stick manipulation comfortable/ergonomic.

If I had the funds available, I'd choose it for DCS-A10C in a heartbeat. For mech sim'ing, not so much.
