Hasn't anyone else noticed that the Black Knight is nothing but a 75 ton Awesome 8Q?

The hard points are complete trash. This was not designed in a Mech Factory or by an Engineer. It was designed in an Art Studio by an artist. No offence to Alex, because the art looks really great... But I do blame whoever placed the weapons down low for ruining this Mech and wasting the programmer hours used to create it.

DOA. Will have to be quirked to life because it is a trash design.

Call me bitter, but I do have basic levels of expectation for a combat game. There are no dice-rolls here, so hard point locations DO matter. This Mech looks like an Aston Martin, but will drive like a Pinto. It's a hangar-ornament, not a combat vehicle.

Good to know that while clanners receive Cauldron-Born, Shadow Cat and Hankyu the Inner Sphere will receive Black Knight with Awful Garbage hardpoints.

Please Remove Mauler and replace with Hatamoto-Chi and add Melee as well, arigato.

It's almost as though humanoid mechs are generally not well suited to MWO's mechanics and the good ones are the exception rather than the rule

On the plus side, coming up with a Hero variant should be pretty easy.

It's either black knight or onion.

Onion is terrible, but the black knight costs a minimum of 35 dollars. Therefore, my choice is option C: c-bill madcat.

I'm sad that the Crab isn't the MW4 version with the nice sleek angles, and crab claws/ASSAULT LASERS, the crab legs look nice though, gotta love double reverse legs.

It's obvious to me that they intentionally gimped the Black Knight in order to maintain the TimberWolf's status as "better than the Inner Sphere equivalent."

Never forget - Russ tweeted on the eve of Timberwolf's launch that it won't be as OP as TableTop, but it will be able to beat the pants off an Orion.

But the madcat was gonna be better than it anyway, because it's got clantech. PGI needs to abandon this weird dedication to bad choices.

They need to stop trying to appease BattleTech fans. The idea of "ClanTech" is poisonous to a PvP game where both sides are supposed to be valid choices. There should be Apples Tech and Oranges Tech, not CrapTech and GoodTech.

So, it's a grasshopper with a head laser instead of a head missile. Looks like I can keep my money.

If only Resistance wave one had quirks like the top example at any point in time.

But that Grasshopper AMS range quirk, though!

Can't wait to see the Black Knight get a useless 10% PPC velocity bonus and then some random-ass 10% medium laser cooldown bonus because, obviously, quirk choices are made by a blind dart toss.

Then it can truly be considered a "Resistance Pack" mech.

+2.5% AMS rate of fire.
+20 structure points in arms.
+50% small laser range.

Ironically enough a lot of the MW4 redesigns would turn a lot of bad mechs in this game into good ones because MW4 had a love affair with eye-level weapon hardpoints

This thing would almost certainly be a monster with MWO's mechanics at play

Weapon placement near the mech's CoG is brilliant design, implying it was in fact designed by engineers and not video gamers. It minimizes rotational moments on the mech caused by recoil by the weapon and from movements of the mech on the weapon...all improve weapon accuracy.

These aren't squat weapon platforms...unlike any other weapons platform ever: they are tall, small based(doesn't have a wide supporting base) weapon platforms that walk, run and jump jet about on rough terrain, frequently firing rapid fire bursts.

If those ST hard points were mounted just a little lower and closer together it wouldn't hurt performance much more than the current positions, but having crotch-mounted weapons would at least add to the lulz factor.

The only thing I looked for in the Black Knight was a possible ECM variant, so I wasn't expecting much after the ECM Griffin came out. I didn't think they'd actually go out of their way to gimp it with ridiculous hardpoint locations. I may reach 300 million cbills in the bank before they put out an IS 'mech worth buying -and by that I mean better at combat than the 'mechs I have now.

Ths may or may not be on the same catagory as the problems with the black knight.
But in the books, didn't "Grinner" Phelan Kell's Wolfhound have ECM?
