The phract has no lt/rt hardpoints which are the only high mounts on any phract. It will be low slung weapons only.

The battlemaster will be a double ams battlemaster but that's not so hot.

and being a Phract, it will not be XL friendly either, so it's going to be very weapon limited, of moderate mobility, mediocre hardpoints, and can't jump. Oh my, how unfair to the Clans! As opposed to taking a 65 ton mech capable of doing 90 kph with an ImmortalXL, with 2 super high energy hardpoints, the tonnage and heatsinks to use them, the CTF will be a combat liability, that only really exists to carry ECM.

And Immortal XL engines, 2 crit DHS, etc.

Really, you gotta stop being a buster and learn to let go of the QQ, man.

Some people love their CrutchTech.

Hope none misunderstand, always excited to get a new mech, especially one with ECM, but trying to say this is somehow game changing is a joke.

Oh, totally agreed. I'm hoping it somehow proves good enough to be a useful niche mech in Solo Casual play, but ECM ain't enough for it to make inroads against Thuds and Gauss Jagers for competitive and CW play.

Heck, the GRF-2N is OK, but it's hardly a metabreaker, either, but some folks seriously seem to need their Crutchtech, as PP said.

So, IS gets 55 ton ECM medium and 70 ton ECM heavy?

Clans get 65 ton ECM heavy and 45 ton ECM medium...

...

<_<

And a 30 ton ECM light that is actually good.

If we're going to have infinite ECM, can we get the Awesome 9Q?

Think of it - an Awesome with ECM... do you dare run such a horrible chassis to get ECM? It's an actual trade-off!

All these new mechs are totally game changing. In fact, I have changed to several other games. :)

Eh, TBH, IS didn't need an ECM Heavy. Something more productive could have been released.

With the Black Knight coming and the current giant Grasshopper I can't think of a better mech for my Heavy slots than ECM CTF.

There is the potential to do some serious PUG queue drops.

The proliferation of ECM 'mechs will effectively turned radar off. Radar is already dumbed down in this game and the active/passive mechanics of prior games is sadly missing. Now it's just a bring a few ECM capable 'mechs at no cost and radar is basically turned off outside of BAP range. Basically, more ECM 'mechs makes the game even less interesting.

They should do something to mix things up a bit, but if I were to make a suggestion it'd just be referring back to earlier games which were much better in this regard, and do PGI even have the capability to actually engineer anything different at this stage?

In summary ECM as implemented is crap, until recently it was easy to ignore this crap since ECM was relatively rare, now it's more prevalent, and turning radar off blanket fashion makes the game even less interesting.

Why hold back. Just give it 5 ECM slots.

radar in this game already does way too much

mechs shouldn't be able to share their radar data without master-slave modules and they do

It's coming alright...

The problem is, it can(should)not take a Gauss in the torso with an XL engine (instant death), and it cannot take a Gauss with something meaningful (something other than 3-4 IS MLs (lets face it, it isn't going to have more than 4E hardpoints)) with a STD engine, therefore it will at best be mediocre.

Hellbringer runs 90, has a high ballistic hardpoint and 4 high energy hardpoints that can sport 400 m 1 ton lasers, and can sport a Gauss in the Torso without dying when it explodes.

Cataphract will run somewhere in the 70s, will likely have low hardpoints for the ballistic and the energies if the current Phracts are any indication (the high energy hardpoints are in the torsos in the other ones, the 0X gets no torso energy), and cannot run a Gauss with an XL.

In what world will this Cataphract ever surpass the Hellbringer? There is literally nothing, barring an AC10 non-JJ meta, that would make this mech better than a Hellbringer.

Remember that old saying about arguing with an idiot and getting brought down to their level so they can beat you..........very very applicable in this instance. Vass has it right.

Not at all, I'm saying that's his goal so tread lightly, or listen to the voice of experience. (Vass in this case)
