I do not think this been considered at length in the ask the dev series... But I am hoping for some truly massive scale battles... With dozens of enemy mechs spread out over miles and miles and miles of space. Say what you will about MW4, but like it/hate it, there were some truly monumentally sized maps there. Big City was just one example. You could have some truly nail biting instances of cat and mouse on a map of that size. You could send a couple of mechs around to the flank if someone decided to camp. You could lead them on a merry chase if you were down a couple of mechs and any enemies in the pursuing force that got too far ahead you could bring down to even the odds. I mean, I want huge battlefields with dozens (mark that, dozens, plural of dozen...) of enemies.

I suppose my question is this: With the improved technology available today, can we expect larger engagements in terms of both numbers of players and also map size? Will we see any truly EPIC engagements in this game? Matches that we remember for years to come due to the thrill level? (I am getting goose-pimples just imagining the FEELING of some of my past battles in this franchise.)

I am also fan of large engagements, but this will likely depend on how the client side is able to handle large groups of battlemechs on the field.

As for MW4 the biggest reason it is not a great marker is because that game pretty much ignored the battletech construction rules regarding 'mechs and substituted their own, and in my opinion poorly thought out, hardpoint system that heavily reduced the amount space many of the larger weapons systems took up. The maps were pretty good however and offered a lot of interesting tactics, but because of how things worked out with the mech customization only a couple of tactics were used as opposed to the large number of possible tactics available.

What kind of peripheral support will we see?

Should I be updating my Amazon wish list for a Logitech G940, or will the game not support?

Can we expect cheap joystick support for those of us who blew our gaming budget for the year on Legendary and a PC that can support MWO? Say, like using a console game controller? Or, will we be stuck with mouse and keyboard?

It has already been stated that there will be 10 'Mechs available at launch. We know the 4 founders 'mechs are there. In the video for the release of Frozen City we can also clearly see a Dragon and Commando. So that's 6 so far.

Further, the screenshot today shows a view from a Centurion - that makes 7! Given that the Assault class has only one confirmed in-game representative yet I would expect that the Awesome is up next, and then a couple more before open beta hits.

I think a few other people have asked in this thread already but I'd like to know if there's eventually going to be a simulator where we can try out a configuration without having to actually play a match. Just a small solo map of some kind, would also reduce the chance of entering a game full of people who haven't worked out the controls yet.

also, ask the devs 1 confirmed that endo steel and ferro fibrous will be in eventually, will these be restricted to certain variants or can we use them freely?

Is there any plans to release an API in the future to support mobile device apps, tablets and other crazy things people like to incorporate into their gameplay?

How about this:

Will matches follow a one death per round policy or will there be an option for multiple spawns?

Also

Will there ever be a conquest (capture & hold) style game mode?

Another non-reader/non-video watcher. Game modes announced before. 4v4 no respawn base capture. 4v4 base capture with "hot drops" that make it a 12 v 12 (3 respawns per player per team).

This game will have proper Eyefinity, TrackIR, MS Force Feedback 2, and Crossfire support correct?

Why is gameplay footage so limited. I understand not wanting to put your game in a bad light, but it seems like there could be more effort put forth on gameplay movies. Mabye a match of the week, or just some mechs moving around even.

What is being done to counter the low ammo count in the face of now double standard armor. Slowing kill time is good and well, but your skewing the game in favor of lasers even more.

If I promise not to get into the free beer, can I still snag an invite to the Nvidia meet n greet even if I'm not yet 21? (Santa Clara is pretty darn close to me.)

What kind of country are you allowed to drink beer only when you get 21?
Must quite suck we are allowed to drink beer with 16 here ;)

Anyway regarding the servers will it be possible to switch between them? Right now I am in a Merc group that will stay on the NA but will it be possible to play on the NA server when playing with my merc group in community warfare and play on the EU Server when playing alone?

Will it still be possible for US and EU players to interact and have matches once we have a EU server? Or does this mean that we will have isolated communities for each server?

1) Will there be a name change option?
2) Will we see Pirates in the future?
3) Will we be able to transfer C-Bills to other players?
3) If a Mech falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

What do you think of a 'tag' option for names? On a players settings page there would be a field to add your clans tag before your name in game that way you wouldn't have to bother with name change requests and people can update this field if they leave, change or join merc units.

For example if I was a lone wolf I would simply be Fiachdubh but if joined Spectre's Ravens could add a SR before it for 'SR Fiachdubh' or if joined Clan Ghost Bear could change it to 'CGB Fiachdubh'.
To avoid having to check every tag for rudeness each Merc unit would select their tag alongside the unit name when creating their unit in game (or however it will work) so people can only input registerd unit tags.

Well since sound is a compression wave, the answer to this is yes. The sound is still made, regardless of whether or not anyone or anything is around to hear it.

Well thanks for the information. I've looked through several threads but found no answers. And I don't necessarily have time to completely browse through the entire forum looking for answers.

Another detail question!

In tabletop, you need line of sight to gain the bonus from an Artemis IV fire control radar; if you lob your LRMs indirectly, they act as if the system wasn't present.

Does this carry over into MWO? And if yes, does that mean you only need LoS at the time of launch, or for the entire duration of the flight, or only at the moment of impact?

Interesting question, though I would think the Artemis would need to bounce it's signal off the target for the duration of the missile flight.

Are there currently any plans to increase sign-on security such as implementing SSL for forum authentication and/or two factor authentication (e.g. RSA SecurID)?

Can any updates or details be provided regarding changes to Roles such as the moving of "Command functions into a different aspect of the game", as previously mentioned by Bryan Ekman? This is of course with the understanding that roles are subject to change during Beta.
