i talked with one of my unit mates today, we been playing in a group of 2.
he feels the same way as i do: this game is unplayable if you dont have a good group of at least 6 people around.

why?

most players have no clue how to play. especially if you have a mechs that are all about teambased play.
i seen alot of units today that have no teamplay. that doesnt understand anything.
they just rush center terra therma on assault mode. i asked them what is there in the center. a base? why do you go there?
simple answer of them: TO WIN!

ye..... a single jenner killed 2 of them while they where sitting in a group of 6.

trust me, this game would be alot more fun if the majority of players would learn more abotu their fails.

Same on this Snow map where everyone likes to be king of the hill. The hill has not ******* value. In fact more than often its a death trap. There are much better spots to hold elsewhere on the map. But nobody ever goes there. I feel the same about Terra Therma.

Most people just played to get their free stuff and got out as soon as they had the points.

Did 50 points, took the Masakari, left CW (until the next challnge with some worthy prize).

yep i told my team yesterday to NOT go hill. our assaults need too much time. we moved to J5 or so and we won. close btu it was a win and something else. it was DIFFERENT and EXCITING. because it was fairly new to fight there.

Emerald Tiaga, is that the one you can kill a couple of O-gens from outside the gate?
Learned that trick over the event, I was the filler for an 11 man group.
I felt like God, we stomped the crap outta them, got to spawn camp the drop point and everything, I actually wept a bit, as I knew exactly how helpless, how hopeless it was for them when in five minutes it was 36 to 8

you can thank PGI for this

they needed to stop 12 mans from pug smashing because the vast majority of players are casual players who pug and are not in a 12 man. They could have created separate queues long ago but they didn't

and now people are leaving and this game's servers will soon be no more, i haven't seen so many people leave a game so quickly since Everquest 2

You realize that most 12-man premades are just average players? Plenty of people in units are being carried by others just like anywhere else in the game. You clearly don't have very much experience fighting premades as a solo player. Units have a jump on strategies that work because they are communicating with each other and they have accepted to follow someone taking the lead. In time what works and doesn't work will disseminate among the solo crowd. This will only happen if the solo crowd has the intestinal fortitude to rise to the challenge. *hint, hint*

After the big event I need a break, although I pop in from time to time on the weekends. I played around 30 hours of CW in one week. PGI should vary the intensity of events so as not to burn out players, especially casuals. It's clear that they are working out how to do this otherwise we wouldn't have gotten the freebie quick faction change option that they offered.

If you are afraid of being stomped consider this. Since CW I see much more team work in the solo queue. If 3 or 4 of us CW veterans end up in a solo match and your team doesn't, you are going to get obliterated. No solo queue is going to save you.

CW is like any other moba, except there are no moba features.

It's been a ghost town since inception.

Cuz just like Everquest 2 doesnt make a good PVP game, MWO doesnt make a good moba.

Solaris is for 1v1 combat and other moba stuff, but MWO is a universe wide battlemech combat game. Should be and fits best when its made more like MW1-4+xpacs and Mechcommander series. It just doesnt make a good 3 ways to attack, wash rinse repeat, deathball, laser vomit meta game...

OH BROTHER.........thats the same drivel, blame the solos that is driving US OUT, and making your CW a very boring, lonely place.
Overlooking that solo players account for 70+% of what income PGI makes-
You forgot to factor in those drops all assign who takes what, who rushes first, who does this, that and is clearly MORE than 12 normal guys just dropping in to have fun....pfffft

It takes too long to conquer a planet now. You see "Your planet is under attack and needs defence" but you ignore it because we know they're not going to conquer the planet in time anyway..

This. What I've said mostly since the beginning of CW. The number of players who left the BoT-Event without a single qualifying match or the ones who - for whatever reasons - did that after getting one point should give PGI a hint about the learning and motivational curve of the so called "hard mode" or "core game". They utterly need to fix this BEFORE going to Steam with MWO, because that's the last chance of major numbers of players coming to MWO and giving it a try.

If they botch this, CW and MWO will be bead, played by a couple of hundred people and not being able to sustain a developer studio.

Now, even though this sounds quite negative, I've decided to give a little more of my money to the devs, hoping there's still hope for MWO which I really WANT to SUCCEED.

Its quite the dilemma isnt it?

Most people are more casual players like me. But CW wasnt made for me or people like me, of which we are constantly reminded. Which is all fine and dandy.

So since it wasnt made for me or people like me, we stay away from it. But when we stay away from it the CW activity dies way down to what looks to me like the same hand full of units just fighting each other. Which is also fine and dandy.

But yet PGI wants me and people like me to play CW, so they have events and rewards to entice me and people like me to go play CW.

And then after the event is over, me and people like me quit playing CW again because CW wasnt made for me or people like me.

And thus the cycle continues.

Kind of a shame really. PGI has been putting so much effort into CW (which is good), but yet its avoided by most of us because it was never intended for us.

After 60-some battles this last event; sorta burned myself out on CW for a bit. Taking a wee break and just fartin' around in public solo queues.

Dropping solo on a mode that basically requires 12 people on the same page is sub-optimal, yes.

You see it when you do group drop, you try to keep the pugs on the same page, but there is always that one guy that has to be different and manages to lose all four mechs somewhere in the middle of the second wave.

Its a team based game, being a "hardcore solo" player in a game with NO single player mode is ALWAYS going to be a recipe for failure.

Now add on that CW rewards are basically garbage, other than the free mech bays, you make more money in the pug queue.
Example, I only pub if I'm grinding a mech, that means that in a mech that isn't elited, likely not moduled out and still playing with the loadouts, I'll average 140,000 a match. Now in the drop time for a single CW game I can get in 5-6 pub drops (play till death, quit, drop the next variant) that is 840,000 for as long as I sit at the computer, 800,000 is a 2500 point CW game, which I do regularly, but not enough to count on, my average is likley in 500,000 range AND subtract at least 280,000 for consumables.

The numbers don't add up, if you are playing CW for ANY reason other than to play CW you are doing it wrong, and the people that like CW at least put forth the effort to get on coms and act like they have a clue.

I believe many people take a break from the exhausting Tukayyid event. Perhaps it aslo scared players away from WMO entirely, only the next few weeks can tell.

<old man looks at the young people and thinks, nothing changes, 20% of the problem is PGI, 80% of the problem is players>

Very well, then. Eliminate the solo queue entirely, this game can't divide the playerbase any more aka the buckets quotes. Create a solo CW queue, bring over the old maps but modified for CW. Also use the current and new CW maps along with the solo maps. Example: a bigger River City and Forest Colony, some maps are ready to go. Make this queue use 2 or 3 drops, not the full 4 drops. Let people get LP from this but at 25% of the rate. Have the victories count for less in taking a region, maybe 25% or less. There is more that will need to be done, but that is just an example short list.

Now PGI with it's limited resources can focus on CW and the rest of the game. If they are legit, they will eventually add more dimensions to the game. I hope they are doing more than just milking this title, I'm still withholding judgement on this but that is another topic. They need to [add dimension] since there is competition on the horizon and one title (not BT) is entering Alpha stage. (If you seen it, you know what they are adding and it is much more pve than MWO has. Will see if they can deliver OFC)

I still say 80% of the problem is players attitudes and ability or willingness to adapt.

To be precise, they scream about how everyone should join a big unit, but until then "they suck," and how CW is the "land of real skill," but the free wins handed out by PUG stomps are somehow part of that "real skill."

Given that level of insanity and rage, is it any wonder why casuals and PUGS - most of the game's population avoids CW?

We've said it for months - waiting forever to be rolled is NOT a viable game mode, but nobody wants to listen. PGI apparently thinks it's fine or just caters to the whales, while the vocal minority wants the free wins handed to them so they can trumpet their "skill." Meanwhile, everyone else just leaves CW.

These people who say join a unit or else you suck, as you say, are the same ones I talk about that are merely average players who don't realize they are just average players being carried by the few better players in their units.

However, people like you annoy me just as much. Why do you listen to these immature brats? Why do you not rise to the challenge of a solo player like me (who is a dedicated pugger)? Why do you continuously cry stomp when I know for a fact many of your matches against premades ended 32-48 or some such and down to the last minute of the timer? Why do you stick to your ideas of poor sportsmanship?

Didn't your high school phys ed teacher or coach teach you anything about sportsmanship, your conduct, your attitude, fighting the good fight?
