For the most part I don't think clan mechs should have quirks at all, positive or negative. they add flavor but since they were supposed to bring IS up to par, quirking clans in a way that doesn't piss everyone off (read: negative) means positive quirks for clans which means doubling up on positive quirks for IS which means arms race.

I'am sad and disappointed!
And I'am angry on myself for being a Founder, a Phoenix, Clan Wave I and II and Resistance Pack buyer.
Shouldn't have wasted so much money in this game.
PGI had to start using their Brains before adding Clans on how they add them and most of all PLAY THEIR OWN GAME in more then one or two matches against their own DEVS!
I will take a brake from MWO or quit I don't know yet.
I was and will ever be a Clan player and don't like to be forced to play IS because its not fun to pay Clan anymore.
Then I prefer to play other games.

You do realize IS has THIRTY SIX (36) different chassis while the clans have only 13. Its not like we have a lot of choices.

What I am tired of is playing "peek a boo" at 800 meters. Everybody and their brother with ER-large lasers. Boooooring! I'm mean, come on, it's BORING!
The Timber is still a great mech. I run that thing with a brawler build which gives me close to a 10.0 dps. Now, what heavy mech can do that? And with JJs!
ER-Large Laser On Line disappearing is fine with me.
And I am REALLY looking forward to Wave III!

its easy to stay back and snipe while others take loads of damage.
now its up to you.
go in there and take it for the team.
timberwolf has such a huge damage output close to midrange that i cant understand all your whining.
no more 3 ER LL spamming for you.
no more pulse laser spamming for you.
there is much more that mech can do so stop crying and figure out how to play with mixed weapons.
its not that hard.

because nerfing the few top chassis is a better way than buffing up the crapload of chassis that will never be as good as the TBR/SCR if they dont get overquirked.
now make the hunchback-4J*s missile cooldown to half of what it is currently and one of the remaining overquirked mechs is balanced. because 2 times 25% is way too much.

I think you are missing what the objective of quirks were in the first place. They were meant to be POSITIVE increases to make non-metal/non-used mechs competitive with top tier mechs like the TBR and SC. If those top tier mechs are going to be "nerfed" then there is no need for quirks in general because all the most highly effective mechs would be "brought down" to the effectiveness of the least competent mech. Its not a good way to go even if you don't own or play the top tier meta-mechs and its why there are so many people upset.

It is not the chassis that are being nerfed... it's the weapons.
How on earth can they make the "lesser" chassis competitive if they have mechs running around at long range dominating the battlefield in "Sniper On Line?"
The same thing happened with the old "pinpoint/poptart meta" with 2 PPCs and a Gauss Rifle on the CTF-3D, the Highlander and Misery.
If you want better balance... if you want more competitive mechs... then nerfing the Large Laser Spam is a must.
In general, so prevalent has long range laser spam become that you might as well sell most of your mech bay for Christ sakes.

Sorry people, that's not how games like this work.
Games like this NEED to have constant changes. That's how things stay interesting and encourage people to play differently. A new meta will arise from the ashes of this one given time.
To be clear, the timing isn't the most spectacular, as I just purchased a Stalker 4N and was able to get it kitted out (pretty much emptying my coffers in the process). But at the same time, I knew something like this was coming as well, so it's difficult to remain frustrated for too long. I mean, it's only C-Bills after all.
Still, that doesn't change the fact that you all are going to have to get used to these types of changes. Period.

Instad of only adding negative quirks for energie weapons, you could have also added some positive quirks supporting other playstyles

Running lasers on a Clan mech isn't chasing the meta. It is the only viable choice. Clan ballistics are not worth mention, LRM's are even worse. You want guys to stop running huge laser builds, make clan ballistics viable.

quirks are not there to be positive only.
why do so many people think that...... get your facts straight. they can be whatever is needed to balance.
now you can do 2 things to bring mechs in line with the TBR and SCR:
overquirk single weapon systems..... didnt work very well and ended in spamming them.
nerf the top chassis so you dont have to overquirk all the other mechs and go on from there.
thunderbolt will get some nerfs in future too so dont cry about them now.

so actually, if you nerf the weapons of a mech through the omnipods you dont nerf the chassis.... because you can totally run the mech without omnipods....
as far as i can see, the laser spamming will go down with the quirks.

gg ragekid.
there will be more nerfs to come but obviously raging and crying is easier. as usual.
im glad you leave, you never spent money in here so its not a loss for PGI, just one more crybaby gone.
its people like you that make this game worse than it has to be.
constantly upset by everything.
just rage and rage and rage and rage......
