Daily Missions

Daily Missions:
It would be nice to have these in game for basic things like a little bonus for completing a specific objective. It would be something small to be required done and the reward would be simple as well.
So here is a list of Objectives which you would only get one a day:
Destroy 5 enemy components.
Get 2 Kills.
Get 5 Kill Assists.
Get 3 Kill Assists in one match.
Get 5 Tag/Narc Assists.
Get 2 Protected Medium in one match.
...
and so on
A list of Rewards, which again you would only get one of these when you complete a daily:
100 GXP
1 Advanced UAV
1 Advanced Artilary Strike
1 Advanced Air Strike
50,000 C-Bills
5 Double Heat Sinks
1 Medium Laser
...
1 Gauss Rifle
and so on
It would be something that automatically gets reset every 24 hours to a random objective and reward, and the greatest part about this is? That anyone can easily participate where as the weekend events not everyone can participate, but this way anyone can get their daily done when they can play. This will boost people wanting to play more on a daily bases than just getting their x2 for each mech they want to get one done for.
I would like to get everyone's opinion (devs, players, and the what nots):
- Would you want a system like this added into the game ontop of everything else?
- What objectives would you think is reasonable for a daily objective that is not already stated?
- What reward would you think is reasonable for a daily reward that is not already stated?
- If you do not like the idea of a daily object system then why not? Give depth to your response please.
- Would you recommend it be a feature to be turned off/on at dev will? So for example if PGI only wanted to give out rewards for the weekend event but not for the daily.
- Any other question and can form with in reason please.

On something like what you suggested, I'd rather have something like a ranking systems for the adventurous kind of players where if you complete a set number of objectives you would rank up.
Each rank would only mean you are more or less of an adventurous player, more or less accurate, more or less active as a player... and so on.
I don't want to pass as someone raining on your parade here, I do like the idea of the daily missions, but I don't agree with the rewards selected.

The different factions have different in-game characters with names and portraits that give the player different missions. The rewards for the missions can be in-game items or loyalty points, for example. Daily missions don't have a new mission briefing each time, but every time you get a new mission (e.g. win 20 matches using the gauss rifle, for our new research), you get a mission briefing with your commanding officer. This sort of stuff is nice for both keeping the player motivated through missions and rewards, and also creating a bit of immersion and making your faction choice influence more than the little icon next to your name. Imagine getting a mission briefing from famous contemporary Battletech characters. Maybe even with a bit of lore thrown in, to familiarize new players with the Battletech universe.
A man can dream. I'm not holding my breath though. Seems like this sort of stuff would take PGI a very long time to do.

I can sorta agree with the to much free stuff, but me personally I just want some objective other than grinding when none of my friends or unit are on to hang with. Some objective to just keep me going for it while I grind daily.

I do understand that and also share Alistair's vision.
Just didn't like the reward system, maybe LP would be nice and possibly more in context with the missions.
Anyway, I repeat, I like the idea of missions. It's something that's lacking on this game and would retain much more players than the currently stale gaming mode.

If it's daily, I'd keep it to just some C-Bills and GXP.
I like the idea. I only play about 2 days a week, so it wouldn't do much for me, but it would be fun

In other games, they often make me incredibly frustrated.
Like: "Get 5 kills" suddenly everyone KSs all my kills, and the "this should take half an hour" daily becomes a 3 hour grind.
I understand it's just misfortune, but my god is it infuriating.
Even worse, many games make dailies the primary source of income: if that happens, i might as well go play something else.

Im not saying quit, but now is a great time to take a break since the Steam launch should be an awsome time to come back. This is a great example of how taking a break of which I have had many from Mechwarrior, is much more enjoyable.
At the moment I play 1 or 2 Faction battles to chip away at rank and 1 or 2 regular queue nbattles for creds. Looking forward to the Steam launch.

You example of the mission using the gauss rifle doesnt sound fun but the idea of getting missions or story from characters and the rest is awsome. This is how its done in great books or movies or games.
I am jealous of Kurita's style in alot of ways but I am also jealous at the thought that House Steiner players could be awarded top rank medal from Melissa Steiner herself.
Completely off topic but you just know those clanners for Jade Falcon will have some smokin hot chic for a leader.

If Jade Falcon had Nicolai Malthus giving missions with glowing tattoos and everything, I would switch factions in a heartbeat

Missions like "play x amount of missions in Y mech" or "with Z weapon" are a simple way of making players try different builds. It makes a little bit more sense in Star Conflict, because it has more special equipment and role warfare, but it could work in MWO too. Obviously, you could also do stuff like "NARC 30 mechs" or "Use BAP to counter ECM in 10 battles", but it's more about giving the player a long line of minor tasks, presented in a certain narrative, which contribute to the overall experience. It's not as fun as "Destroy the convoy and escort the enemy APC back to base", but it's a lot cheaper and easier for PGI to do.

No, because it would either result in a decrease on goodies given out by regular game play (thus giving a boost to daily players and a nerf to none-daily players), plus any extra bits given out means less impetus to spend cash so the general prices would go up.

- The game runs on purchases, not subscription. Any increase in freebies given out means the prices have to go up to keep things stable as the demand would go down. If they keep it stable it'll be by nerfing returns for none daily players.
- To max out the daily rewards you would need a whole load of mechs to do the various tasks, so more moaning about needing mechs (not great when the prices just went up...)
- people would be doing things in game beneficial to their daily rewards rather than towards the combat situation at that time
- You either have too few missions, in which case people will moan that it's a cheap 'gimmie', or you have too many missions, in which case people will moan that they can't max out every day. Either way: constant moaning on a whole new topic!!
- Basically you've just upped the prices, screwed people that don't drop every day, mucked about with the in-game playing habits, and created a hundred new complaint threads.
