The Public Test Server should be up soon...
For those of us at work, would anyone be willing to share some screenshots of the new mechlab?
Thanks!
I'll update this OP with any screenshots posted.

Thanks Chenkenstien!

This the general layout when you click mechlab tab.
Posted Image

Selecting your mech to edit or start a match.
Posted Image

Loadout editing with mech stats toggled. Otherwise it shrinks to lower right corner.

This is the Smurfy layout.
Posted Image

Hover over the Warehouse tab and your equipment drops down, letting you drag and drop.

Thanks Roadkill!

Already screenshots of it posted way back in April.

They're not shy about saying that they're copying the Smurfy style of mechlab, with all the menus on the right side now and the ability to disable and enable them, as well as more information like how many critical slots are left on your mech, although that info is in the lower right instead of the middle left of the screen.

The warehouse covers the left arm and part of the left torso, are we supposed to move it around the screen in order to place parts?

Also, the "smurfy" view appears to not be the default, do you need to go through the "classic" view and then click again?

They seriously need to hire a GUI designer.

What a mess.

The default view is "column" which only shows a single location on the Mech at a time. The "smurfy" view is called "expanded". On lower-res screens, you'll have to use column view in order to place equipment in locations that are covered when using expanded.

On high res screens (like my 1920 x 1200, which honestly isn't that high res) there's a ton of wasted space and the text/buttons are pretty tiny and difficult to use.

I.e. the UI doesn't scale.

Ahh man... I usually change mech every match. How many blasted clicks are they adding with this new UI?

It's still bad, and PGI should feel bad (but won't).

Like, the old view has the column on the left side - while all the stuff you want to put on the mech is on the right side.

Why? I feel that it would get worse on a widescreen monitor.

IMO aesthetically they should move the 'Mech internals into the center of the screen... but functionally I hope it holds up. :P
