The release valves can be annoying at times because you can get unbalanced games by weight, but at least you can PLAY the game and can play something aside from light mechs.
As for this match, the winning team had a 0 damage mech, so this wasn't as 1-sided as the OP implies.

I remember getting eaten alive by teams that were "a tad light". I don't want to imply anyone is bad, but a good team can overcome a large weight disadvantage. It takes better teamwork then the opponents are using.
Stefka's team has what looks like a 4 man [-MS-]x4, so they should have had a better level of coordination. It doesn't always work out that way, but it should have favored his side.
From the numbers, I'm going to guess Stefka did not get to Alpha lance till late in the game. They were the only lance with only one casualty.

You all played Nascar around the bowl and the other team were better racers?
No, it's been a good match, in which we managed to hold the e line against 2 attempts made by enemy heavies and assaults... with attacks and counterattacks the match seemed balanced until it was 9-7.
We thought that we could also win.... but another wave of 2 whc and the rest appeared... so I remember to have said in ts "wtf...how many assaults did they have??!?!?!?!?!"
That's why I screenshotted the final screen; i was just curious to see the tonnage.

Well, I don't like to nascar, but yes, lights managed to counterattack and we managed to kill a couple of assaults and heavies.
After that, we managed to maneuvre well, because of more speed.
But holding the line is very difficult if you don't have enough weight. It's been fun anyway.
My only complaint is that it seems that MM doesn't take in account 3/3/3/3 nor tonnage with 2 or more groups que.

I pilot Atlases... I don't NASCAR well either. holding teh line probably wasn't the best idea against a heavier opponent. That's more a hit and run fight... if you have the cover for it.

yes, it would be better.
But in ms ts, we was only 6...so at first attempt to hit the assault, the other 6 didn0t follow... so...

In public (before group changes): you saw this a lot... 12 man teams of ravens, jenners, and spiders.
In CW (current): you see these a lot, firestarters and spiders killing a whole wave of enemies or two without more then 2 deaths or taking out all generators under 5 minutes and winning.
(PS: clans can't do this as there lights do not play the same.)
You saw a lot of 12 lights in CW tukayiid event if your a clanner, more common then 12 stalkers or king crabs or dragons.
You know 3/3/3/3 doesn't apply in private matches, right? Where comp matches happen?

It was 9-7, too, despite we intentionally chose "meh" mech.
So, this isn't a qq thread
(also because, ...who care about loss!

The fact is that MM should really take into account tonnage, not (only) elo.
Because of balance!
The matchmaker is supposed to weight class match as well as Elo match. I haven't seen a match as badly mismatched for tonnage as this one since the new matchmaker was introduced. All I can think of is that the group queue was so starved for groups that the matchmaker had to completely abandon the weight class matching constraints when forming the match. Either that or a bug.
5/4/3/0 vs 1/4/4/3 (A/H/M/L) is a bit lopsided

You do know I do not even think about private matches right? to the point I forgot about it's existence till you brought it up.
That would be a subtle hint that I am not talking about private matches.

I guess it would be tricky coding wise, but it would match better then tonnage.
