a great pack if your starting out, an outstanding pack for laser enthusiasts
a terrible or mediocre pack for anyone who has more than 10 mechs

This is the issue players who have a large stable will be facing if they only look at the hardpoints. Most of the new pack can be summed up in the HBK-4P.

Still, the concept art is great. I haven't had much disposable income for awhile now but I'm sure I'll get around to picking some of these up. :)

However, only the Mauler-P's will be any good at LRM missiles as I maintain that you MUST bring a TAG laser with you if you want to use LRM's. The two P models are the only ones that can spare an energy slot for a TAG laser.

I am hoping that if a Hero Mauler comes out it will be a good missile boat. http://mwomercs.com/...ame-as-long-as/

The higher engine cap on the WLF-1 caught my eye. I toyed around with smurfy and made some calculations and that mech would have a top speed of 145.8 kph / 160.4 kph speed tweaked. That's the fastest 35t we would have and it still has the tons for 4 ML + 1 LL or 4 MPL + 1 ML. Now I read some posts saying the Wolfhound could have the size of a Panther. Imagine a 160 kph Panther with 5 energy hardpoints.

Depending on size, hitboxes and quirks this thing has the potential to be the new meta light!

Possibly. JJs are still important thing to have for a fast Light though.

Where are the IS Medium and Heavy mechs? I know PGI loves the Clans but really?

Well I guess Ill give my 2 cents

Wolfhound: Before even seeing the rest of the package this one made me groan. Yet another 35 ton Laser boat this time without JJs. To top it off all the variants are practically identical. It doesn't really add anything new. I would much rather have seen a Javelin. I'm always up for more variety on the battlefield but...

I guess I do know why they chose the Wolfhound. People wanted it. They think it looks cool. Its piloted by one of the heroes from the books. I get that. What I don't get is the art. Adding a mech people thing look cool and then making it look nothing like a Wolfhound is a bizzare choice. IF you didnt tell me that was a Wolfhound I couldnt identify it and even after you tell me I'm just taking your word for it.

Crab: I kinda like this one but its more laser vomit. The unique mech geometry ad crab btinds is the only thing that makes me even consider grabbing this one. There woudl probably have been better choices. Assassin and Dervish for example. However the way everyone went gaga over the King Crab the Crab was inevitable and it doesnt suprise me that it is in this pack.

Black Knight: More Laser Vomit. Seriously I could swallow these Laser boating mechs alot easier if they werent all three in this same package. Are we out of mechs that don't use lasers? Also why go to the trouble od making 4 variants of a mech that has an ECM variant and not put in the ECM variant? Presumably you want these packs to sell. Why not add something that would make it sell? At least the art looks cool. To me anyway

Mauler: I was never a big Mauler fan but I do like the look of this. Maybe its just refreshing to see something other than a Laser. I like LRM's I like the idea of quad 4's Maybe a dual AC20 loadout would be cool. Some ER LL's. I think I might enjoy running around with those.

So as for buying the pack...I would really have to do some soul searching. Right now I'm siding with just getting the Mauler Ala Carte but honestly I've been really burned out on MWO lately. I don't want the Wolfhound. The other three are passable. The Black Knight looks cool I guess but its a visual thing. I dunno. Ive bought packs that had mechs I didnt really like before but MWO had been more frustrating than fun lately.

Crab and Black Knight look good. Mauler looks like it'll have good hardpoints.

But I'm not going to shell out just for 3 Maulers, and I'm not going to shell out for a bunch of laserboats (no matter how much I like the look) and 3 Maulers.

As it stands, CW is still broken and I'm not buying this pack meaning I'll only get to pilot the Mauler in February 2016 when available using c-bills. I'll be too immersed in Star Citizen by then to give a hoot about mwo.

Wolfhound, trying hard to see how that isn't the panther model. It looks almost the same with 4 almost identical variants. So quirks will be the difference.

Crab, interesting but seesh all the variants are the same again. Only difference is the JJ one and probably quirks again.

BlackKnight, grasshopper with a helmet and no jump jets, all the variants are the same give or take a single energy hard point. So quirks again.

Mauler, at last a mech with at least differences between the variants. Quite like the look of it.

I buy all the packs because of the value when all the pre-order stuff is added together, premium, colours, items etc. Struggling to justify this past the $20 one for free 4 mechs + Jager(c) + premium + items. Maybe upgrade later if my disappointment subsides.

I would have like to see at least some variation.

Wah Wah Wah, PGI just can't win can they? The community specifically asks for the Crab, Black Knight and Mauler and you all complain? Seriously....

Everyone is just feeling the fustration of the meta being lasers and this pack being energy focused. If the meta was something else I'm sure people wouldn't be so critical of this pack.

Buy or don't buy it, the meta will change and people will come to enjoy these mechs.

Wallet Closed sorry: not interested in cash grabs

I was excited and impressed with the R1 package and bought the big package, still disappointed that we were sold a fancy cool badge and ended up with an 8 bit spear.

Not so excited with this R2 pack as I really do not see the value or any significant variants that I can not mimic fairly close with currently owned mechs.

As MWO grows at a snails pace I find the game becoming more and more stagnant. 1hr pr 1 point in CW, lack of good content. We really need maps, community mapping tools and much better CW content.

I really would buy the R2 pack just for some variation but $80 is just off the chart, might consider $40 but not $80, if PGI needs money so bad they might consider in game sponsoring like in river city the Citadel could become the Intel Citadel, Caustic Vally could be marked with Nvidia mining operations or some other ingame billboards. Just a thought.

Not bothered about meta as that slowly changes. Just think its off where the only difference in variants will be quirks. Feels wrong like some of the gift store reinforcements. And this is coming from a whale.

Didn't they say we were going to get these?

I am very excited for the Crab (as I am mainly a medium pilot), so I'll probably buy the $40 package eventually.
Wolfhound looks pretty fun, though I fear the Firestarted will make it obsolete.
Only thing that could save the Wolfhound would be quirks, and I'm not sure I like the idea of more over-quirked mechs (pleeeease PGI can't you just change the Firestarter quirks to focus more on Flamers [ie. crit chance] so that it makes sense to give the Wolfhound crazy laser quirks. The Wolfhound should be the laser king of the light world IMO. Firestarter should be crit lord).

I probably won't go past the Crab package, because I am not very interested in IS heavies, and the Black Knight looks rather bland for hardpoints (love the design though).
The Mauler's design just makes me sad, though. The old designs were very unique and had so much character, while the MWO design is basically a box with some appendages. Almost doesn't look like a Mauler to me.

I'm the exact opposite to the OP when it comes to taste in mechs. I love asymmetrical looking mechs.

I'm only interrested in the Crab when it comes to performance though. More specificly the Crab 37SL with JJ's since it might compete with my Vindicator 1AA.
Could use the other Crab's too but speed alone won't get me far.

The Wolfhound has no JJ's and one arm is a shield arm...i don't like shieldarms.
Black Knight and Mauler are both utterly useless to me at this moment. No JJ's or decent speed.

I won't be buying this package ( I bought the last one), because PGI have delivered a who lot of energy boats, which tend to get boring fast, IMO. I /may/ buy the Mauler a-la-carte, as it will probably top the Stalker as the assault missile boat, end generally looks like it can be built in a few different interesting ways.

I noticed they changed the black knight's head from the first (gold-colored) concept art - I really liked the first head better.

Also, the Crab is BEAUTIFUL, but I hope they stick with the original source material's art variations and have at least one version with a full claw-cowl on each arm.
