Hello

well i am bit confused about these two upcoming assault mechs. I am looking at the base configuration for both of them and i cannot figure out why should one get the gladiator?

I am taking the base configurations for both of them. Sure the gladiator has JJ and fast speed but it does not have the necessary firepower. it either has too less fire power or too hot weapons...

So which one would you prefer and why?

Ps. I am planning to get one of them but looking at the gladiator i dont see much reason

In a full on brawl, the Mauler. It can pack 6 AC/5s on one of it's variants with enough ammo.

For a Free Style brawl (involves moving), the Executioner, it has Jump Jets, 24 Tons of free tonnage ( Gauss, Large pulse, 5 Mediums), and MASC, which allows it to move faster.

In short, moreover the Gladiator, it has more maneuverability and Clan Weapons Generally do more Damage.

Though I am getting both

Gladi will be more durable and faster. Mauler will have more loadout choices and more maximum weapon potential.

I think the Gladi will overall be better because of the durability alone, but neither mech seems super-impressive at first glance.

Base configuration? You mean you'll play them as stock mechs, without changing their builds at all?

I think you'll find that you won't get to do a whole lot of shooting with 11 DHS and 4 AC2s + 2 ER LL + 2xLRM15 on the Mauler. If you accidentally alphastrike for two consecutive seconds, you may as well go and make a cup of coffee untill your mech cools down.

Dude... Even on TT I always wondered why someone would want to take a Gladiator?

Because in 3050s - during Operation Revival - it's the only frontline Clan top-end Assault OmniMech that moves with 4/6(8) speed "and" jumps?

Good for:
  • Trials, especially 1v1
  • supporting Heavy Stars when it can keep pace with them in the crucial moments (thanks its MASC)
  • broken terrain where 3/5 Assaults such as the Daishi or the Turkina would be left behind
  • protecting slower 3/5 Assaults against enemy 'Mechs that would try to outmaneuver them

Poor firepower? Gladiator has the same pod space TBR does and thus can carry the same loadout, probably without negative quirks.

Maybe, but unless you bought before the extra variant cutoff it's quite hardpoint starved for it's weight I take that back i missed the A somehow......

both have their strengths and weaknesses, but the real question is...which is the sexier mech?

neither of them
of female mechs it's stormcrow (meanwhile kit ofx is the cutest it's another thing), she walks as if she is a striptease dancer or something
of male mechs it's probably timber wolf, look how gracefully he moves

too bad they are both nerfed

Timber has 30 tons of pod space if you shave off some leg armor. The gargo has 20
