Almost a great idea, but you shouldn't ignore the players who would like to play Clans. So go to 3025 and have 2 different CW locations, access to which is determined by a unit's current allegiance; IS or Clan. Also seperate PUG queues by allegiance. No allegiance? Then you can't be a Clanner really, must be some merc.

Now you no longer need to balance 2 different tech systems with each other (one of them being supposed to be superior to the other!) and everyone can have lots more fun.

Then just turn back to 3025 and make IS vs IS and Clan vs Clan

If your a pug you are more likely to get rolled over thus you will make less C-Bills. If anything Pugs should just join a unit or at least look up the faction chat on TS3 for their faction, then they would get a 12 man team all with coms and maybe even someone experienced to lead them. Then the pugs would have fun in this game mode and play it more instead of being rolled all the time. Some of the problems in CW are the communities fault and to dismiss that is to ignore your own ignorance.

As a locked allegiance Steiner player, this effectively kills what little impetus I had to play CW.

CW isn't fun. Fiddling about with the rewards levels isn't helping make it more fun.

OH and it is practically IS vs IS now in CW for Kurita, so all this 3025 talk is dumb, some of us like fighting clans.

Honestly, the balancing issues won't be resolved in a long term by quirks and reward adjustments. I'd rather like to see some courageous decisions, since most problems are just bypassed.

For example, after the beta, the group size has increased from 8 to 12. The Mechs were not adjusted which still has a major impact on the overall balance. There could be many things mentioned like that, which most player can't even remember - but sum up to the current vague state.

Also, cheating increasingly seems to be a problem, if not handled, it will ultimately kill the already small competitive scene.
EDIT: Banwave just went official! That is indeed a "courageous" step and a good sign! Good work! (Hopefully, the 100% certainty comment is to be taken literally however ^^)

This is a typical case of X amount of players complaining about 1 thing and X amount of players complaining about another and X amount saying random stuff that is not relevant to the thread.

Balance is an issue that effects the entire game not just CW and sadly it is a very ambiguous thing that will never be reached because some people think they should never die, so when they do they say OP!!! Once again i will say the clan nerfs are a bit much on weapons any ways, i do not think stormcrows need armor buffs since they have messed up hit reg, but they do not need to have their weapons nerfed either. CW needs more rewards and they need to be varied. Groups are fine a 8 man group would be stupid and I see nothing wrong with the way groups are set up now. Sadly this will take a lot of effort on both the communities and PGI's side to fix... and yes that includes actual detailed feed back from both sides and not just pointless complaining.

What? Why? As a merc unit we do not care about these adjustments. They do neither compensate for the lower income because of the shorter contract, nor for all the ghost drops that we have.

These adjustments should ONLY attract the lone wolfs to fill up the gaps between smaller units and compensate for the waiting times that solo players have. Give them twice as many points if they don't have a unit. Make an event that brings the lone wolfs into CW and gives them more rewards the lower the queue. Dropping on a planet with only 12/12, then give them additionally 100%. Dropping on a planet with 99+/99+ then give them only 10%.

I can only hope this weekend we won't get another PUBLIC SOLO DROP ONLY event for owners of the Masakari package ..

I like a lot of what you are saying. Incentives are the only way anyone can hope to change behavior.

However I have to say to all Lone Wolves out there...

Why aren't you using LFG or Faction Chat?? They are there and they are awesome (ok maybe a little exaggeration, but that event a while back proved that LFG in particular works).

Seriously if you want to play CW you already have to have an hour or two free for MWO. If you use LFG and faction chat your experience will be better - better coordination which can lead to shorter wait times, better drop deck planning and probably other benefits that I am forgetting. Just do it!

PUGS GO WHERE C-BILLS FLOW

Playing mostly CW got me 170.000.000 to spend during the weapon module sale. After Tukayyid I was short 50k xp of level 20 to gain 50.000.000 c bills, but even without I now am at 350.000.000 with 130 battlemechs. I think pugs need to use LFG or join units.

You should try IS and its waiting times.
Normal matches are nearly twice effective in terms of C-bills farming.

CW works PUG or team...if there are enough people playing and if the populations (Clan vs IS) are fairly close in size.

The problem is:

#1) Jump starting that population size. We need to find a way to get people in there in large numbers.
The event showed that if you have large numbers that it works....at least for the Clan side it was great. Which brings me to point #2.

#2) Balance the populations. The event also showed that even with a lot of people playing, if one side has a lot more players they will still have long wait times.
If they allowed Clan vs Clan and House vs House, things would have been better for the IS side in terms of waiting.

Maybe they should try another more general event. Just normal CW with event rewards of some kind.
Aka...no fighting over one planet, or forcing Clan vs IS stuff. Although the event could still be based around Clan vs IS.

It would be interesting to see how it works with lots of people in there. More of a true test of the concept of CW.

I wish for one weekend they could they just change the attack algorithm so that no cross-border attacks were possible.

Basically no IS house would have an attack option for attacking clan worlds, and vice versa.

Just to see what people's experiences would be!

The rewards for the loosing side need to increase. I've done 6 drops today, all stomps. Why would I continue to do that when I can earn more in the solo queue and faster?

They need to be at least big enough that you can walk away and think, I got some XP and C-Bills at least.

Well it would be Clan Wolf vs. Jade falcon, And IS would be Steiner VS. Kurita.. Kurita Vs. Davion.. Liao Vs. Marik and davion and so on.... so on. once again that would be nothing new for Kurita since we had to fight marik, davion, and the clans all the same time in the first phase. Also this would not improve population.

HA... earn your c-bills Clanner by retaking your worlds for a start.

>tl;dr

i think it's not enough. Have you played clans lately? We only got left a few hardliners and a bunch of idiots. It's quite nice, that we get a bit more (which is really NOT MUCH) if we win, but that's actually the fact: we don't win very often these days and i'm definitely not one of those people who don't know how to fight properly. (ask me about tukkayid 'n stuff :P)

125 fraction points per win? That's like patting our heads for being resistant against the stravag. Be at least consistent! You can't nerf our mechs (which is another topic) and then give us the littlest possible bonus ever been made. GET REAL PGI!

>no hate intended - i will stay with my clan brothers, but this attempt of getting people to play clans is pathetic.

See this proves they actually know Clans are disappearing from CW. And yet they went ahead with those idiotic nerfs in the worst possible time, considering the new CW event and the upcoming wave 3 that makes all this look like a cheap money grab attempt. These guys really have no communication at all between departments? Or it is just a bad leadership? I dunno, by this time I feel we are going into an all-new 3pv and players-on-an-island debacle...

IMHO this adjustment does not change anything.

The Tamar Jaeger / Royal Guards have always been loyal to House Steiner and always will be. The unit encompasses roughly 40 active players. Most of us are seasoned players having accumulated an handsome amount of cbills and mechs over the time.

Having been loyal to House Steiner before the Battle of Tukayiid, when pressed by the Falcons, Wolfs, Kurita, Rasalhague and Marik, we do not now feel a wind of change blowing through our contract now.

Since I already don´t know what to spend my hoarded cbills on, I do not even feel slightly tempted by this offer.

Maybe PGI can think of another incentive to change the fortunes of war for the clanners. A more immersive event, like coverted operations of House Steiner and Clan Jaguar (which dont share any border togther) or House Kurita and Clan Jade Falcon would certainly at least get me thinking about anoying the dragon in its currently comfy lair.

Of course you do!!!! Its alot easier to fight clans then fighting IS super quirked meta builds!!! No more timbers, no more crows... go and fight thunderbolts and stalkers for all we care! PGI killed clans, now they are trying to revive them... apart from a few mercs, all know that its a uphill race!
I bet we will see some mercs fighting in davion, liao and marik now, specially agaisnt IS. The 5th succession war is on! Without the clans getting involved!
