The amount of negativity in this thread is just a shame. No wonder the devs make a wide one around this forum....

If I would be a dev I wouldnt give two shitts about you guys and just do my thing, knowing I got your stinking whale money neverthanless

You misunderstand this thread.

Angry people here want to give PGI money.

Many aren't irrational fanboys though, and won't just hand over money no matter how bad the mech's are.

Those whales exist, but I doubt they alone can keep the game afloat forever.

they'll probably give it a hero 'mech that has ECM. just no ***** given.

I just find it odd that PGI is trying to get money off of fans of the one game in the series that devs and players alike (for the most part) treated as a taboo subject, a mistake to never be repeated. And how ironic is it that the previous and current meta (jump sniping and laser hill poking) are exactly the meta from MW4 at shorter ranges?

i don't know why. pot tarts and hillhumpers are the natural progression of the most common online player, those gits that think they're super pro snipers and the rest of the team is there to support their awesome killstreak (that never actually happens). they exist in large numbers in any and all games, so the meta revolves around the fact they're the predominant style. and money is the same color no matter how you get it.

It's amusing a particular poster than claims that the King Crab competes with the Dire Wolf is talking about balance.

Some people are not being honest with themselves... so go figure.

I think he understood just fine. You and everyone else are having your whiny circle jerk over hating one of the mechs in this pack that might actually be good.

If nothing else, hold off on the whine fest until after we know the quirks. It's literally impossible to gauge how good a mech will be without seeing them.

What they should do with this thing too make it unique is actually give it a shield. Change the artwork and make it have a shield that covers the whole torso, head, and halfway down the legs if your twisted with that arm facing the enemy. Then double or even triple the armor and internals on that arm. Would actually make the mech usefull for leading a charge through a gate or a heavily defended corner. Otherwise were just going to have another laser vomit IS mech with low harpoints and no jjs.

Why is this a bad thing? We don't have a 75 tonner that can laser boat. Options are good.

Everyone ******* and moans about PGI supposedly being money grubbers trying to release the newest best mechs for cash only. But when they release more average mechs everyone ******* that they aren't good enough. Get over yourselves.

I do. I might be little crazy though.

I am a little crazy too. but having a mini-Atlas which people under-estimate, and then disgorging AC20, missiles and lasers as while the poor enemy focuses on 'that Whale' is very very fun.

Pity the black knight is only going to vomit streaks of light.

Weapon placement near the mech's CoG is brilliant design, implying it was in fact designed by engineers and not video gamers. It minimizes rotational moments on the mech caused by recoil by the weapon and from movements of the mech on the weapon...all improve weapon accuracy.

These aren't squat weapon platforms...unlike any other weapons platform ever: they are tall, small based(doesn't have a wide supporting base) weapon platforms that walk, run and jump jet about on rough terrain, frequently firing rapid fire bursts.

A good engineer builds a war machine that makes all that good stuff happen. A great engineer finds a way to make all that happen while despite the law of physics. If you notice how virtually all MBT's are designed, they do NOT place the pivot of the main cannon at the center of gravity or center of rotation of the tracks. If you watch them fire the gun aimed sideways they rock noticably. Oh and Iowa-class (& many other) battleships too. Oh and AC30 gun ships. Oh and Bradley APC's. The list can go on & on, but I think any idiot would get the point.

Aside from the AC2 & MG, the ballistics in this game fire slow enough where even a king crab with a smallish engine can torso twist 30 degrees between shots. They also have a suspension unlike ANY suspension used on military vehicles, which presumably can "lean" into the shot to negate most/all the recoil effects. Even so, they've put recoil into certain mechs, Hunchy & Atlas are two I can recall while firing ac20 rounds. The former firing from nearly the top of it's body, yet it doesn't break the game.

So I fail to see why it'd be such a problem for a Black Knight or Crab to have hardpoints that focus on firing while protected. My only guess is certain players want to see more ballistics in the crotch.

But we actually thought the Resistance 1 pack could be good. People were hyped for the Grasshopper being a beastly mech. The Enforcer certainly had potential. People weren't expecting much from the Zeus and Panther but they might have been the best 2 from the bunch.

Nothing, barring insane quirks, will make the Wolfhound, Crab, and Black Knight worthwhile. They could have the best hitboxes in the game but if they have no guns it won't matter.

Yeah, it's my waifu mech, too. I've been waiting for it since 2012. Have also not grab dealed since 2012.

So they tell me, here's a black knight. I look, every variant is largely the same, and the guns are mounted at waist level. So no buy.

If it was good, people would buy. That's how it usually is.

Dead on arrival.

Nice hardpoints.

Just cuz it doesnt have 14 Overquirked PPC hardpoints in the head doesnt make it DoA.....if that was the case, all mechs besides the stalker are DoA....

And the Zeus actually has rather high mounted guns.....The warhawk should follow suit.,

I'm pretty sure the Warhawk's guns are closer to the cockpit than the Zeus's guns.

at least a borg laser, but too bad IS LL have 2 slots.

maybe, but nearly all MW4 mechs are ugly as ****, MW3 did a way better jpb, even with older graphics.

Well, the Crab in MW4 was MekTeks. I did it on my nights off while working a graveyard shift at my real job back then. As for MW3 vrs MW4. I agree with you on some mechs, but naturally I'm gonna keep many of our mechs as favorites. (Though some of the things we (MekTek not Microsoft, won't speak for them) made were also incredibly ugly, hell we were learning on the job though.)

Well the Grasshopper was a decent (not top, but decent) heavy mech ruined by towering over even the Awesome and being a giant fire magnet. Ok when height cover wasn't a factor I guess.

The Black Knight might be similar but hopefully the traits help compensate for the low hard points and high chassis. I'll still do my best to master it though, I have fond memories of these mechs from old games.

You read only what you want to read, do you? A lot of people in this thread are complaining that we have laser boat no. 234326535 incoming. Exactly what this interesting meta needs: moar lazerz!11!!

It could still be great for MPL brawling like a Heavy 5SS, but otherwise because low hardpoints so no ridge-humping LPL/LL/ERLL/PPC thing going for it.
