Edit: I'm talking about standard variants that have bonuses. Sure you might buy a Huginn or a Champion 3L, but would you spend money on a 4X?

The recent sale prompted this.

I have roughly 2k MC sitting around from when the last MC bonus event came up; mostly to get an Oxide and a Champion Jenner. Those purchases felt nice and fair for the enjoyment I got out of them.

Looking at the Clan Sale though, has me thinking. None of these mechs have any relevant bonuses to them; XP or CBills.

Why then, not make them even cheaper than the hero/champion sale? Give me a reason to actually want to use my weekend fun budget on this, and not a Sushi Buffet.

I'd like to pick up a few Warhawks for MC. At roughly 15USD each though? A little less inclined now.

I buy a lot and i mean ALOT of the champion mechs simply for the XL engine, (champion jenner best seller) as for the others, meh, ill usually grind out the cbills at least for the mech itself, but if it requires an expensive XL that comes in a champion of any kind ill buy the mech, sell it for some change and throw on that 9 million dollar engine.

Reasonable thinking, but that's what I'm getting at.

People don't want to shell out for normal mechs because "PFFT. Nah. I'll just get the champion that has better gear that I need."

Surely this is bad? Surely it'd be better if people had a reason to look at that 1000 MC they have, and consider getting themselves a stock Heavy mech, without a sale going on? IS or Otherwise?

Bought my Blackjack-Arrow, Jag-Firebrand, Trebuchet-Loup De Guerre with MC.

BJ & Treb from $60 cash MC credit, Firebrand from MC earned in Urby tournament.
Bought my Urbie pack with cash too.

Everything else went to mechbays, camo & paint.

But that's the thing. You bought Mechs that had special properties.

Would you ever consider spending MC on, say a Raven 4X?

Probably not.

I'm sure some people might do it while mastering a set, but I know I never have, and never will.

Anything I need, I earn, and that which gets too grindy, I do without.

I did, bought Raven 3L and Spider 5D with MC back in Closed Beta. Regret it immensely now of course, but stupid historical me clearly thought it was a good deal.

I have bought 1 mech for the xl and 4 mastery packs. I have the time to grind now, but compared to other hobbies or even a couple of meals out $10-20 may not be too much, but I think it is better put towards premium time.

Yeah I don't get it. At least with the IS one's you have an engine. THe clan mechs are ridiculous. That's a lot of MC for what it is. You would have to be allergic to the grind to go for those. There is nothing else about them, just avoiding the grind for a premium price.

Me, I wouldn't spend MC on a non-hero mech, I just don't really see a need to and they are too costly for what they are imo.

Gotta love that tournament MC. How's Loup De Guerre?

Sorry, don't mean to derail

So far the replies have all been dismissive of Normal mech variants.

I feel this solidifies my point further.

It would only then be beneficial to lower normal mech prices down so that they are actually a considerable option, instead of spending MC on only Special mechs, vanity and premium.

The only mechs I bought with MC were my 4 Founders mechs.

The prices are "too damned high!"

EDIT- I forgot, I also used some Founders MC to buy a Cicada X-5.

i bought 2 hero mechs, a ctf-im and a lct-pb. most of my mc purchases have gone towards mech bays and vanity stuffs.

im actually saving up the free mc i have been getting from events/cw ranking and intend to buy a mastery pack or at least some additional hero mechs.

Another brilliant example!

I do hope Tina is watching this thread. Or someone who has the power to implement the change I'm trying to suggest.

Reiterating. Standard Variants for MC have no appeal. Zilch. Nadda.

You could buy the clan Wave 1 for a better deal than the current setup.

So why not make it worth the small purchases? Obviously, not so that buying each mech individually with MC competes with the Wave 1 order, but actually make us stop and think whether we get better value in our MC.

Never buy standard mechs for MC. Premium time or mastery packs are always a better choise.

Clan MC prices are still very high, even with 35% off. I've never bought a standard mech for MC, just Heroes and Champions. There's basically no point to spend so much money on a standard mech. I'd like all MC prices to have a permanent 50% off, but I know that's just not gonna happen :(

But WHY though?

This has been a standing point for as long as I have been reading the forums.

Why is Premium or Mastery always the better choice? Why not make it so that Buying a single chassis is a reasonable idea?

It's like making a chocolate bar 2.99, and then putting up a chocolate pack of 3 for 7.99, which includes Candy and gum.

Make the solo chocolate a reasonable choice, otherwise why bother?

It tries to put the sense in you to buy the pack...

Logical choice. Devious.

Some mechs don't come with a Mastery pack.

Suppose I want the SRM Quirked Hunchie. Or Just the Timber Wolves; without the extra mechs I'm not interested in playing?

Most are probably bought in packs or MC.
It would take about 2 years to grind my collection of 40 something.
